SV OU A Team of Ice and Fire - Choice Band Weavile + Shuca Berry Volcanion (Peaked #1 2117)

:sv/weavile::sv/volcanion::sv/great tusk::sv/hatterene::sv/gholdengo::sv/dragonite:

Hello everyone, posting an RMT again after almost a year, I built this team couple days ago around choice band weavile as it's tera dark knock off are very strong in the meta currently and I ended up making a cool team out of it with fun techs which ended up doing really well on ladder, I also live recorded couple showcase games at 2100+ with this team which will be linked below, hope you like the team. Title is reference to the game of thrones books, A Song of Ice and Fire

Table Of Contents:
1.Proof Of Peak
2. Live Team Showcase and Breakdown
3.Teambuilding Process
4.Threats
5.Replays
6.Team Importable

1.Proof of Peak

(Laddered up on a side test alt so gxe is bit cooked, got 88 gxe on a private alt with this team too)

2.Live Team Showcase and Breakdown
I was laddering with this team in a voice call with vk and decided to record couple games live after we hit 2100+, team breakdown at the end of the video as well

3.Teambuilding Process

:weavile: - Main idea was to build around choice band beatup weavile, but after making the team I realized beatup is weaker than knockoff here so decided to remove that, tera dark choice band knock off are still very strong and potent in this meta when paired with right teammates
:weavile::volcanion: - I wanted a really strong pokemon that can threaten pokemon that annoy weavile like corviknight and skarmory along with baiting mons like great tusk, volcanion also resists fairy, can break through fire types like moltres, water absorb to help with ogerpon-wellspring and walking wake, very bulky, and very strong, overall was just a really good fit with weavile, wisp also gave backup insurance vs setup sweepers like dragonite and kingambit
:weavile::volcanion::great tusk: - I had two rocks weak pokemon so needed rapid spin on the team, and av great tusk made the most sense, can stay in on air balloon gholdengos easily to get spin off and takes very little from pecharunt so forces a tera ghost on them if they want to continue spin blocking after which weavile has a field day
:weavile::volcanion::great tusk::hatterene: - Tusk alone isn't enough hazard control in current SV so put a hatterene as well which dissuades opponent from clicking hazards, as the tusk is av team doesn't have rocks so hatterene can magic bounce on opponent clicking rocks and we can get up rocks that way as well. This also helped with zamazenta which is one of the biggest problems for weavile so was a good fit overall
:weavile::volcanion::great tusk::hatterene::gholdengo: - Wanted a choice scarf pokemon for speed control along with something for espeed dnite, backup into zamazenta and kyurem, gholdengo made the best sense as it is one of the best pokemon in current meta along with baiting in pokemon like ting lu which you can double on and force progress by switching to weavile on the it, trick helps as a good way to have clear path in endgames lot of the times, also another fairy resist to take the pressure off volcanion
:weavile::volcanion::great tusk::hatterene::gholdengo::dragonite: - This team still needed a setup wincon and some heavy anti setup stuff as currently team has a lot of power but no one really sweeps, hence I put encore mamonite on it, this paired really well with healing wish hatterene as well to let dnite go back to full after its first attempt to go at it again, was also a much needed flying type for grounded immunity, due to having good hazard control I could go with leftovers and not need boots

4.Threats
Vs Stall it's probably a loss, team has a lot of power and tools, but the biggest factor here is we have no rocks so very hard to rack up damage on opposing mons even with stuff like tera dark weavile and trick gholdengo
Some stuff like tera water toxic glisc, sash ceruledge, specs kyurem etc. could be annoying too, but I would say its manageable and you can play around it

This is the most savage team ever, pure power, no BS.

a couple thoughts - ur mu into heatran and gambit seems strong enough here that seeing as you're tera dark here I'd suggest looking into beat up over low kick on weav, it hits a very solid 94 bp on a structure this offensive, and makes no contact which is huge into annoying helmet guys and birds. I've also really been liking an av tusk spread of 184 hp/20 atk/144 spdef/160 spe adamant, it outspeeds and ohkos bolt while living huge hits like dengo + 2 mir and waterpon pwhip - i'm a greedy mf so i'd test that out here asw but it very well might be better to go with a spread that outspeeds dengo on a team where ur ghost resist is weavile

fire team tho boss volcanion is so strong rn

Congrats on the peak! When you hit #1 a team clearly doesn't need many (if any) changes.

But you mentioned stall was an issue, so am wondering whether techs like Taunt over Will-O-Wisp on Volcanion, adding Recover on Gholdengo or even something like Future Sight on your Hatterene could help that matchup without weakening your strong matchups into balance and offense too much?

Team looks sick and I think this is the highest peak I've yet to see lmao
What are the tusk evs for tho? Out of curiosity
It's to live 2 psychic noise from slowking-galar if I remember right, but not a relevant calc for this team, it just was a spread I had and worked well on the team so kept it

CB Lowkick is mainly to get the kill on specs kyurem as team does not like switching into it, additional benefits of it getting rid of gambit quickly for dengo to become really annoying for the opponent or getting good damage on ting without having to risk axel miss are good too, though if you want to run beatup vile over lowkick you can as that would help the moltres and dozo matchup more in return having to give up the above stuff, fine tradeoff whatever you like more, the tusk spread can be whatever you want should be fine

I think volcanion needs wisp here to make pokemon like dragonite and ogerpon-wellspring useless and further insurance into last mon gambit and such stuff, making the really strong mus the team has weaker for slight chance into stall isn't that worth, it's SV so have to let go off some mu's and be really strong in the others. Adding recover on gholdengo might be better as I hardly clicked focus blast with dengo, and fs hatt works too if you want to put it, though I doubt these 2 changes alone would make the mu good as main issue is still without hazards its tough to pressure stall unless they for some reason let hatt magic bounce it

Thanks to everyone who liked the team, glad you all enjoyed it
