Here's something nobody asked for and Idk if anybody needs: Mono GG. Felt like making some stuffs due to Arceus coming back meaning Grass, Bug and Rock don't need to cope with an unviable god like in gen 8.

Hey, thank you for even taking the time to post this, and even took the time to make some teams. Godly Gift looks very interesting and at first I was confused on how it worked. But FadedCharm explained to me and now I see this as a fun om to play with and see what we can do as a community. I would love to see how others feel about the idea of Mono GG, so please respond yall. Tell us how you feel. :D

Godly Gift exists as an OM so maybe this is an easier challenge code?

/challenge [user], Godly Gift @@@ Same Type Clause, Terastal Clause

Anyway looks like a cool OM! Obviously my first team had to be Fez Fairy :D

I want to try actually pushing Mono Ubers (Godly Gift has potential ngl) but we actually have enough ubers to make this worthwhile. I've hosted some Ubers tours from time to time in the mono room for a decent user count (15-20).

What is Freed in Mono Ubers?

Pokemon Unbanned: :annihilape::arceus:(x18):calyrex-ice::chi-yu::blaziken::deoxys::deoxys-attack::dialga::dialga-origin::eternatus::giratina::giratina-origin::groudon::ho-oh::iron-bundle::kyogre::kyurem-black::kyurem-white::lugia::lunala::magearna::mewtwo::necrozma-dawn-wings::necrozma-dusk-mane::palafin::palkia::palkia-origin::rayquaza::reshiram::shaymin-sky::solgaleo::urshifu::zacian::zamazenta-crowned::zekrom:
Moves/Abilities Unbanned: Shadow Tag, Booster Energy, Smooth Rock, Last Respects (:basculegion::houndstone:), Shed Tail (:cyclizar::orthworm::sceptile:)

Why I have not included Calyrex-Shadow, Koraidon, Miraidon, Zacian-Crowned?
These guys are simply broken asf not much else.

What types would be the strongest in Mono Ubers?

Dragon is a noteworthy type in Mono Ubers. Having access to 13 (includes formes) strong asf Pokemon that are all varied in what they can do makes Dragon pretty much near the top of viability in terms of types in Mono Ubers. Fairy, Steel, Water and Psychic also look to be very strong.

Calyrex-Ice has always been one of my favourite ubers pokemon in recent times and it is a nice addition to have on Ice. Trick Room can straight up sweep teams on its own thanks to high damage output and massive bulk meaning Ice Rider is not getting revenge killed easily. Weakness Policy works so well because of its weakness laded typing and bulk to survive attacks in the first place. Calyrex at +2 is already killing most things, and its attack will continue to rise with each KO. Iron Bundle also has its Booster Energy legal so that's good for it.

A few first impressions on Godly Gift (which is very fun and I recommend you all try it).
Here's an updated challenge code: /challenge [user], Godly Gift @@@ Same Type Clause, Terastal Clause

Arceus is definitely a centralizing presence for the simple reason that most types don't have a better God. While there are more exotic Gods on other types that certainly deserve exploration (Calyrex-Ice and Kyu-B on ice are both really interesting to give Chien-Pao an absurd Atk stat, for instance), most types and most Pokemon appreciate Arceus's 120 across-the-board stats, especially in Spe. This makes the 120 base speed benchmark an extremely important one in that literally any sweeper you want can be elevated to 372 Spe and scarfers/dedicated fast Pokemon need to exceed this number. In addition, 120 attacking stats mean you can run some weird sweepers or even use a traditional physical attacker as a special attacker and vice versa. Of course, Arceus itself is also a potent sweeper - either physical or special - that needs to be accounted for.

Here are some of the teams that I've been using. Not all of them are... good... but nonetheless I've had a lot of fun theorycrafting them. Thanks to boomp611 for helping me test.

:ogerpon-cornerstone: :arceus-rock: :iron-boulder: :coalossal: :rhyperior: :rampardos:
Rampardos with 120 Spe. Need I say more? Arceus's 120 base stats also help Rhyperior patch up its weak SpD, making its Weakness Policy set more threatening. The other Pokemon get a bit of extra bulk, which is nice I guess but there's room for improvement.

