Smogon Premier League XVII - Commencement Thread

The ruling on this RBY game was never going to be clean or easy, but the decision was disappointing. SPL is intended to prioritize competition, but this does the exact opposite. I respect that hosting is thankless, but I ask you guys reconsider.
This is obviously far from ideal, but given the server crash and not wanting to penalize a team for Monday - Wednesday availability they could not have foreseen, it’s what we got.
Electing to draw the line at Wednesday without any precedent is completely arbitrary. You cannot tell me why Wednesday was picked after Monday instead of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, etc. -- it just would be met with a "shrug, this is what felt right" as opposed to anything concrete. The initial ruling was for them to play Monday with no possible subs -- this is because one team can abuse this if they think a double sub favors them. Why did a complete reversal on this happen all of a sudden?

Any outcome here is inconvenient, but nobody is harmed if players are given another couple days to complete their set in the event of an uncommon server outage. Our priority is having the intended and best competitors play, nothing else. Please reconsider giving Sceptross and Laroxyl more time to play.

I didn’t want to make this post, but I feel I have to because I don’t believe the decision that was taken is fair to me.

TLDR:
On Monday, I told Sceptross that I wouldn’t be able to play on Sunday because it’s my birthday, but that I was available from Monday to Saturday. He replied two days later saying he could play on Saturday, although he wasn’t sure about the exact time. I kept asking him to confirm a specific time within the availability range I had given him, but by Friday I still didn’t have a confirmed schedule.

On Saturday morning, he told me he needed to postpone the game, and we agreed on a time later that day. I had availability until 8:30 PM GMT+1 because I had dinner plans afterward. I didn’t expect the series to last that long, so after Game 2 I asked if we could take a 15-minute break since I had ordered pizza and it was arriving around 9:15 PM GMT+1. He kindly agreed, and we started Game 3 at 9:22 PM GMT+1.

Unfortunately, the server crashed during Game 3 and we had to reschedule.
I proposed this.

When trying to find a new time, Sceptross only offered 9:00–9:30 PM GMT+1 on Monday. Given the entire situation — that I spent the whole week trying to sort out scheduling, that I had wider availability overall, and that I was flexible even after the crash, I don’t understand how it’s fair to sub me out instead of subbing Sceptross.

I even asked to play right then and there (around 1:00 AM GMT+1, which was 12:00 AM GMT for him), but that request was denied. So I’d also like to understand how it’s fair to sub both of us after everything that happened.

I was ahead in Game 3, and that game can’t be recreated either, which makes the situation even more frustrating.

This post is not against Sceptross, I know he had scheduling issues this week, and I don’t think he acted in bad faith. We’re friends, and I also want to say that the hosts have been doing a great job overall. I’m only making this post to express that, considering everything involved, I don’t think this decision is fair to me. I don’t believe I should have been subbed out and effectively penalized after all the effort I made to make this series happen.
