Lycan shuffled slowly along the path. His knees clicked as he walked and each step felt heavier than the last. He didn't know how much longer he could go on.
"Let me help you," called a voice. Lycan turned to see a shark following him. How long has he been there? wondered Lycan.
"I'm okay," responded Lycan. "I'll get there in my own time."
"You'll get there twice as fast if you let me help you," insisted the shark.
Lycan still hesitated, but could see the sense in the shark's words. Against his better judgement, he agreed and took the shark's fin. The shark grinned, showing his pearly white teeth. Before long, Lycan was getting dragged along the path, his face grinding into the concrete.
"Stop," he screamed, but to no avail. The shark continued at this relentless pace. Lycan's arm felt like it was being pulled of its socket, while his face had ribbons cut into it by the time they finally stopped.
A monsoon of blood flowed from his temple and into his eyebrows before dripping steadily down to his lips, giving them a red tint like a young Jynx. Through the veil of blood, Lycan could barely make out the shark conversing with his would-be opponent, a shadowy figure. It couldn't be him, could it?
"Michael?" said Lycan, his voice hoarse.
"Silence," thundered the shark.
"I thought Michael was gone," muttered Lycan.
The shark dragged Lycan to his feet. "You will play now." He wrenched Lycan's arms behind his back, making it impossible for him to reach his pokeballs.
"You ready?" smirked Michael.
"My pokemon," said Lycan, wriggling desparately, trying his best to escape the shark's clutches. "How can I play without my pokemon?"
Michael's kartana burst out of its pokeball.
"No..." whispered Lycan.
"Use leaf blade," said Michael.
"You don't understand!" shouted Lycan. "He's coming!"
But it was too late. Kartana advanced and raised its arm to strike, but before it could, an unknown force dragged it back to its trainer. A second later, the shark was blasted into the sky like meowth from team rocket.
"Where did that come from?" said Michael, his voice a higher pitch than usual. But the answer was clear. Lycan stood alone, his muscle bulging as he struggled to contain his pent-up emotions.
"I can't stop him," he said through gritted teeth. "He's coming."
With a scream, he unleashed another powerful blow, this time much stronger than the ones before. The acrid smell of burnt grass filled the air. Michael and Kartana fell in a dishevelled heap on the floor. By some miracle, Michael's glasses remained in-tact. He looked around for Lycan, but he was nowhere to be seen.
In his place, stood a muscular man, easily over six feet tall. Thick fur covered his chest and arms. His hair had grown so long that it touched the floor. It was Lycan, and yet... not. This man was Lycan in his final form.
"Lycan?" said Michael in a hushed tone. "Is it really you?"
"My name is The Baron," the man growled. "It's time I taught you and the sharks a lesson."