:ninetales-alola: :chien-pao: :kyurem: :baxcalibur: :sandslash-alola: :calyrex-ice:
Calyrex-Ice provides some great defensive stats (100/150/130 bulk) but the real kicker is giving Chien-Pao a 165 base atk stat (which Sword of Ruin elevates to an effective 236 base Atk). Calyrex-Ice is a potent sweeper in its own right and doesn't even have to give its low Speed stat to anybody. Some of these mons should probably be monitored if this OM ever gets to a point that warrants its own tiering action.

:ogerpon-wellspring: :jumpluff: :arceus-grass: :meowscarada: :hydrapple: :torterra:
Fun little grass team. Ogerpon-H is restricted in base GG rules unfortunately so Ogerpon-W needs to be used instead. Jumpluff is interesting, having access to Swords Dance and Strength Sap, but is overall underwhelming. That said, Torterra is a real threat with 120 base Spe. It can run Jolly to speed tie with max base 120s or Adamant for more damage while still having an excellent 339 Spe and access to Shell Smash. Special Meowscarada is perhaps not optimal, but Nasty Plot, special stab coverage, and an extremely important 123 base Spe makes it a very interesting option nonetheless, courtesy of Arceus's base stats.

:scizor: :araquanid: :volcarona: :volbeat: :arceus-bug: :heracross:
This team is just messing around. It is a webs team with five sweepers and it features Volbeat of all Pokemon. While Volbeat's base SpA is only 47, this gets elevated by Arceus to the point where it can actually act as a sweeper (ideally with webs support) because it for some reason has access to Tail Glow. This is part of what makes building Godly Gift so fun in my opinion. (Of course, nothing about this is optimal, but come on, when you have the opportunity to use Volbeat you take it.)

Godly Gift is definitely an OM that deserves more exploration. The fact that every type has an Arceus helps balance things to some extent, making it possible to build and use many types. That said, some Pokemon like Chien-Pao should definitely be monitored.

Playing Godly Gift Mono more and more makes me see the potential in the metagame. With a few tweaks here and there i can see it being develop to a fun om to play. Alot of types has potential and thats what I love about the OMs in general. More types being viable and creatitvity is what makes it fun. I encourage my fellow OMs enjoyer to please speak their opinions about them so we can keep growing as a community. Every voice matters!
With that being said, if there are people who want to play GG but dont really know how the building work i'll explain it. Each Pokémon receives one base stat from a God (Restricted Pokémon) depending on its position in the team. If there is no restricted Pokémon, it uses the Pokémon in the first slot.

Example: If I slap :Arceus: in the first slot on my team (God) then lets say I want my :cinncino: to have more physical attack, I would put cinccino in the second slot. You put your teammates in order of the stat line. First slot=God, Second Slot= Physical Attack, Third Slot=Physical Defense, Fourth Slot=Special Attack, Fifth Slot= Special Defense, and Sixth Slot=Speed.

A example of a GG Mono team comp is like this:

:Arceus: :Cinccino: :Blissey: :Porygon2: :Braviary: :Zoroark-Hisui:

:Arceus: is the ideal God pick due to its 120 Stat line in all Stats. I wanted :Cinccino: to have more attack so I slotted it second. :Blissey: poor physical defense is what keeping Blissey to be an amazing wall so I decided to slot Blissey in the third slot. :Porygon2: has decent stats already so I just decided to slap Porygon2 in the Special attack slot (Fourth slot). :Braviary: is always being a Physical wall for the team so slapping Braviary in the 5th slot to help on the Special Defensive side. :zoroark-hisui: last member on the team, I wanted to bump its speed, so I slotted Hisuian Zoroark last. You can also swap slots Porgon2 with Hisuian Zoroark if you want for a speedy wall >:). Hopefully this helps yall when crafting a team! If i missed something or made an error please let me know. Also shout out to Ethereal Sword for battling me in GG so i can gather Data :)

