Introduction

Hi welcome to my UU Stall RMT. Before new years I wanted to try and get a third gold ladder medal and then proceeded to try to get it in uu not realising it was not an active season. I only realised it after I already was top 10. But since at that point I was already quite close to getting rank 1 I decided to go for it. I did it shortly after and still went on since I was still undefeated on ladder with my team and wanted to see how far I could get. Eventually I lost at 1845 with a 55 game winstreak. At that point I already planned to make an rmt once I reach 1900 but on my first attempt I failed at 1895 and dropped quite a lot after. This was around a month ago since then I have been only playing a ladder game every few days to be in top 3. But this weekend I decided to try again for 1900 managing it with an about 40 game winstreak from 1660 to 1907.

only have the replay for my highest peak since the next game I lost due to a dc and couldn’t take a screenshot.

W/L with my team was in total 288/51
(played a few games sometime before) about 10 of them were due to and timeouts cause my phone internet is bad and the queue times are horrible. (so in theory 41 loses)

Teambuilding Process

I had no real prior knowledge in uu so I took a lot of inspiration from an ou stall team I made https://pokepast.es/7dd3aeafa9f24bbb. Since both dondozo and gliscor are ou I had to search for replacements for them. I came up with hydrapple and clodsire. I made my hydrapple av since felt like I couldn’t fit any status moves anyways and it looked quite decent for the tier. I made the clodsire phys def since walling special attackers in this tier is quite easy and I didn’t rly need the spdef on it. Over the course of my climb I tweaked the sets to better fit the tier but I never really cared to optimize the ev spreads.

Team Members

:Blissey: Blissey
Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled
- Calm Mind
- Seismic Toss

A very basic blissey set deals with most special set up mons. Tera dark is for psyshock, stored power and psynoise. Blissey is very rarely the mon I go to first against special sweepers since I want to get toxic or a knock off first. This lets me force a tera quite often for example on Latios, Sinistcha or Hydrapple. After they terad I can just use blissey to stall them out.

:Toxapex: Toxapex
Toxapex @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze
- Toxic
- Surf
- Recover

I at first was toxic spikes sludge bomb surf but I felt like the set wasnt doing enough since I still lost to quite a lot of mons it was supposed to check so I changed to toxic surf haze. Haze lets toxapex deal with a lot of set up mons consistently including Keldeo, Weavile, Lokix and Scizor. Surf is to threaten ground types with good damage. I use toxic over toxic spikes here because I feel like they are a lot worse in uu compared to ou. Tera ghost is for potential spin blocking and Conkeldurr facade. Leftovers over my usual black sludge since the trick users arent as threatening and can be dealt with pretty easily.

:Hydrapple: Hydrapple
Hydrapple @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Giga Drain
- Fickle Beam
- Body Press

Hydrapple is a great mon for this tier due to its quad electric resist so it can deal with volt switch mons like Rotom-Wash, Sandy Shocks and Thundus-T to an extent pretty consistently. This is especially important because Clodsire loses to them and Blissey just loses momentum and gets chipped down very fast. Tera steel is a great typing that helps it beat its other wise bad mus including Weavile, Latios, Scizor, Revavroom and Metagross. Giga Drain and Fickle Beam as my stab moves that can threaten a lot of damage. Dragon Tail as a way to stop set up sweepers or just to rack up hazard damage. I use body press for the steel types. I use it over earth power since its stronger and is better for the metagame as a whole. It is also great way to deal with pickpocket Tinkaton.

:Talonflame: Talonflame
Talonflame @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Overheat
- Defog

Talonflame is a great progress maker being able to punish a lot of different mons for using contact moves including Scizor, Weavile, Excadrill, Lokix, Ogerpon, Metagross, Donphan and Skarmory. It is important when switching into these mons to make sure rocks don't stay up and if they do you need to play safer. Overheat over flamethrower for the higher damage to get more kos. It is Timid for Tinkaton so you cant get as easily encored into roosts and to be faster than a lot of other popular mons. Tera ghost is mainly for Conkeldurr and Maushold.

:Mandibuzz: Mandibuzz
Mandibuzz @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 120 Def / 140 SpD
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Roost
- Toxic
- Defog

Mixed defensive Mandibuzz is great mon since it is extremly hard to ohko. Which lets it make a lot of progress with toxic and knock off. It is almost always my first switch in to latios since you don’t want to get tricked on blissey and latios can only hit you with draco meteor which you should survive. Tera steel is for Latios, Gardevoir and the toxic immunity. Overcoat to not get chipped by sandstorm.

:Clodsire: Clodsire
Clodsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Spikes
- Recover

Physical defensive Clodsire is fantastic in this tier. It is still a decent special wall but just very rarely used for that purpose. Another benefit is being being able to toxic/earthquake the ground types in the tier without being at real risk. Its main job is to get spikes up and get toxic off on whatever is infront of it. I tried a lot of different tera types for it but all of them had some weakness so I ended up with water. Water is great due to the resist to steel, ice and water. Making the Manaphy, Weavile and Metagross mu better. The 4 speed Ivs are for opposing clodsire I still was sometimes slower btw.

Threats

Hazard Stack is defenitly one of the harder mus since most of the time they have rockers with knock off which makes removing them a lot harder. This mu has to be played carefully and making sure that you slowly weaken their team with status moves and knocking their own boots off.

Conkeldurr especially with tera normal facade can just destroy the team being able to 2ko everything. It has to be dealt with either tera or just slowly weaken it over time.

Arcanine-Hisui both choice band and boots are annoying to deal with especially if hazards are up. You need to scout what its using with either Toxapex or Hydrapple. A lot of times it comes down to pp stalling head smash. Tera is also an option.

Mamoswine can be a very big threat since it hits almost everything super effectively only talonflame being neutral but since you have to roost you can be predicted. Life orb tera ice is especially bad since talonflame dies to icicle crash into ice shard. The way to deal with it is to just predict them first or use tera.

Gardevoir biggest threat to the team trace is very strong being able to cure status with natural cure and getting hp back with regenerator. Its moves with moonblast psynoise mystical fire and trick are also very effective against everything. The way to beat is tera Mandibuzz and somehow status it and knock it off.

Volt turn teams are definitly the hardest mus to deal with there is very little you can in this mu since there isnt rly a way to make progress even if you predict them there is very little gain. These mus are extremly hard and have to be played very carefully.

Closing Thoughts

Overall I would say this climb was very successful. It was also pretty fun but laddering can be quite annoying with long queue times and sometimes getting just +1 and on avarage about +5. The team is pretty decent but can still be optimized.

Unbelievable archivement, congratulations.

The RMT was a great read, I learned a lot.

I really like the team, it worked great even when piloted by me (somebody with litte uu experience)

Amazing job jb
