Pet Mod Random Tandem (Slate 6: Free Slate)

The Pokemon choices are incredibly inspired and I love the concepts you are going for, but from my understanding you are only allowed a single new move this round, and all of your subs have multiple moves, so I think they would all be vetoed.

As for Dudunsparce specifically, Hyper Drill is definitely a redundant move. Dudun's offensive stats are so wide there isn't any reason someone would ever click Hyper Drill unless it's a Coil set, and like I said at the start, the first two moves are apparently locked into place, so it's odd. (I personally think Roost is a much better move to add, low-key a disservice not to have it here, locked in or not.
Oh crap, well at least I know about the two first moves locked in and only one new move this round, so I highly appreciate you letting me know on those. I removed all but one new move for each Tandem with that in mind.

I added Roost as Dudunsparce’s new move in place of all the other new moves per your suggestion.

I'm not saying Roost should be the new move.... Dudunsparce naturally learns Roost. I was just suggesting that should probably be a mandatory slot

Quick thoughts.

I humbly apologize for Lando low-key power creeping the hell out of the metagame I deadass cooked shit, and we probably will be recovering for a bit. I know zxggyal has plans to need it though.

I have thoughts on the metagame. Centralization aside, I think while the Totems should be intrinsically weaker than heads, they may be a bit too weak. I made the suggestion in discord, but I think we should do a thing where tandems get a universal buff across the board, related to the head but not accessible by the head. For example, of we had a Gogoat head, then all of their tandems could be permanently under the effects of Grassy Terrain as a suggestion. It makes them stronger, stays on theme, and can even get based around certain themed slates if we wanna be creative. We would probably have to retroactively add it to older subs too so they aren't cooked.

Also can we make the example sub canon? Golem is slightly ass but Gliscor and regular Clefable feel like really solid glue for teams right now.

Slate 5:
A Visitor from Afar

One of your tandems may be a Pokemon not found in Generation 9!
-Refer to NatDex movepools
-All other elements must still come from Generation 9, unless it is a Signature move or ability
-No Pokestars or Glitch Pokemon or any of that bs.

One week. Have fun!

I agree with everything you said here (including that last part), and I'm currently brainstorming ways to buff tandems. While your idea sounds very fun, I want play to involve checking auxiliary sources as little as possible. I want someone who's not involved in the mod's creation to look at their team preview and know exactly what their team does and have an idea of what their opponent's does. Also, you would have to keep track of which tandem comes from which head and remember that throughout the battle, unlike right now where it just becomes good ol' 6v6 after team generation/preview. If you could address these things, I'll consider this idea more.

I plan to announce the Tandem buff at the end of this slate, just so I have to time to weight the pros and cons of all the options. Here's what I have right now:
  • Submitted EV spreads. Each tandem would be subbed with an EV spread and Nature. I would limit it to 252+/252/4- spreads just to keep things simple. This would allow Tandems to have the same access to stats Heads do, however players would need to consider which Tandem has which spread during battle.
  • All Pokemon are autoset to 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 EVs. This is for both heads and tandems. This option eases the teambuilding and calcing processes, but allows for less customization for teambuilding and submissions.
  • G-Luke's Idea. See above.
Feel free to share your thoughts here or in the Pet Mods main Discord.

Submitted EV spreads > All Pokemon are autoset to 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 / 84 EVs > G-Luke's Idea

I believe submitted ev spreads would be best, having natures would also benefit them a lot and having offensive pokemon with offensive spreads and defensive pokemon with defensive spreads will allow them to be as equal to heads as possible. I believe it is better than having 84 in all stats but its not a bad idea. G lukes idea may have worked if the mod started from this... but idk, hard to theory craft what every one would get esp (also likely gonna be a lot of issues with bugs). And also i feel tandems are just very weak.... having no evs is just gonna make them super frail, slow, and weak... which means pokemon like weavile are very bad tandems due to being slow and frail (flutter mane doesnt outrun keldeo)

Is there a reason for heads to be set to 84 across the board? Having the tandems set to 84 would still be a significant buff, and it preserves the ability to EV your team. Could always try that and change to something more extreme if it's not enough. I like that a little more than subbed EVs personally, although I literally have not played this meta (yet!) so what do I know lol.

Anyway here's my sub: all mons below 400 BST! nvm I reworked it lol