Happy Building yall! :D Also once again shout out to FadedCharm for explaining it to me when i first ask :D

Hey my fellow Mono OM enjoyers, I'm back at it again with to kind of help new players on what to look for in Monotype AAA. Monotype AAA is a fun om due to the creativity from building a team. What I love the most about it is being shock on what ability the mon has for it as its just a big guessing game. But I'm here to help with what to look for (Take it as like a beginners guide). With that being said, lets begin yayyy. Im going to put like the go to abilites for each viable mon on the type (in my opinion). Also remember you can only have one ability per team. That means you cannot have a full team of Regenerator.

Hey OM! I was testing with boomp611 a mixed OM! In this case, Monotype AAA with CAP!
This is the challenge code: /challenge gen9almostanyability@@@+cap, -crucibellite, Same Type Clause, terastal clause
It's like regular mono AAA but with more options, for example:
:snaelstrom: Prankster for Sticky Web and Stealth Rock
:Pajantom: Corrosion to Toxic and trap with Spirit Shackle
:Mollux: Give it Water Absorb/Storm Drain or Earth Eater for good immunities

Been hosting Monotype Ubers for a minute. It's been very interesting to see and i see potential in the metagame. Thank all the people whos been participating in the tours so I can gather data for the metagame. Y'all the true MVPs :D. So far the popular types I've seen popular is Steel, Ice, and Water teams. Honestly I'd thought I would see Dragon alot. Fairy seen some play but that was mostly just E Sword using it. Once again yall please do not hesitate to share your thoughts, opinions, and teams as it helps us grow as a community!

The development of Mono Ubers is flourishing each day as we speak. From the tours we create, simple challenges, and behind the scences works is making it a promising metagame. With that being said I'm did a little type VR for mono ubers in my opinion from top of the table being the strongest to the bottom of the table being not really good. Hope yall like it, please do not hesitate to speak/share your thoughts and opinions as it helps us grow!

Hey my fellow OM enjoyers, back at it again with a lil resource dump! I've notice when tour nights happen, people always ask: "Is there any sample teams?" Hopefully this encourages people to send teams and thoughts on the OMs to help it grow! Shout out to Mada, Toy Time King, FadedCharm, Fraolain, Trichotomy, theironpikachu, twinkay, silveruby, and me boomp. Some might be outdated but use this as a starter for helping build for the OMs <3

Hello my fellow OM enjoyers I'm back at it again with my lil guide to AAA. Triple AAA is a amazing om that you guess it is Almost Any Ability. This little post I will be going over my little thought process on what I look for in a AAA team. Hopefully this encourages new players to be creative when building teams. Basically what I look for in a Triple A team is what was holding a mon back from being top tier/broken in my opinion. For example: :heatran: Heatran on steel is amazing due to its bulky/ immunity for the team. But, what was holding heatran back imo was the fact it was quad weak to Ground. So you guessed it, I slap Earth Eater on my heatran to nullify that weakness. Next I need team options, :gholdengo: Gholdengo compliments heatran for being fighting immunity for the team but good as gold is banned. Depending on what I want Gholdengo to do is when I pick between abilities. Do i want it to wall break? slap Beads of Ruin or Magic Guard + Life Orb. Do I want it bulky? slap Fluffy or any of the immunites like Levitate, Flash Fire, Well-Baked Body. I decided to go with fluffy as it can handle more physical threats easier. Now I look at my core and see I'm weak to fire, Flash Fire is a nice immunity but none of my teammates be sides heatran would benefit from flash fire. I decide to slap Well-baked body on my :skarmory: Skarmory or :corviknight: Corviknight. Both benefits from WBB due to having their defense doubled after being hit with a fire move. Oh I forgot to mention its fire immunity as well. So now I have my immunity core. Now its just about filling in the rest of the team. :archaludon: Archaludon compliments the team due to its utility, bulk and still able to use Stamina as its ability if it really wanted to. Or you can go crazy and run a Primordial Sea E shot set as well >:). I decided Primordial Sea for giggles. :kingambit: Kingambit is a solid option on steel teams due to being a grate wincon in the late game with Supreme overlord. But what if I wanted to win the game more earlier with the King?! I decided to go Adaptability because at the end of the day I'm basically going to just be clicking Kowtow or Sucker Punch, so why not amplify the damage. Lastly I want speed control for the team so I decided to go with :iron treads: Choice Scarf Iron Treads. Quark drive is just a meh ability already so I wanted to go with a better ability to help with its revenge killing potential: Sword of Ruin. With that I came with this skeleton for a team! https://pokepast.es/a2df134d752bd520 Most of the time whats stopping a mon from being great is just slapping a immunity ability on it. But at that point your more predictable in matches.

