1. Money earlier is A LOT more valuable than money later. Unless your plan is very rigid, earlier money should be used to put pressure on others through upbidding etc, as long as it's within the range that a failed upbid can let you pivot your plan. EXAMPLE: If at the start of the auction I got someone like Mishlef off a "failed upbid" for 18k I would not stick to a plan that has me buying Crucify for 30k; instead I would try to aim to get premier slots from other tiers etc. Conversely, if you can weaken someone else's money reserves the same way, you can secure the players that you want the most. In an auction format it is common to want to pass your turn early for the same reason, if you know there is a good player that will demand other people's money but is not in your plan, just nom them for the same reason.
2. Towards the end of the auction money is much less meaningful, so if you have a plan that can spend most to all your money just do it (like overpaying for your final starter etc). In the same vein, people who drain their money earlier are going to just be searching for good final cheap slots and if you have your team settled you can just deny them these e.g with your money lead rather than let them get good final deals (see: rudi 5k). Don't pre-decide how much you would pay for a player late into the auction, especially as options run out. Your draft is going to be less flexible towards the end and you might need certain players more than they would be worth at an auctions outset. Just pay up.
3. Subs are meant to be either flexible or help building or bail into a different slotting plan mid-season; the more subs you have the more pressure on your (at-risk) slots to perform which can be a negative. Draft accordingly. Can be beneficial to spend your money "unwisely" to have 2 less players sometimes on some teams. More-so, just not universally better to have more players in the tank since your chip-winningness is determined by the strength of your playing squad in finals and less by your squad strength. I have a high opinion of this draft as long as there are cord members to step in when Golem-Alola is brought up.
Player to watch: Blanched: Blanched probably was a steal in the context of this auction but in a format like natdex which is both bo7 and new, it's easy to say that having the raw experience of playing tons of formats (including a good offsite run in the tier) will be pretty beneficial for Blanched when playing every week. Has people to fall back to for suggestions (gorilaa deg tgo) as well, should be a good tour.

I would say this team is quite volatile in output, a lot of players here are of pretty good (if inconsistent) at a lot of tiers, including the subs. The problem is to see if they can peak together at the right times (poffs) to try and push the team through to a chip. Slotting is not immediately obvious (where is glitched going? did bern selfbuy to play in adv? was the draft plan to hoard the ss players?) which can be good and bad, but mostly is concerning because of reliability. I think there are a lot of interesting components that when put together can lead to a chip winning team under the right management.
Player to watch: Dez: dez is probably one of the most ancient ORAS players but had a pretty fun showing in US vs World beating Syno while not bringing crack addict squads, I would be excited to see an interested dez play this tour and get some good results. Bonus of being unvetoable when bringing crack since there are no ORAS ball knowers in the cord question mark. I am in support.

For a team with inarguably the relative strongest tiebreak like ever? This is a team that relies a lot on its lower end players to have some good tours, especially with you having to basically teach them their respective tiers; plus you're putting a ton of pressure on the first 5 players to have like outstanding tours. This is also like a semi-second run for westral 3 to win a chip, along with like random bird jerk ghosts. Some great value proven buys like bello figo / Rudi with some promising players isn't the worst to do with. The shorter timeframe of the tour is a kind of boon cause it means ppl can just burn out over this short timeframe in order to win and not be like punished for it.
Player to watch: crucify: 30k price tag probably slightly a steal. I feel like the gameplan is reliant on the top end getting their 1 win a week while tossing builders to the less experienced, and mr bo3o5 is probably ideal in this regard as a team member. Star players woo!!

Mid-draft this team looked like OP with like money in the bank and a lot of key players picked up; unfortunately a lot of that money has since been distributed in a way that seems not optimal? (there will be like 25k+ worth of players on the bench? how much value are you getting from them?) surely that could have been funneled into getting more established quantities to round out the roster right? Solid enough roster to build, but who's playing mg? I think torterra probably given backup oras + sm is filled? Still is kinda speculative cause you're putting a player where you need a win from their slot away from their comfort zone. Maybe don't see the full vision there. Regardless, with two ~experienced managers ready to build in a pinch without the pressure of slotting, there is a good chance things go well anyway.
Player to watch: Nick: ~20k is a fairly high price to pay for the slot, they are going to be expected to sit down and perform, and this should be a good enough tour to prove that they do care about 1v1 enough to justify their price tag. I would assume the impetus is on someone like RADU to carry this team in the builder and let the team hopefully generate wins. I think the slotting is somewhat suspect in general outside the MG slot and that despite having super value picks (6.5 kala 3k smb 8k mc wtf) it kinda has a looot of work that needs to be done to fetch week wins consistently. Also slight issue of spending too much money buying people rather than investing more into getting 10 starters but its offset by getting steals.
Player to watch: Kala: Kala had pretty much a non-tour during wc (albeit they got dropped in a pool with Indi Fancy Kaif wtf) but since SV has been sanitized of Custap and all calls are off as to how the meta will be, I do think they have a fair shot of finding success in this tour.

