Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

Honestly all jokes aside it really is shocking that it's taken this long to get another Pokemon game with underwater exploration as a major focus. It's a feature that offers so many additional map design, theming and ecological worldbuilding possibilities
yeah my impression of the trailer was that they really wanted to revisit ideas in gen 3 and gen 7

this is the most hoenn + alola looking game ever

also SEA is a really cool area to base a region on and fits the whole winds and waves thing as places like malaysia and indonesia get swarmed by storms all the time lmao
you can see a lot of architecture and plantlife that looks distinctly SEA as well but its still weird to me that the player characters appear to be Australians lol

So just to recap, between the 3DS, Switch and Switch 2 eras we have gotten three (3) games and their various versions rereleased and none of them are even any of the Capital C Classics pre-jump to 3D. 5 months ago Capcom announced a full Legacy Collection for Mega Man Star Force, the most niche glup shitto Mega Man subseries of them all, while we can't even get Emerald.
Star Force? Pfft. Try Legends.

Naming the player character Rover in WiWa is what I'm going to do and no one can stop me.

First Wuthering Waves with the version names, now Varsapura with the region design? What Chinese games are Game Freak taking their notes from lmao

interesting tweet on the japanese names

i thought of legends when writing that comment but i genuinely think it's the more recognizable subseries. you still see a decent amount of people with tron bonne pfps

Last minute prediction: The Pokemon Company will unveil that they've started making real Pokemon. A corporeal Pikachu will be displayed in a side view camera the entire time. It will vomit with alarming frequency and then proceed to eat it like a dog. By the midway point of the presentation when the newest update to Pokemon Cafe Remix starts playing, it'll stop breathing and the light will fade from its eyes.
Okay I might have gotten some of the specifics wrong, but you look at those freakish hyper-realistic pikachus and tell me they wouldn't eat their own vomit.

One underspoken key reason why WiWa looks so much better is because they figured out how to do fluffy textures for Pokemon that look far more convincing than whatever SV was cooking
speaking of ursaring, I think this dog starter would be a great chance for them to revisit the canned gen 2 fire starter line of bear-dog-cats

they were canned and replaced with the cyndaquil line, and the first stage was changed into teddiursa over several of the in development betas

Capcom will never make a Legacy Collection for the Legends subseries.
Of course, there's the implicit assumption we're dealing with major subseries and not, say, Xtreme.
The point I was trying to make is that Legends at least has some vague cultural footprint with the general gaming public, right down to MvC appearances, whereas literally no one who isn't a hardcore Mega Man fan gives a shit about Star Force. I've played several games in the franchise and I cannot name any of SF's characters or point out any bit of its iconography

Yeah, I was sure the trailer was Gen 10, but I kept doubting and being like "is this revisiting old regions? All region game confirmed?" The floating town looked just like Pacificlog and there were a few other things that I kept thinking were specific elements from a previous region.

Anyway now that all that is out of the way let's turn our attention to what really matters

The absolutely nothingburger that was the Go segment.
Blink and you'll miss it. The worst descriptor of an event i've ever seen, puts "first partner pokemon" and "pokemon fire red version and leaf green version games for the nintendo switch" to shame. "There's a tour tomorrow btw". Starter codes.

Bro it's your 10th anniversary where's the anything! Tease some big Pokemon drop. Talk about your go fest again. Shadow drop a Pokemon! Have a fun retrospective!

I thought SV looked good when it came to scaly Pokémon and metallic Pokémon, but I always thought that a lot of the fur textures looked more like felt…

Go's continued success is only surprising because of how many times they've tripped and fell flat on their faces. Baffling choice followed by baffling choice, poor optimization, poor design choice. Not to mention raids represent everything I hate about modern Pokémon. The fact thay I still play these games is only down to how much my friends and family love these games.

But I really don't understand why people are still giving them money.