Mon consider: :goodra-Hisui: - great specially defensive wall for the team. Hopefully this helps yall get the feel of AAA and would love to see what teams the community come up with as well! Please do not be afraid to post and share your thoughts, lets grow together! And like always happy gaming. <3

Hey besties, this thread was fun while it lasted. However, I am retiring it since every metagame has its own thread in the subforum now. Lets develop these metagames!

Oh also, for minor OMs like Godly Gift etc that people have posted about, we will create a new thread for those to still be talked about. I will also transfer those type of posts into the new thread!

=======

REOPENED CHANGE MY MIND! - kiru..

Folks, let's be real - many of us share the same thoughts on the best unofficial mono metagames we prefer to play. Now that ADV Monotype is a thing - I've had a full taste of what it's like to try and reintroduce a new gen into the monotype tiering system, and despite all the inherent flaws of old gen monotype, I think this is a great system. Supporting older generations of this game feels so much more natural to me than introducing arbitrary rules, no matter how cool the premise, such as a mon being allowed any ability. I play Monotype to LARP as a gym leader and that should extend throughout everyone's favorite gens of mono.

I wanted to post here as a quick temperature check / give y'all a post to disagree with as a starting point. People like AAA and Stabmons mono, and I would love to try and support those if they came back. That being said, with how frayed people's preferences are, I feel like we need to set a line and identify which OMs are essential and should be supported as a base. In my opinion, these are:

1. CAP
2. LC
3. Ubers
4. Doubles
5. Past generations - people love ADV/DPP monotype. Let's continue to put efforts towards hosting/building/incentivizing in these old tiers. Interacting with other old gen players is a great way to grow the overall Monotype community.
6. Monothreat

Nothing else is essential. My list is purposefully uncreative - the rulemakers that established the tiers in MOMPL got it right, to me.

My ultimate agenda is to grow ADV Monotype, Ubers Monotype, and at least participate in other popular OMs people seem to like such as AAA, STABMons, RBY Mono, etc. HMU if you are like-minded in that regard and haha react if you wrongfully think LC is more real of a tier than ADV. I feel like next steps would be trying to gauge between Stabmons and AAA Mono which is more popular, and then based on that figure out what it would take to resurrect the formats. HOWEVER - this would make a lot more sense to not put effort into now, and rather wait til gen 10 changes the landscape of things again. Supporting old gens - continuing to build out ADV Mono - hosting old gen tours and learning from ADV Mono in MOMPL - those are all things which can be done, supported, and I'm here for during the meantime.

Wholeheartedly agree with this post and those tiers are 100% the most pivotal to Monotype OMs' development.

I do want to piggyback off Fentropy's post and put out some additional input regarding STABmons and Almost Any Ability that's been on my mind recently. I really do not think the the two tiers got enough time to fully flourish and the lack of initial resources and overall development support was the primary reason, and I take responsibility as I was apart of these councils at the time and the initial launch of these tiers. STABmons and AAA are often discussed in the Monotype OMs room and I've seen a lot of questioning regarding them being archived, which at the time was probably the correct decision from the moderation team. Life got the best of me and I was not nearly as active as I should have been, if not at all, and specifically with AAA I was aware of Clas' own distractions regarding their other involvements on the forums and boomp having other responsibilities up the hierarchy, which is completely fair. STABmons was even more of a desert with a council of two. Considering that the tiers do have remaining interest in them, and that I do think there are players willing to contribute to their development, me included, STABmons and AAA should really be given another shot. They are incredibly unique metagames and unlike the other OMs have a "customizable" nature to them, promoting incredible variety in teambuilding and compositions, bringing out immense creativity out of players willing to try them out. This doesn't exactly have to begin with the immediate revival of the threads and making them official OMs again, however, more room tournaments and overall discussions of the metagames would gauge potential interest for their revival and we can have an accurate depiction of the playerbases' opinion of these tiers.