I am just unsure of what direction this team will get to. Apart from like Indi / Joaf being mostly fixed I could see like 20 variations of slotting and I have less faith in that being a good thing. Also where are like feen / trace getting their teams from for their tiers; there is just a lack of a battery to this squad and that seems like it will hurt the squads chances a lot. Also prices are just like so confusing to me, it feels like this team had so much money but was consistently letting other teams have cheap players and then ended up drafting like 23k nunn as their marquee player which I have a lot less faith in. Also who is playing MG and with whose teams!!

Will add though, PRs usually end up being a footnote by the end of the tour, and regardless of how you are viewed before, make sure to leave your mark on the tour; make sure to have fun playing 1v1, and congrats on being drafted to everyone who did! ^^
all predictions are light hearted and not personal attacks and im also biased
#1 the frogfacts - reliable top end + reasonable players on the bench. The most volatile will be performance of the managers themselves but I would expect this team to win the tour if frogfacts and marsh put up reasonable records and correctly manage a large squad. All eyes on blanched/neomon to put up good numbers as the roleplayers/vets
#2 the giddeys - best top end in the tour but players after bello figo are pretty lackluster. #4 ok i understand u want radu for 27.5 but how is the 2nd most expensive 12.5k happysh??? The teambuilding and qc on this team is much worse on average than the berns and the only bailout is if close cancels his vacation to tryhard for the prunyys (unlikely). These guys are 4th just off of having radu and close(in ibiza) -> hoping happysh/mc/kala/bomb can put up some wins. Misterbrazy underrated pickup too as well as zackpalace being pretty cheap for a self buy + motivated.

The draft does not seem to have a lot of direction as despite having strong players in trace/feen theres like 0 people that will build teams for them. Doodle is probably the best value pick here (indiv finalist last pick 4.5k XD?) but unsure how much his managers trust him to start games. Fundamentals may get them a few wins if indi is dominant and seroo/ncal find success but I expect this team to get heavily outmatched in the builder in old gens due to lack of true mainers

Unfortunate that we lost just before playoffs, but for my first time managing it was a great experience. Basically everyone on the team already had some experience with 1v1 team tours, so it was neat to have players not need too much guidance in terms of teambuilding and processing scouting information. I don't know if I'll signup to be a manger for PL, but if no one else can prove to me they should lead the Heatrans then I might myself :3 Now for the shoutouts:
Call me PK : Thanks for keeping up the building ethic throughout the weeks, its something that players are prone to with burnout, but you kept persisting and I appreciate that. Your first 2 weeks in DPP were not favored by the RNG gods, but seeing your wins in SS then a double win in Multigen was a fantastic display. Hoped you had fun these past 5 weeks, especially when you had to build against frogfacts and RADU.

SEROO : Mantyke go brrrr. I'm glad you enjoyed building absolute hydrogen babies during your time in BW, I know its a tier you def had fun building with these past five weeks. Its unfortunate Game Freak didn't add more hp to Shieldon, cause a face like that is built to metal burst kek. I know I prob should have told you to use more "standard teams" but you seemed to be having way too much fun and I respect that in someone who can build what they like while also making sure they actually help and not hinder a team. Sificon : Idk if you remember, but you were one of my opponents way back when during one of the 1v1 Majors, and back then was when I was just getting used to how to cteam. Reason why I brought this up was you unknowingly helped me enjoy and improve in 1v1, along with all my other opps in that tour. Anyways, thank you for helping us not go 0-5 in ADV, even with some RNG against that Venu you were bound to win anyways.

glitched invaluable wins in oras, i didn't really think the oras through when drafting the team tbh i just drafted sib and tenzhii and thought that'd be good enough, but you showed how easily you can adapt to tiers and overcome obstacles presented to you, you were a star player no doubt.
Frailty that last act call was a heart-breaker for me, outside of that you're a great player and you know that.
DezShizzels good showing, great support, overall a nice character, not much else you can ask from a player tbh, glad i drafted you.

zo i wish things were different and you didn't have to bear all of that, genuinely, it's the experience that gives us growth imo but losing to thr's gotta do something to someone's mental as well.

