• Follow all rules listed here.​
• Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.​
• If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.​
• Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.​
• If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.​
• Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.​
• Matches must be done on the smogtours server​

I think this is going to be a rather comfortable spot by Youan given such support (So, ein Mist if the opp wins though, and ngl, mfw LB won his match last week but ends up playing BW this week LOL)

won vs Joaf in a, frankly, ugly set where two games could have been managed a lot cleaner on my end and we probably could've avoided the second tie of the week if I had gone with my gut and picked Marowak(yes I was scared of not beating Metagross, I admit it!). While I have reason to post here without clogging the thread up, I may as well say this:

The last three weeks have given me such a newfound respect and appreciation for competitive 1v1 and the pressure that goes into building, and clicking, for the right situations. You need to have a pulse on what your opponent’s likely to do both before the game, and assess the likelihood of their clicks during preview. Sometimes it’s genuinely worth switching up your clicking style just to throw your opponent off, and sometimes you play the game super conservatively by clicking your 2-1 matchup… and this all varies not just from player to player, but from game to game in a set, and you need to be able to not let the salt(or excitement) from last game carry over to the next one. It's a LOT, but it's really interesting, and I think that it's something that almost no other format on this site has to offer.

That's the best part about the Smogon community - the fact that if you squint hard enough, there's a format where any single obscure pokemon is viable and playable, and there's like infinite numbers of ways to play with these stupid little pixels we all love so much.

Some bullshit sentimental yap which you absolutely do not need to read

For those of you who don't know me(which is a fair amount of 1v1ers), I've been around the site for almost 3 years, mainly watching and learning tiers from afar and entering individuals here and there. My schedule's kinda been super volatile for the last three years and I've always sort of doubted the amount of time/effort I could put into teamtours(there's also an implicit fear of not wanting to let teammates down, yes I do regret bringing clops in g5 w1 when Venusaur farmed 2/3 so long as Rachi wasn't picked) so while I've shadow managed and supported a LOT of different teams in many different tiers over the years and feel really comfortable in singles formats generally, I wanted to take a chance while my schedule was lighter and try out this fun tier that I did really well in 1v1 roomtours with. So, shockingly despite my level of activity and game experience on Smogon, this is actually my first teamtour where I'm playing and this is my first ever win.

I'm far better at something like any of RBY/GSC/ADV Ubers/UU/etc than I am ADV 1v1(just ask anyone who knows me how many essays I can write about suboptimal builds and choices in ADV Ubers), but in all honesty I had fun playing 1v1 casually and wanted to give this a try so that I could get better at EVing for the other ADV tiers I play because I am normally really allergic to sitting in the builder and optimizing spreads for specific interactions - which is a skill I have avoided for a long time - and I wanted to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone. I'm not quite where I want to be with ADV 1v1, and there's a long list of regrets in terms of clicks I've made both at preview and in the games, but I've been having a lot of fun and I can see myself sticking around the ADV 1v1 community if dedicated mains are interested in taking me under their wing a bit after this.

I didn't really mean to write a whole novel here and apologies for the glasses you'll need after reading all this yap but if you made it through this, thank you. I'd also like to thank the number of people who encouraged me to step out of the shadows and actually start playing teamtours to kill my inferiority complex(if you think you count, yes you do - even those of you I don't talk to as much anymore). And more importantly, thank you to my managers for giving me a shot here even if it hasn't been the smoothest road to start. I'm deeply humbled by the fact I went for more than 3K, and a special thank you should also go to crucify for bidding on me during the draft as well; I don’t know if you did that purely to force others to spend more money, but as someone who wasn’t even sure if I’d be drafted, it was a brief confidence booster to think that I was valued enough to be considered for multiple teams.