I do want to praise the current development of Monotype OMs as a whole, everyone involved has been doing amazing, especially boomp, and I really do see a future in these metagames. I've been having a great time so far participating in MOMPL and the community is just great, I hope there are many more OMs to come and that we can all enjoy what these tiers can offer us, especially with Generation 10 closing in.

2 things because ive been really enjoying myself with mono oms!

I shot the idea to Aeran as an experienced player in both tiers to build gsc monotype after rby was announced and he came back to me saying it looked for the most part pretty good other than zapdos slimly, possibly, maybe, most likely needed a ban. Would love to see if anything comes of it or if he wants to chime in to this thread and give more detailed thoughts like possibly some rankings and effects some things in the meta game has going on!

Other than this i have been loving mono ubers since i played for it in the latest om trios tour. Ive been building some teams up since and currently for mompl and will be more than happy to share my thoughts, builds, possibly personal rankings!.. after sin city wins mompl

Cant wait to share my thoughts coming out of this tour and really deep dive into things!

Hope everyone's enjoying the oms as much as i am!

Hey all,

As Icarus posted above, I have been teambuilding and exploring the potential of a GSC Monotype and will be happy to share some of my thoughts after looking things over for a while now. This is a bit of a longer-winded post than what I normally do, so feel free to skip to whichever part you're interested in.

This proposed version of GSC Monotype would follow standard OU rules, however with the addition of two bans to help discourage over-centralization. Those two banned pokemon being Snorlax and Zapdos.

Snorlax in GSC needs no introduction, cleanly outclassing all other mons even in the Ubers tier and with most OU teams needing multiple checks to handle it. The lack of spikes on some types additionally makes Snorlax oppressive, as it becomes much harder to put into a bad position. Additionally, Snorlax having an excellent movepool and coverage options with surf, thunder, lovely kiss, blizzard, and the strongest self-destruct in the game, make it so that it can potentially beat its own checks.

Zapdos in a similar fashion is very oppressive in the teambuilder since not every team would be coming with a built-in check like Snorlax or Raikou that you would be seeing in OU. Zapdos also has the issue of being immune to spikes, which makes it much harder to pressure and force into bad positions do its good bulk and higher end speed tier in this generation. Hidden power also allows Zapdos to bypass a lot of its would be checks, with water ice and grass effectively covering most of the tier's options to handle it.

Removing Zapdos from the tier allows for more type diversity, removes a lot of auto loss matchups, and speeds up the pace of the game by not forcing all types to run stall to try and handle it.

Water - https://pokepast.es/70c59fcd9d0c7b6f
Water has fantastic natural bulk, access to meta defining spikes and rapid spin, good coverage across the board and options to handle its primary weaknesses.

Cloyster - With maxed out stats can survive a critical hit cross chop from Machamp from max HP, safely ensuring spikes can go off, and with its decent speed tier in this generation threatens to boom on the opponent. Very few things resist the combination of Surf + Explosion in this generation, making it a must have for water teams.

Starmie - Water's speed control in this generation, fantastic hazard control with rapid spin + recover access, and is difficult to whittle down thanks to this generation's poison mechanics. With good offensive coverage options and tons of utility with twave, confuse ray, nightmare, rapid spin, this is a very flexible slot.

Suicune - Great general bulk option. Rest talk + Toxic helps ensure nothing can really switch into suicune without risk and forcing the opponent to rest. Other good options include ice beam and roar.