this tour did what a lot in 1v1 haven't done lately, which is have a hype playoff race!! so even then im glad it was a pretty tight race and having every team with realistic playoff outcomes was really entertaining, which hopefully a lot of people could appreciate
first off the porys, overall i predicted this team last in my prs, and it lined up with their performance this tour. As a whole i just thought this draft was pretty weak, and it felt like the managers kinda randomly decided who to spend money on mid auction. It felt weird that so many players that tend to just use what they are given (trace & feen for the most part) were drafted without a team with a huge amount of broad building support and people with really specific prep styles. indi's style of building is usually pretty on the run and seemed hard for supporting other people, seroo runs a lot of out-there pokemon or sets (mirror coat mantyke this tour but previously famous for sunny day blaziken) and also locked out of his main gen of oras. Tol also comes to mind but he's before my time for the most part :wilted_rose:. Coupled with the fact that neither manager performed up to their recent performances, the things going wrong with the team were not really alleviated. indi winning in any weeks he didnt besides 4 meant their playoff chance was a lot higher, but ultimately the porygons would not have had much agency in playoffs odds. After being pretty dominant for a while, indi struggled in this sv pool, snagging one win in uu before the 0-3 b2b2b. I was also confused by a bit of their slotting, i feel like doodle should've been the sv7 if indi wanted to uu for the tour or even just week 1 since he has good seasonal runs and rec I haven't seen around in ages. Current gen favors activity the most out of any tier and anyone that's in the 1v1 discord can attest to doodle's. The old gens also had a bit of a harder time, especially adv which was definitely the Achilles heel and another pilot slot/inexperienced player that would've done better with support. joaf is an adv regular tier menace but i feel like he was thrown off the deep end and left to rot a bit in prep (adv disable week 1, 3-0d by arcanine week 3). A lot of teams do have a slot they struggle with the most, but when this team needed one more win multiple times in the tour, it could've been a turning point for the season had it done better. The seroo game for this last week also made me question the amount of overall support/checking went into the older gens (nobody in the server seeing metal burst shieldon or correcting that is kinda wild). As a whole this team could've succeeded better if 1) indi had his PL amount of success and 2) if there were more overall builders than a lot of specialists. btw @hosts can we please ban names that are literally old pl franchises (or like same name with a baby pokemon) in the future it feels weird this was allowed but heatrans had to rename (neither should exist in a non pl tour but idk it seems like it shouldve been the same scenario).
first off BOMB SWEEP the only reason i was fine with uu was because of you bomb if you're reading this. custap spinarak will be the legacy you left behind on this team and it's a damn good one. this team looked decent to good on paper, but unfortunately a lot didn't really pan out. zack and pruny also double self bought, with pruny being one of the 3 positive players on this team while zack went 1-3. The huge buy they spent on was radu, which unfortunately ended with a 1-4 but looking at his series the only one with real impact on the team's fate was week 5 (where there was definitely some shenanigans). Close is also someone that everyone was shocked to see 10.5k as a top 10 player all time, but his vacation meant missing most of the tour, and his 0-2 present before leaving didn't really do any favors. this team had a good balance of steals, smbz for 3k was objectively crazy, bomb being 5.5 also a steal imo regarding his recent performances and uu being right up his alley. Mc being 8k was also not bad for a classic runner up but not building much and having the people that would build for him have spotty tours from time to time (smb for dpp and zack bw respectively) kinda had his performance trajectory up in the air. thr had a decent season loading a lot of Niche Pokemon, which is a pretty broken strategy with the diversity of natdex. A lot of the bench got little to no use, which I am pretty surprised about. podra & portrait have played in tours previously and been decent, slowthepoke was only put in this week and got sub out, and probably the player i was saddest about was sheepie not getting some playing time. i was looking forward to watching them play since their 2v2 gameplays pretty good! The bench underutilized felt weirder considering happysh kinda bounced around instead of riding out with someone new. Maybe because he was a bit more expensive looking at this roster but still i think it would've been worth a shot. A lot of the issues of this team was nobody was really The Carry despite records, bomb, thr, kala chasmah, and smbz were the only players to win series two weeks or more in a row. For the latter two, this preluded them starting 2-0 into 2-2. This consistency rly hurt with the early losses, losing out to the gogoats and losing 2-8 to kinda tossed any agency in their playoffs race to the gogoats. shoutout to rumia for ending the porygons season with a golduck tho LMAO that was fire. overall a lot of highlights from this team but the foundation not being built early kinda bit them in the ass later.

I was really interested in the slotting of this team when traditionally mishlef, glitched, zo, and frailty all play ss but zo slotting nd was unsurprising. I was glad to see gp get a nice start in tours after festival, and even if it was uu it's great he got his foot in the door here! bern also one of three players to complete the iron man so gz to them asw. there were a lot of good performances on this team, hence them being rly close qual wise, bern with the previously mentioned 5-0, anon, mishlef, and glitched going positive in strong pools. Unfortunately, the elephants in the room are both zo and mist going winless, with 0-3 and 0-4 respectively. I think bern wished on a monkey's paw before the tour saying "i will go 5-0 in regular season" and then it curled with the condition the natdex slot would go 0-5 LOL. just like porys a win in close weeks would've done wonders for the playoffs race but it just didnt land. the pretty negative records made bern's 5-0 less meaningful overall, and this team really had the potential to sneak in as a third seed considering they tied the top two seeds and beat gogoats head-to-head. Lia unfortunately had bad avail this tour, so it definitely hurt, especially since going 7k in the hole hurt chances of potentially finding other people (and also contributed partly to the act loss week 5 even if it was indirect). i was surprised to see lb not play much since the start, i guess it was spl related??? I would've guessed he would be fed in natdex since zo has a lot of teams and lb is just a good pilot in general, but mist came in instead. It kinda surprised me but the best time to slot is deadass when youre a manager with something to prove so i respect the hustle. That being said, putting an 0-x slot in for another 0-x slot was definitely a choice, i just think other options could've been considered since the roster is pretty flexible. This team was definitely a contender through and through, getting to literally one bo3 series away from semis but they couldn't finish the climb.
