SM SM OU Winter Seasonal #7: Round 4

Doing a counter act post myself and calling act cause yeah, I did specify that I didnt get notified on the discord dms(prob someone was on my pc when I was on the shower which may be my fault but thats not the point here) as I said on my wall(screenshot below) which is why I did send a post on wall(WHICH IS THE PREFERED METHOD OF CONTACT, let me preface that), may be late on week? yeah, but I did give my effort to schedule it out on the prefered method and got answered kinda sluggishly on smogon(check their wall) and did mention I had series during the weekend(5:00pm -3 and 6:30pm, I did take a break from pc after the 1st finished and came back to a act when I was the one starting contact and got dealt with slow answers...?
(edit post writing: if they replied faster on saturday I couldve also played by then, but they took all the way to end of afternoon ‍)

« Slow replies » you mean, like someone who has a job? Saturday where I « waited until the end of the afternoon » as you said, I was working ‘till 7 pm And I even specified I was more reactive on discord because it sends a notification to my phone?
Also for the last messages on sunday, I asked you for an extent, that you refused, even when I specified I couldn’t play too late because of work (wich I’m going to in like 10 minutes) and now you’re calling me sluggish in answering? I can get you not being on discord too much, nut when your opponent specifies sending you a message here, checking once in 5 days doesn’t seem too much imo

I also have a job, nonetheless i tried to not take a whole day unlike what you did tho, if you are playing a tour here you should at least have notifications on somewhere to not miss pings when they happen(which is why is enabled notifs on mobile)
On the extens i did mention, the times you are available dont match mine at all due to me being on work cause its legit when im having my work shift, if you can be on work why cant i as well?

You missed my point, I wasn’t saying you did not have a job but rather that the argument of « taking too long to answer » was of bad faith, also to answer you, no I don’t have notifications on smogon, since I already have to deal with too much mails and notifications, having one for each new tour would be too much.
For the disponibility thing, you’re joking, I’m the one who tried to arrange our schedule the most, even proposing to go to an extend, and when you said it was going to be hard, I waited for so that we could try and find a compromise, and I waited for your answer for a good hour and a half, at a time when you should have been online because it was the time I tried to schedule at first, when you said you had games.
Also about pings, it’s funny you said that when you didn’t notice two separate pms on discord despite being logged on, you said someone was on your pc while you were washing, and I’m supposed to believe that person was either rude enough to open your dms, or that you didn’t open discord for the whole week despite being logged on several times? And it isn’t like I pinged you in a random serv we share, I messaged you directly, you know, in the same pms I already talked with you, wich should be at the top of your pms since you were apparently not too active on it.

Quick edit to add that when you say I took a whole day to answer, I forgot to say it but I was of shop closing duty so I got to bed as soon as I finished working, therefore I couldn’t see your message.

first part is understandable, ok but I couldnt have known if u didnt mention on the edit after, cause theres a whole lot of ppl who actually do it on bad faith and I cant rly know
as for the other part(disponibily on) tho, if you saw that I didnt reply on disc why did you message on smog tho? when someone takes too long or didnt see on disc I usually try to do it on smog as well to be sure but you just didnt and >> I << was the one trying to get it done through smog, also for extension part, its easy to offer an extension when you know it only rly benefits one of the sides and leaves the other on a uncomfy position to play(on this case, me on work), and you exactly did PMd me on the times I was playing for those series, what do you expect? that I open a third eye and answer while playing and all? I was exactly online cause I had the series I left clear from the get go but somehow you ignored that part, also as of disc part, it has happened sometimes b4, I leave with other 6 ppl on my home and sometimes I borrow my pc for someone to use(we only rly have 2 here) so its not difficult to imagine someone using one of the 2 pcs we have here rly(specially cause my lil sis sometimes plays roblox on my pc) so yeah, its p plausible

with this being said, idk if I'll discuss this longer cause its already poluting the thread enough and may make hosts job tougher so yeah

I didn't ping you on smogon thursday simply bc I was busy. I didn't want to bother you also because three messages in three days is a bit much. For the extension part, who said it benefited me? ngl if the bo could have been played on sunday it would have been perfect for me, and the day I proposed for extent (tuesday) is an especially busy day at work. Also for the pc part, I live w people too, yet they all know that if I lend my computer, they shouldn't check my messages, simple privacy thing.

And now I'm going to say something that's going to reveal how we're both dumb, we're not over the deadline, we both assumed it was sunday, but it is next sunday, so how about we reschedule? I'd prefer playing this weekend, evening +1, on that note, I'll go to sleep, as I have to wake up at 3 am all week to work.

So people are just getting eliminated because the host messed up the deadline? kinda surreal to me

It’s even crazier that there are byes next round after coin-flipping like one fifth of the previous round

Nearly half of the matches weren't played and you just proceeded to activity/coinflip everything, this is insane
Messing up the deadline can happen and stuff but acting like nothing happened and just giving losses left & right based on nothing, without any apology nor anything to try to make it up for your own mistake is the worst thing I could've imagine

I get that seasonals are not that important but there were probably some better solutions than this

All matches that were coinflipped didnt have substantial, if any, scheduling. The 2 most common results when going through the walls of players who had unplayed matches were neither player writing anything on each other's walls, or the 2 players failing to get anything off of the ground at a very late point in the week. If you can't reach out to your opponent in a timely fashion regardless of deadline that is squarely on you. Additionally, if youre scheduling over Discord it is on the players to make sure the scheduling is made apparent to the hosts as otherwise I have no way of seeing it and will go off of the much more common outcome that both players just didn't reach out.

That doesn't make any sense, if you have supposedly 8 days left to play a single BO3 and your opponent is super active, there's nothing wrong with taking some time to build before scheduling. YOU fucked up, and you should not punish other people for it nor try to put the blame on them.

When 40+ games couldn't be played in a round, a third of the matches, 3 times more than the previous round, you should at least acknowledge that you made some mistakes, apologize, and try to make up for it instead of blaming the players, this is just pitiful.

Not mentioning the fact that you preferred coinflipping games/giving GENEROUS activity wins and putting some byes next round than giving the slot to the players YOU fucked up.