Quagsire - The primary electric move switch in, since HP grass is less common in this generation quagsire can usually come in safely against mons that spam electric moves, can get a drum off and stay on the field with Rest. HP Rock is the primary move to hit Skarmory which is one of the best checks to Quagsire.

Vaporeon - One of this generation's premier special sweepers, growth is the only move that boosts special attack, which vaporeon makes great use of due to its good bulk. It can also pass it to Starmie or Suicune, or run a double dance option with Acid Armor to become an unkillable threat.

Tentacruel - Access to Sludge Bomb + Swords Dance in a very solid speed tier makes it a pretty scary breaker/sweeper, with hydro pump hitting steel types like Skarmory pretty hard when they attempt to phase it out.

Normal - https://pokepast.es/66c77f3857b1331a
Smeargle - The swiss army knife option of Normal. This is normal's only spiker/rapid spin option, but has a good matchup into cloyster due to being able to click spore immediately which forces it out. Other options could be to run this as a Drum+Agility passer if you want to forego spikes, which can greatly assist some of the other mons mentioned next.

Blissey - The type's premier special wall, since it has miltank as a teammate it can afford to run other moves rather than being a dedicated cleric. With decent special attacking capabilities and great coverage with ice beam/flamethrower/thunder, this can be a deceptively annoying mon to switch into. Counter is an option to dissuade physical attackers from clicking buttons freely since blissey greatly appreciates the maxed out bulk in this generation.

Tauros - Without Snorlax, Normal still has good offensive options with pokemon like Tauros. Double Edge + Earthquake hits most of the tier for at least neutral damage, and the few resists don't appreciate getting melted by fire blast. Thunder or thunderbolt are viable options as well to hit Cloyster for super effective damage, while still hitting Skarmory, however you do make the matchup into Forretress and Steelix a bit worse by going that route.

Kangaskhan - In a similar position as Tauros, has the additional bulk to be able to run roar to phase out opposing curse users.

Miltank - Great speed, access to heal bell, and spreads paras with body slam. What else is there to really say about Miltank? Growl is still a good option to outlast curse users, however you can still run it yourself and find success.

Dodrio - Good fast physical attacker that threatens fighting types such as Heracross that you would ordinarily struggle against. Drill peck still cleanly two shots Machamp, and double edge can potentially 2hko opposing blissey.

Psychic - https://pokepast.es/09a9c49870ba129f
Psychic may be one of the better offensive types, with access to growth passers and great coverage options, and Psychic Stab still being incredibly difficult to switch into due to Dark and Steel not being the best type options in this gen.

Jynx - One of the best lead options in the game, lovely kiss threatens to immediately put your opponent on the backfoot, with powerful ice beams and psychics easily being spammed, and threatens to 2hko most offensively oriented mons in the tier. There are a lot of utility options for Jynx as well, running move such as Nightmare and Thief to disrupt bulkier options, and substitute to give itself free turns to spam its stabs. Jynx also is a fantastic recipient of growth passing, which makes it harder to switch into.

Alakazam - Psychic's best speed option, outspeeds the majority of the game hitting at 338, as well as having the highest special attack stat in the tier. Great options for offensive coverage with fire punch, tpunch and ice punch, as well as utility options in Encore and Thief.

Exeggutor - Incredibly hard to switch into, takes electric moves pretty well, and can pick apart teams with its status options + explosion. I opted for leech seed on this build since it gives eggy some longevity since it is Psychic's only electric switch in, however standard Explosion is plenty viable as well.

Espeon - The goal of Espeon is to pass growths off to its teammates, as Zam and Jynx become far more threatening after a +1 spa boost. Espeon can be a standalone sweeper when packing HP Fire coverage.

Starmie - Similar in the water explanation, provides excellent rapid spin support which helps the longevity of the team. Can also make use of +1 surfs and psychics slamming the opponent since its hard to resist both in this tier.

Girafarig - The last slot is flexible, however Girafarig has the benefit of using Amnesia and passing it on to teammates helping their longevity, while being able to take on mons with access to shadow ball coverage.

