Welcome to round 1 of the SV SU Winter Seasonal for 2026. For those just learning about SU, this is the unofficial tier below ZU, based on ZU's ladder usage stats following the same processes as other lower tiers. Resources are available in this post, but please reach out to myself or my cohosts, Heatranator and Zpice, if you have additional questions.

Specific Rules:
  • This is a standard SV SU (Generation 9) tournament
    • All bans from higher tiers (Arena Trap, Light Clay, Heat Rock) are transitive to SV SU.
    • Pokemon tiered as ZU: Basculin, Brute Bonnet, Charizard, Clawitzer, Froslass, Hitmontop, Jolteon, Lanturn, Magneton, Malamar, Medicham, Mesprit, Minior, Muk, Orthworm, Passimian, Primeape, Regirock, Rotom-Mow, Sableye, Sandslash, Sneasel, Sneasel-Hisui, Snorlax, Spiritomb, Typhlosion, Venusaur, Vikavolt, Weezing, Whimsicott, Zangoose
    • Pokemon tiered as SUBL: Beartic, Farigiraf, Glastrier, Oricorio, Oricorio-Pa'u, Tauros-Paldea-Combat, Veluza, Virizion
  • Matches are to be played on PS! or Smogtours. Do not submit matches from different servers.
  • The tournament format is best of three, double elimination
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
  • Replays will be required for ALL rounds!
Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Do not make baseless activity posts, get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
  • All the usual Smogon rules regarding activity, timer, disconnection, and ghosting rules apply.
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokemon with the same Pokedex number on their team.
  • Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize are banned.
  • OHKO Clause: The moves Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, and Fissure are banned.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Anything capable of intentionally creating an endless battle is banned.
