Hello everyone! This thread exists as public confirmation that yes - Lunar New Year will be happening for 2026, as well as some general information. Credits to Arya for the former hosting and idea of this event.
The 17th of February is the beginning of the Lunar New Year, and with it, a new edition of this festival will begin, from the 17th of February to the 3rd of March. This year, it's the Year of the Horse! Curious to see how rooms face this year's topic? Join us and let's meet again in the PS! rooms!
The main objective will be obtaining as many points from across Pokemon Showdown's various participating rooms to climb the leaderboard, and aim for the top, winning prestigious prizes for 1st and 2nd place! Every room that participates will host one or more events related to Lunar New year, and the points obtained from each event will go towards the Lunar New Year leaderboard.
A few internal changes have happened from the last edition of Lunar New Year. Namely, the amazing Arya will be stepping back from this iteration, and I will be leading Lunar New Year this year. I have two event co-hosts, qtfox and ArnavChawla - any questions may be directed to either of us.
Our schedule is not live yet, nor is our logo quite ready, but we just wanted to inform people that it is indeed happening this year, in 17 days! If you want to be notified for future developments and LNY discussions, make sure to watch this thread so that you get notified when this post is replied to!