Flying - https://pokepast.es/04d003db51ed64ed
Flying definitely feels the lack of Zapdos, however there are still viable specially offensive options, and greatly benefits from being the only type that is immune to spikes.

Moltres - With Fire blast + Sunny day, most mons neutral to fire can't switch in to it comfortably, as it threatens to ohko most offensive options in the tier.

Skarmory - The primary rock neutrality and premier physical wall of the tier. It can run some other options such as toxic or thief over Curse to get the jump on your opponent.

Gligar - The only electric immunity flying has access to, and doubles as a rock neutrality. This slot can also belong to Dragonite if you forego an electric immunity but want something with better overall stats.

Articuno - Similar to Suicune in a sense, however with stab ice beam and a spike immunity. The lack of heal bell this generation means that it is often delegated to a rest talk user.

Aerodactyl - Flying's best speed control, it can run curse with substitute to avoid getting statused, while still outspeeding key threats in the game even after a -1. You can still use an all out attacking set with EQ/Ancient Power/HP Flying and Fire blast.

Charizard - Belly drum wincon with edgequake coverage, and fire blast melting the few things that resists.

Ground - https://pokepast.es/1ca3a28859cbd59b
Good defensive typing overall, however definitely doesn't appreciate the coverage options that are available.

Nidoking - Ground's best mixed attacker which threatens thief or lovely kiss, with coverage that hits the entire tier neutrally.

Steelix - One of the best physical walls in the game, steelix has the added benefit of not being able to be phased out by skarmory after a -1 speed due to roar/whirlwind mechanics when clicking roar yourself. In this tier it doesn't strictly need to run explosion, which frees up rock slide for coverage to not be forced to boom in front of a ground immunity.

Marowak - Best swords dancer in the tier, threatening major damage with just good enough bulk to survive a hit. HP Bug allows it to ohko exeggutor, you can alternatively run rest or fire blast in this slot.

Golem - Access to rapid spin greatly improves longevity, as marowak or nidoking before it uses thief can receive some chip from spikes.

Quagsire - Can help survive mons that are running surf coverage, however doesn't appreciate switching in very often.

Piloswine - Best option to switch into pokemon that are running bolt beam coverage, ice beam and earthquake coverage is great so it isn't something to completely sleep on.

Rock - https://pokepast.es/6e7d4571e91f65f9
So surprisingly this isn't too bad of a type. Normal resistance is very nice, and has access to tyranitar which is one of the few psychic switch ins available. Good enough natural bulk means that Rock can often survive crucial surfs against mons like cloyster and starmie and hit them pretty hard.

Rhydon - Scary curse user, base 130 attack is very high in this generation. Thats about it, it goes brr.

Tyranitar - This is likely the only time you will be encountering a dark type mon in the tier. Amazing defensively and offensively you can tailor ttar to your needs. I would still opt for standard ttar as pursuit is a hot commodity to trap psychic types. You can additionally run crunch over fire blast to immediately put more pressure on psychic, however you do make the matchup into skarmory a bit worse. Screech over roar is also an option to force switches and to make rock slides or earthquakes sting way more.

Golem - Pretty much the same from the ground explanation.

Aerodactyl - Rock's best speed control, all out attacking fits a bit better on this type. HP Flying to threaten fighting types.

Kabutops - Similar to Druidcruel, however with ancient power having the chance to increase all of your stats all at once. Water neutrality is pretty nice here.

Omastar - Bulkier kabutops.

Fire - https://pokepast.es/81aefc6b21807ec0

If you enjoy manual sun and clicking fire moves each turn, boy do I have a surprise for you.

Entei - Manual sun setter, access to fire blast and solarbeam, hp fighting to take on rock types like tyranitar.

Charizard - Same as flying

Moltres - Again, same as flying

Houndoom - One of the few dark types in the tier, worse than ttar overall but its offensive capabilities are nice, as it has the better special attack stat to make use of crunch and pursuit.

