Don’t let its cute looks fool you; Sylveon is one of 1v1’s most powerful attackers! With Pixilate and Life Orb, Sylveon can go all in on offense with high powered STAB moves. Anything weak to its Fairy-type attacks, like Darkrai and Raging Bolt, will easily fold to Hyper Beam, and with this Special Attack investment even Alolan Ninetales gets OHKOed. Hyper Voice helps against common counterplay by bypassing Substitute from Pokemon like Dragapult and SubSeed pokemon like Whimsicott. Calm Mind gives extra bulk and power, allowing Sylveon to go toe-to-toe with other Calm Mind users like Manaphy and Spectrier, while Fake Tears can provide the extra power needed to break through Assault Vest users like Ursaluna. With this HP and Defense investment, Sylveon looks to secure its matchup against Urshifu-R, giving it the best odds versus Choice Band Surging Strikes. However, Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types like Sneasler, Iron Crown, and Skeledirge can shrug off Sylveon’s attacks. Pairing it with Ground-type Pokemon like Ursaluna and Landorus-T can help cover these common threats.

Calm Mind gives extra bulk and power, allowing Sylveon to go toe-to-toe with other Calm Mind users like Manaphy and Spectrier, while Fake Tears can provide the extra power needed to break through Assault Vest users like Ursaluna (that also might just ohko with gunk shot? not sure about this one...). With this HP and Defense investment, Sylveon looks to secure its matchup against Urshifu-R, giving it the best odds versus Choice Band Surging Strikes (cb shifus are always running a coverage move like pjab or iron head which deal more than surging by a tiny bit more - 112.5 vs 160 ok maybe a lot more). However, Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types like Sneasler, Iron Crown, and Skeledirge can shrug off Sylveon’s attacks. Pairing it with Ground-type Pokemon like Ursaluna and Landorus-T can help cover these common threats.
