The focus this week will be the Most Improved and Rookie of the Year categories. First, Most Improved. Setting the criteria as "improving their win differential by at least +4 since the last time they were in SPL, we get this list (correct me if I missed anyone):

1. Skyrio (3-6 -> 4-0) (SPL XV)
2. entrocefalo (0-5 -> 3-1) (SPL XV)
3. Pideous (3-6 -> 3-1) (SPL XV)
4. Fusien (3-6 -> 3-1)
5. 1 True Lycan (2-7 -> 2-2) (SPL XIV)
6. GaryTheGengar (2-7 -> 2-2)
7. Malekith (1-5 -> 2-2)
8. MichaelderBeste2 (2-4 -> 3-1)
9. ACR1 (0-5 -> 1-2)

While it's undeniably valuable to go from disastrously underwater to even, that seems to deviate from the spirit of this award, so you can probably ignore 1 True Lycan, GaryTheGengar, Malekith, and ACR1 from this list. Likewise, MDB2's "improvement" is mostly just the Sharks actually putting him in his best tier, which doesn't seem like what we're looking for either.

If we're sticking with improvements since last year, the obvious one's Fusien. With that said, Fusien entered this tour ranked 3rd among SV starters, because after the last season of SPL he spent a year as maybe the best SV player on the site. The remaining three fit better for me, players who had big question marks because of their struggles the last time they played (and because of their season off from SPL) who are defying all those doubts so far. Of them, I'll say entrocefalo -> Skyrio -> Pideous. Pideous has performed at an elite level in this tier outside of SPL, after all, so until they face the top players in the pool this run isn't really shocking (in fact, I'm pretty sure I've picked them to win all four weeks). Skyrio's is a bigger swing, and they've actually played some of the pool's on-paper top threats in marcop and Malekith. That said, I'll go with entrocefalo. I will admit that I really did not believe in them at all in SV going into the season; a second place at an OU seasonal just really isn't a particularly noteworthy resume in the tier compared to what else was available from players who didn't go 0-3 in the tier last time they played in SPL. But beating Fusien and DAHLI, then getting moved to another tier to accommodate changes elsewhere in the lineup, and picking up a win against ChrisPBacon? If voting happened now, that's my pick.

Now let's move on to with Rookie of the Year. Remember, I've been told that you need to be a complete sheet newcomer; SCL and WCOP games make you ineligible for this. Listing everyone who's at least +2 this tour:

1. Sheik : (4-0)
2. CTown6 (3-1)
3. zinc (3-1)
4. Johnald (3-1)
5. NoName6293 (3-1)
6. Ikaishi (3-1)

There's no wrong answer here, I think. CTown has the strongest win of anyone here, Serpi, but otherwise the RBY pool is very manageable. Ikaishi's probably faced the strongest competition overall, with wins over the preseason 4, 5, and 6 in the SS pool (and Finch is back up to 2-2 overall). And Sheik has an extra win over any of them, albeit with three wins against the bottom half of the pool; the hard part there has yet to come. I've heard people talk about how good NoName's looked in game, but I will note that their wins have come against the preseason numbers 7, 8, and 10 in an ORAS pool with some big hitters coming later on. As for the ADV pair, I think their wins looked more impressive preseason; funny enough, the combined ADV record of both Johnald's and zinc's opponents that they beat is currently 1-6. zinc has wins against the PR-ranked 3rd and 9th players, as well as a backup, but that Endill win won't look as impressive by season's end if they don't improve from a 1-3 start. Likewise, Johnald's wins over the 3rd and 4th ranked starters (as well as a backup) looked more impressive before Prinz and Endill got off to rough starts. Johnald's faced Garay oak and zinc's faced Triangles, and they've both lost those matches. I think my pick would be Ikaishi, but again, there's no wrong answer. Treat this as a starting point, and I'd love to hear the mainers chime in.
