8. Eternatus Devils
What the actual fuck is this? Eternatus isn’t an adjective, first of all. And I guess it’s kind of devilish but not really? This is an all-time bad team name, and its position at the bottom wasn’t up for debate.
7. Slashing Leaves
This team name suffers from the same problem that Iron Leaves does: the word “leaves”. I’m not over here quaking in my metaphorical boots hearing about the leaves that are coming my way. But coming from someone who has named themselves both “Anythinggoeslegend” and “A Bread Sandwich”, I’m not sure I should’ve expected anything better.
6. Oblivion Ambers
Not entirely sure how to feel about this one. I know it’s a repeat name from last year, and I don’t recall rating it that highly then either. I don’t know where “ambers” is coming from. This is carried by the word “oblivion” and the fact that Yveltal is goated.
5. Kraken Kyogres
This and the #4 slot were very close for me. This name is just very baseline. It’s got alliteration going for it, which is always a plus for me, and Kyogre and Krakens are both cool, and Kraken works as an adjective, unlike Eternatus.
4. The Frostwalkers
I’m unsure how to feel about this one. I debated putting it below Kraken Kyogres since it actually has to do with Pokémon while this name doesn’t, but I’ll be damned if I deny that The Frostwalkers is a creepy sounding name and I love it. It would be higher but the lack of connection to Pokémon lowers it for me.
3. Salt Mining Sableyes
As a former member of this team I’ll always have a soft spot for it. It’s also just a solid name, playing off of Sableye’s lore while using alliteration. Classic team name and a great one at that.
2. Darkrai Dominion
Alliteration, check. Menacing factor, check. Pokémon name used effectively as an adjective, check. This name is really fucking cool. Although I wish it were called Darkrai’s Dominion and not Darkrai Dominion. It works though. Though even if it did change to that, it wouldn’t be #1.
1. Orichalcum Onslaught
This is one of the best team names an AG team has ever had. Onslaught is a phenomenal word, especially in a team setting, and while the assonance isn’t perfect, the O-O pairing is extremely nice. I think of an army of Koraidon flare blitzing the competition when I think about this name. 10/10.
If this gets at least 20 reacts I’ll sign up for AGWL.