Typhlosion - Are you seeing a recurring pattern

Arcanine - Slightly worse entei, but with rest talk to not be a sitting duck.

Poison - https://pokepast.es/8d9af2421c3c5ae2
Has some interesting qualities, with access to some disruptive threats. Drops to psychic, but what are ya gonna do.

Qwilfish - Spikes user, access to hydro pump and curse sludge bombs.

Nidoking - Similar to the Ground section.

Gengar - The only spinblocker accessible in the tier, with access to bolt beam + thief/hypnosis this mon can do some serious damage to the opponent while denying them rapid spin, which can be crucial in certain matchups. Explosion has the benefit of still removing Blissey and the lesser seen Raikou, as well as other misc special walls you may encounter.

Venusaur - Ground type check, defensive set blanks most ground types and disrupts them heavily. You also have access to SD + body slam to spread paras which helps out Nidoking and Gengar if you want to go that route.

Tentacruel - 2nd water/poison type to threaten ground mons with surf, with the added benefit of rapid spin.

Crobat - Crobat has some options for disruption, namely having fast haze to get rid of belly drum boosts, confuse ray and thief. HP Flying is crobat's primary attacking move. You can run rest over confuse ray on crobat, however its mediocre bulk doesn't justify it all that much.

Fighting - https://pokepast.es/78d1c3c7a19c6be0

This is kind of on the verge of not being viable, as it faces similar issues as poison with just getting ruined by psychic, however it has good matchups into Normal, Rock, Ground, and can still put up a fight against flying. Its speed tiers aren't doing it many favors, but the mons individually are still pretty decent.

Poliwrath - Poor man's drumlax. Belly Drum + Lovely kiss is a threatening combo, but no viable stab option on the physical side hurts. Hydro pump is nice though.

Machamp - Primary breaker to try and win with poliwrath or heracross. You can run HP Ghost or Bug in the last slot depending on what your priority is. Bug ruins eggy, ghost hits gengar, and fire blast lets you muscle through skarmory. You can also run curse over EQ to help improve the water matchup a bit to break through suicune.

Heracross - Best option into psychic, with megahorn decimating everything. Enough natural bulk to take a psychic, but not that many. Great curse user into the rest of the tier.

Hitmonlee - Not that many pokemon have access to an attack boosting move that doesn't lower speed, and hitmonlee is one of them. Good enough speed tier to be threatening more offensive threats. HJK is sitting at 85 bp, however it only takes 1/8th of the damage it would have dealt instead of taking half of your hp.

Primeape - Faster mixed machamp

Hitmontop - Rapid spin support

So these types do have access to a full team of 6 mons, but I don't suggest using them. I'll be a bit less detailed for the sake of time on these.

Ice - https://pokepast.es/66e30ff6b191754e
Jynx + Cloyster is nice, but everything else is kind of not cutting it. Not really many options to deal with rock coverage consistently.

Bug - https://pokepast.es/683dbbdfcdf8b792
Your best hope is that nobody has an answer to double dance scizor into something like Pinsir. If they do then y'know. ggs. You also drop to all fire coverage.

Steel - https://pokepast.es/a8aad7fb3ac70875
Barely scraping by with 6 total mons to use. Unfortunately they all die to flamethower, and don't form a coherent type.

Grass - https://pokepast.es/5c231ec26a05bc69
Good matchup into water and ground, bad matchup into almost everything else.

Electric - https://pokepast.es/f058e30312e3a629
Unfortunately Electric suffers without Zapdos. Without an option to switch into earthquake, Electric isn't accomplishing much.

Dark - https://pokepast.es/1c79ec502e302177
Ttar alone can't win games. Umbreon and Houndoom can't support it by themselves.

Ghost - Not enough pokemon
Dragon - Not enough pokemon

These are just some of my initial thoughts after doing some preliminary teambuilding. There is some potential to see some unique interactions since the power level is much lower than in many other formats. If anyone is interested in discussing it further, or contributing some additional ideas I'll be happy to have a conversation on the subject!
