Fears nothing but Focus Blast, and 2HKOs back with Earthquake. Technically, if you Tera Ghost you can beat Focus Blast, but if Hoopa just switch out you can't switch into Dark Pulse anymore.

OK, Alomomola needs to be pretty healthy to pull it off, but Mirror Coat is always lethal against this Hoopa-U (and its mere 301 max. This isn't a valid check since Hoopa-Unbound is immune to Mirror Coat, and Alomomola doesn't meaningfully threaten it back.

Assault Vest Hoopa-Unbound is a check to Specs Hoopa-Unbound. It's immune to Psyshock in its base typing, and avoids the 2HKO from all of Hoopa's other attacks. In return, it can attempt to remove Hoopa's Choice Specs with Knock Off, which is a 2HKO. If the other Hoopa Terastallizes, Gunk Shot becomes an OHKO.

Your own Tera Fairy can be used to tank Dark Pulse or Focus Blast a bit more comfortably, but do keep in mind that you lose your Psychic immunity in the process.

I consider AV Ting-Lu a check since in practice Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound only wins if it hits Focus Blast three times in a row if Ting-Lu doesn't Terastalize, which is a 34.3% chance, and Ting-Lu can always Tera to outright win. Tera Poison is so that you still check Raging Bolt instead of being food for Bolt while also allowing you to check Walking Wake. I tend to go for sturdier checks that can delay the use of Tera if they don't need to since blowing your Tera is a huge resource.

This week's victim is one currently swimming under most people's radar. Overqwil is almost always seen on rain teams, an underexplored team archetype. But recently it has been getting an increased amount of usage and a great RMT (Whose EV spread I'll be using. Credit: Delibird Heart).
I have chosen it to celebrate its rise to the surface and to spread awareness of the threat lurking in the dark.

:SV/Overqwil:
Overqwil @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crunch
- Gunk Shot
- Liquidation

Its main appeal comes from its ability, Swift Swim, which allows it to reach an astonishing speed tier of 526 without sacrificing any power. The maximally invested attack stat, the adamant nature and Swords Dance grant Overquil the power to muscle past almost anything standing in its way. Its STAB moves may seem unorthodox for rain teams at first, but they go a long way in polishing rains Matchups against threats like Primarina,
Ogerpon-Wellspring or Rillaboom. Dark Poison is also a great defensive typing with many upsides for rain, like resisting common priority moves like Sucker Punch and Grassy Glide, which would normally be a thorn in the side of such a fast attacker. Liquidation with Tera Water are used to abuse the rain offensively while gaining the maximal power increase by terastalizing into a non STAB type.
For this week's challenge, you shall assume rain will be active for the first few turns.

Toxicroak @ Leftovers

Did you know Toxicroak has a very small niche on rain as an Ogerpon-W answer with Dry Skin? It also handles Overqwil well with a resistance to its dual STAB and immunity to Liquidation, though it cannot switch in on a Swords Dance. Encore means that, once Toxicroak is in, Overqwil cannot then set up with Swords Dance, and Toxicroak can always knock it out before it gets taken down itself.
Overqwil's Gunk Shot is barely enough for a 4HKO assuming that the rain is up, while being Encored into any other move is an instant loss.
252+ Atk Life Orb Overqwil Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 172+ Def Toxicroak: 133-156 (35.9 - 42.1%) -- 43.2% chance to 4HKO after Dry Skin recovery and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Life Orb Overqwil Crunch vs. 252 HP / 172+ Def Toxicroak: 87-104 (23.5 - 28.1%) -- possible 9HKO
Drain Punch's recovery means that Toxicroak recovers a minimum of 105 HP every turn, easily putting it out of range of a Gunk Shot 4HKO.
32 Atk Toxicroak Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Overqwil: 93-109 (29.9 - 35%) (12.7 - 14.8% recovered) -- 15.1% chance to 3HKO

There is one downside to this strategy however, as Toxicroak cannot reliably KO Overqwil with Drain Punch before the Encore ends, while a +6 Gunk Shot will OHKO Toxicroak if Overqwil was locked into SD. This means that Bullet Punch is required to finish Overqwil off after three Drain Punches before it can get off a hit.
32 Atk Toxicroak Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Overqwil: 33-39 (10.6 - 12.5%) -- possible 8HKO

EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpA

- Stealth Rock / Dragon Tail
I've had to dig a little deep for this one, but Duraludon can surprisingly switch in on any move and beat Overqwil without even needing Tera! Its respectable 70 / 115 physical bulk becomes monstrous with Eviolite to make any hit bounce off, while Duraludon enjoys an immunity to Gunk Shot and resistance to Liquidation that makes Crunch the only way to go. Though this isn't a requirement for it to be a counter, this actually beats Overqwil even after switching in on Stealth Rock, and it also beats it regardless of any Defense drop from Crunch!
With this investment, Duraludon is guaranteed to OHKO Overqwil after a single round of Life Orb chip.
136+ SpA Duraludon Draco Meteor vs. 28 HP / 0 SpD Overqwil: 288-339 (90.5 - 106.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

This means that, if Overqwil clicks Crunch on the switch, it will always die to Draco Meteor on the next turn. It then can't KO with the second Crunch, even after a Defense drop!
252+ Atk Life Orb Overqwil Crunch vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Eviolite Duraludon: 91-109 (26.4 - 31.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Overqwil Crunch vs. -1 252 HP / 120 Def Eviolite Duraludon: 138-164 (40.1 - 47.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

If Overqwil instead clicks Swords Dance, it is never able to KO with Crunch, while Draco will still KO it back after it takes Life Orb recoil.
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Overqwil Crunch vs. 252 HP / 120 Def Eviolite Duraludon: 183-216 (53.1 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Overqwil can choose to run a risky gambit and SD twice, letting it get off a single +4 Crunch if it lives the incoming Draco Meteor. However, this isn't even enough to KO Duraludon after rocks!

This week's victim is yet another niche but powerful wallbreaker with very few switch-ins 'cause of her nuclear power in conjunction with Tera. Choice Specs Enamorus is used on some teams to break walls or poke holes in the opposing team with her powerful attacks. I've chosen to put a spotlight on it 'cause I like showcasing powerful special attackers.

Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Ground/Stellar
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe

- Superpower/Tera Blast
Enamorus's main appeal is how she hits pretty much the entire tier with her coverage options and sky-high Special Attack stat and can also hit on the physical side to break Blissey, which is something some special attackers struggle to break due to not being able to hit Blissey's much weaker Defense. Tera Ground allows you to break mons such as Clodsire, Slowking-Galar, and AV Toxapex while allowing you to revenge kill Raging Bolt if it decides to come in after Enamorus KOes something and clicks Thunder Clap. What mons can prey on this threat?

Clodsire is a check. Earth Power has high odds of 2HKOing, and is a guaranteed 2HKO post-Tera, but Clodsire's bulk, typing, and the nature of Choice Specs means that Clodsire can switch in on Enamorus' other attacks fairly comfortably, with the added bonus of not having to worry about Contrary shenanigans thanks to Unaware. In return, Clodsire can slow down Enamorus' progress even further with Amnesia, then use Toxic to put it on a timer. Poison Jab can be used instead to score a 2HKO pre-Tera, or even post-Tera on Tera Stellar variants.
