[OVERVIEW]
Poison
========
Glimmora is enticing; its respectable Special Attack combined with a strong movepool—containing powerful support options like Stealth Rock, Mortal Spin, and Corrosion Toxic and hard-hitting offensive tools like Sludge Wave and Earth Power—should make it a powerhouse. However, it is never going to be the best at making use of its supportive and offensive options. Its low bulk makes it far too frail to consistently spread Toxic poison, keep entry hazards up, or remove them with Mortal Spin, making its support unreliable in the long term. Meanwhile, its Special Attack is only just respectable, and it is unable to threaten types like Flying and Fire as much as it would like without major support to wear teams down first. It also demands a Choice Scarf; otherwise, it isn't fast enough to check threats such as Cinderace and Ogerpon-H comfortably.
[SET]
Glimmora @ Choice Scarf
Name: Choice Scarf (Poison)
Ability: Toxic Debris
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Energy Ball / Stealth Rock
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf allows Glimmora to become a potent offensive threat on Poison teams, being able to outspeed several key targets like Iron Valiant, Ogerpon-H, and Choice Specs Greninja and swiftly remove them. Power Gem picks off the threatening Flying- and Fire-types of the tier including Articuno, Ceruledge, and Cinderace. Sludge Wave is Glimmora's strongest move and can KO threats like the Ogerpon formes, Iron Valiant, and Alolan Ninetales. Earth Power hits the Steel-types that would effortlessly switch into Glimmora's STAB moves such as non-Air Balloon Heatran, Gholdengo, and Archaludon. Finally, Energy Ball threatens Choice Specs Greninja and Ground-types like Mamoswine and Ursaluna. Alternatively, Stealth Rock can be used to help further pressure types like Fire and Ice.
Choice Scarf Glimmora greatly enjoys Parting Shot Pecharunt, which can be used to pivot it onto the field safely along with helping against physical attackers that can check Glimmora such as Scizor, Choice Scarf Iron Boulder, and Assault Vest Iron Hands. Galarian Slowking can similarly help get Glimmora onto the field with Chilly Reception and can use Future Sight to help pressure would-be switch-ins like Clodsire and Assault Vest Gallade. Sneasler is capable of breaking special walls like Ting-Lu, Blissey, and Hisuian Goodra for Glimmora with Close Combat, and its U-turn can bring Glimmora in on threats Glimmora can handle like Archaludon and Zapdos. Amoonguss can help against Water-types like Swift Swim Barraskewda and Choice Scarf Urshifu-R, which outspeed and remove Glimmora, while also being able to use Spore to put opposing threats to sleep and get Glimmora in safely. Galarian Weezing can come in against faster and bulkier Ground- and Dark-types Glimmora cannot deal with like Choice Scarf Great Tusk, Clodsire, and Choice Scarf Roaring Moon while helping break through Dark- and Dragon-types such as Ting-Lu and Garchomp with Strange Steam. Alolan Muk can come in on faster special attackers like Flutter Mane, Spectrier, and Choice Scarf Greninja for Glimmora and threaten Knock Off to remove their Choice Scarf; Knock Off also deals with Gholdengo's Air Balloon, allowing Glimmora to check it with Earth Power. Iron Moth can serve as an offensive complement to Glimmora, being able to deal with the Steel-types Glimmora struggles against such as Corviknight and Gholdengo while appreciating Glimmora's Power Gem handling Ceruledge and Ninetales.
