Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

Last minute prediction: The Pokemon Company will unveil that they've started making real Pokemon. A corporeal Pikachu will be displayed in a side view camera the entire time. It will vomit with alarming frequency and then proceed to eat it like a dog. By the midway point of the presentation when the newest update to Pokemon Cafe Remix starts playing, it'll stop breathing and the light will fade from its eyes.

Wow, they're even making breakthroughs for Ghost-types! Technology is amazing.

It would be really funny if they revealed that we're getting 'faithful' unova remakes and then announce home support for legends ZA but due to a bug pokemon from ZA can't enter future generations and is forever BDSP spinda'd.

Champions I just hope doesn't end up becoming mobile slop, as in, they made it very tedious to grind for items without paying real mobile or pull a ZA and lock items to fomo (play ranked or miss out on starter megas for this month). ZA seemed like a stress test for that sort of thing.

My final thought is there will be something in Gen 10 that people will immediately say is AI and that will dominate conversation for the 9 months it takes to get any other information on the game.

Could be anything. Mechanic? Something with the graphics? Probably the Pokemon. Already had a warning shot of this with the Megas (& just personally, I think people would have said the same about the galar starters on reveal) but I think it'll be more wide spread here.
This is totally happening, and I would like to add that, at this point, even if they used AI we wouldn't have a way to know if they actually did, so this would end up being pointless. However, it is pretty obvious they will use some AI, as every game must be using now.

AI will become just another free slot for shitting on Pokémon games.

That said, I would rather they didn't use it at all. The only way for us to know if they didn't is interviews to devs, and they have decreased the number of them these last years, ever since the Dexit backslash in Gen 8 and both the massive leaks and the SV bugs, graphics and performance rage in Gen 9. I don't think GF would publicly discuss such a controversial topic any soon.

However, it is pretty obvious they will use some AI, as every game must be using now.
This is not necessarily true, especially when Nintnedo has gone on record stating they have no interest in it, likely know it's a PR nightmare in the making and all the reports that it doesn't even help much (if at all). You also have to consider that the development timeline might not have allowed for the inclusion of any AI influence outside of like random textures. Gen 10 probably started like 5 years ago (I didn't follow the leaks idk the dates) and the character designs were almost assuredly nailed down early.

This was true until early 2025, when Nintendo America's CEO implicitly admitted Nintendo was considering to allow generative AI use within the company as far as the games kept a "human touch". Further comments on this topic stating generative AI was no different than any other technology may imply its use is already there.

However, you may have a point, as Nintendo's policies are not GameFreak's - that is why I pointed out in my previous post that interviews would clarify this situation. In addition, I partially agree with your post as I believe the vast majority of Pokémon designs will be pretty old, given that we know many Pokémon are created as early as years - even decades - before the games they first appear in.

Even so, that doesn't guarantee anything, as these designs could have been changed during development.

SWSH's 2020 Mewtwo raid was dropped right on Pokemon Day. The SV Mew/Mewtwo leadup was through August-September 2023.

EDIT: The Pokemon Day event for 2023 was technically both 7-star Pikachu in the days leading up to the 27th with a shortened timeframe and then Walking Wake/Iron Leaves shadow dropped with an update after the stream.
Ahh, I see. I always forget about the other presents. It just felt like a POkemon Day thing.

Welp people, it's almost time. I must say, I have no idea what's gonna happen, what they will or won't announce or anything really. All I know is... people will go crazy. For better or worse.

But honestly, I don't think I care anymore. I don't care if people complain of whether or not it's too soon to release a new gen, or that there'd too much mobile app announcements, or that the graphics are 2000s worthy. I don't care about any of that. This franchise has grown to become a major part of my life and it means SO MUCH for me.

I remember, 10 years ago, SuMo where in their prerelease marketing cycle. I wasn't much of a fan back then, mostly since I hadn't had the chance to play any of them. However, a youtuber I watched back then decided to make a playthrough of the games. I watched it, mostly for being him and not much else. However, as I did, I actually found myself enraptured by them. I don't know, seeing the plot unfold, all the interaction and battles. I actually got interested in them! Sadly, I didn't have a 3ds (and never did....) so I couldn't get to play those titles. A little later, I got my Nintendo Switch. It was really exciting for me! I initially got Super Mario Odyssey, and I really enjoyed it! However, imagine my shock and joy when they announced Pokemon Sword and Shield! I was beyond thrilled. I did see the controversy those games got at the time (which did make me feel a little sad, though I wasn't really bothered by any of their points) but that didn't detract from me enjoying them when they realized! Since then, I've only felt more appreciative of them and what they offer.

I know this probably doesn't hold as much weight since I've only been here for the last third of the franchise (and the "end of the good games" according to some). But as I said, I don't give a dang. I'm anxious, but excited for what the future has in hold.

This might be the first instance where it doesn't matter what the final evolution may end up being it will absolutely be an improvement over the stage 1 starters lmfao. 2027 is certainly a choice but hey let it cook.

I wish we did get more info on champions other than "its coming in april" but ig good enough.

Still no home support announced for ZA lol...

Missing the 30th anniversary really is stunning especially since they showed off so much of the game compared to the norm.

But also like...good, you know? They decided it needed some extra time and didn't put it out this year.

I am glad they are taking their time with WW (are we going to call them WW?).

Games look promising graphic wise, and I'd rather not have another SV incident of games running at 5 FPS with tons of memory leaks due to needing to be released in rushed fashion.

There's plenty of stuff to play until then. (As well as people who may not have a S2 still needing to manage to obtain one)

that actually looked fantastic, and I am a hater of modern pokemon games

leaks were all true seemingly. Region will be SEA inspired

Surprised about 2027. That's a lot of time they put in there. Wild that they don't start gen 10 in the year when the franchise turns 30

I am actually a little optimistic for the first time since Legends Arceus

mobile champions port coming in later is interesting. perhaps some issues with connectivity or just trying to optimize the thing for phones taking a bit longer?

also holy shit. its not releasing this year. they genuinely skipped the 30th anni hype to same year release profit nuke. you can really tell the complaints abt graphics got to the higher ups lol

cowboy hat is the best im so pumped lmao yeehaw
