Is it possible to challenge someone to a game of Legends ZA OU but replace the format's limited distribution of toxic with toxic's distribution in natdex? I this specific restriction doesn't seem to be classed as a clause AFAIK so I'm wondering how it is actually implemented

I'll be honest, I don't know any good new abilities for Mega Megainium. If people really want it to be more than just ok, then Triage, Misty Terrain, and Thick Fat are the only ones I can reccomend as a normal ability. If you want to be extreme with it, Regenerator and Filter work too I guess. In my opinion, the only way an ability could work for this thing is if it got a custom one that made it immune to poison moves or basically either Leftovers or Light Clay as an ability. It just doesn't have much it wants to switch in to despite it's stats warranting it being a tank, nor does it do enough damage to justify using it over a different Fairy mega or even just Mega Venusaur.

This is probably going to be the last time I chime in for this format because I feel as though most of my concerns about this format haven’t really been heard or responded to (and that’s okay, even if it’s a bit frustrating). However I would like to say one thing regarding this rising discussion on Mega viability and actively and constantly dishing out buffs.

Not every Mega Evolution is created equal. To try and compromise mechanical integrity for the sake of making certain Mega Evolutions better and all OU viable is not just painstakingly unrealistic/unsustainable for the council and leads to circular playerbase discussion, but I would even say it worsens the longevity, integrity, and accessibility of the format by constantly shaking the landscape and saturating the tier’s viability list in general. In my opinion, I think it would be better to focus on scraping up loose ends of imbalance (such as more broken things) and giving the format more whole resources. Then after that, you could possibly pursue a more formal lower tier if the concern for low Mega Evolution viability persists and the support is there.

Like this metagame is 4 months old and has never had even a preliminary Viability Rankings! No Sample Teams!

I wanna make a team based on M-Golisopod cause ive been waiting for the day he was usable. While Regen was cool, Heatproof is still workable, it's one and only weakness now just 2x to fire. While rocking mediocre health but having an insane base 175 Def and a very respectable base 120 Spd he's got some good bulk. +Atk nature lets him cross the 400 barrier so it's not like you're a sitting duck either. The interesting thing about Golisopod is the move pool, there's so many usable tools that I feel a bit of 4-moveslot syndrome.
-There's priority in Aqua Jet, First Impression, and Sucker Punch
-Utility in Knock Off, U-Turn, Leech Life, Swords Dance, Taunt, Pain Split, and Spikes (with varying viability but still)
-Surprising range of coverage options with Close Combat, Gunk Shot, Poison Jab, Drill Run, and Rock Slide (and a few more)

I see a lot of potential but I want to know if there's any genuine criticisms or notes. As far as I'm aware the meta is lots of steel, ground, and dark types with some threatening fire types. Here's Bulky offensive set that I'm planning on testing, would love input on possible changes or team members that'd pair well!
Golisopod-Mega @ Golisopite
Ability: Heatproof
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Drill Run
- Iron Head
- Leech Life
- Knock Off
*Notes:
Drill Run for Steel + Fire, Iron Head for Clef + T-Tar, Leech Life for Dark + Psy, Knock cause its Knock
Min speed can slow u-turn non -speed Slowbro/Slowking

248+ Atk Golisopod Drill Run vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Magearna: 140-166 (38.5 - 45.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
248+ Atk Golisopod Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 282-332 (71.5 - 84.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
248+ Atk Golisopod Drill Run vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 404-476 (104.6 - 123.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO (lives magma btw)
248+ Atk Golisopod Leech Life vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 216-254 (54.9 - 64.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
248+ Atk Golisopod Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Slowking-Galar: 308-364 (78.1 - 92.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
248+ Atk Golisopod Leech Life/Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 16 Def Tyranitar: 288-342 (71.2 - 84.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Hey everyone, quick question.

Would anyone be interested in trying a Double Battle format for this mod? I think it could be a cool way to explore different strategies and interactions.

Curious to hear people’s thoughts.
I'd be very happy to have that, I've been wanting an official ZA OU doubles format since day one. The reason I started playing ZA OU was because I thought there was a singles and doubles format lol. I'm not much of a singles player, but I just wanted to use new megas so yea

This is why i think we nuked customs a bit too quickly. We strayed too hard into "lets make some wacky ability combo/gimmick" shit when we were probably better off trying to take an existing abilities concept, and modify it to fit the mega. I know this exact thing is what Leader of the Pride was, but in all honestly do we want Mega Pyroar in OU?

Like, in all honesty, we should just make a list of Megas we want in OU, and which ones are fine falling to UU or lower. Because as ausma said, not every Mega is created equal. Therefore, we should as a community vote for a top 15/20 Mega Pokemon that we want in OU, and focus on those Pokemon.

I really don't like centralizing the meta like that, but the meta is so washed already that I don't really care atp. Besides, TPC kinda already did in SV and I'm starting to not care about this meta anyways, its becoming too stressful to try and make a consistent team here.

Mega Meganium and its consequences have been a disaster for the Legends ZA OU thread.

I've been using belly drum Mega Chesnaught from 1100-1550s and I would say it's definitely viable and can singlehandedly beat some teams, especially since I made the team in about 20 minutes. Though this is could be skewed because I only faced one or two Dragonites, somehow.

I used Bdrum mega Chest myself and I can say for a fact that if you're using it, you get super luck with Dnite matchups. I got 2 critical hit Drain Punches on the only 2 dragonites I ever fought with the team lol

Probably shouldn't post this before laddering, although here's the (first) team. https://pokepast.es/783aa5580467ee75 Only issue at the moment comes down to a lack of hazards and speed control. Besides that, the goal is to remove/clear a path for Naught. It got me 1350 in minutes.

Speed was a problem for me too, and that's why I started running Scarf Latios, it works really well as a delete button and to threaten special attackers. Both that and Scarf Keldeo work great, just having a good speed option is the best for it. I reccomend Keldeo though, priority is important.

Drill gives me hazards and an amazing speed tier. Just have to hope the limited coverage works still.

Honestly surprised people are saying they had so much success with belly drum chesnaught. I got it to almost 1600 but it definitely struggled a lot -draginite , corv, skarm, clefable, and the lati's are everywhere and all are hard counters, and you need speed to beat mag which means losing bulk

Every Corv I see gets one tapped by a belly drum drain punch. Clef is the real big issue, although wood hammer does 64% minimum. And Chesnaught is faster. Lati gets cooked by TTar too. Guess it depends on the matchup really. Half of these games I don't even use belly drum to sweep. I lead Naught, they switch to corv on the drum, I kill Corv and get to 98% HP. Then go from there.

Chesnaught should be running speed anyways. Otherwise it gets owned by things like Clefable, Corviknight and Magearna, all hard counters and all top threats
