Project SV RU: Next Best Thing (NFE Mons!?) (Submissions Open!)

:mimikyu:
monstrosity (Mimikyu) @ Red Card
Ability: Disguise
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave / Will-O-Wisp
- Rest / Pain Split
- Light Screen / Curse
- Shadow Sneak

what the hell is this. Well, Mimikyu is my favorite spinblocker, not because it's good but because it's FUNNY. Phaze around with Red Card while patching up some of hazard stacking teams' sus matchups. You can spread a status of your choice, and you always have the option of Curse to troll demon sets, or set Light Screen if you have a free turn.

Will Choice Band or Trick Room support win this week? You decide.

Mimikyu @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Disguise
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak

This is a funny mmq set I cooked up a long while ago (though how good it is would be up to debate). The primary goal of this set is to lure in Pokemon such as Registeel or Quagsire, cripple them with Will-O-Wisp, then prevent them from recovering with Taunt. This ensures that if it switches in correctly, it can help break down bulkier teams for teammates to benefit. And this set still has the useful qualities of its normal set due to Play Rough+Shadow Sneak to help against offense.

Mimikyu @ Red Card
Ability: Disguise
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw
- Play Rough
- Thief

Replacing one move with another? How original.

HO has some item removal options, such as krook's Knock Off and garde's Trick (it isn't techincally item removal, but garde can pawn off scarf to cripple mons). Thief is an unique item removal method, allowing mmq to steal and use an item. This pairs well with spike stack HO, as mmq can remove boots to rack up hazard damage. Thief can also cripple mons offensively and defensely outside of boots. For example, Red Card can force mein to come out, so mmq can use scarf against it (alternatively, mmq can stomach mein's knock off from full and steal its scarf). Even if mmq is faster, sd allows it to still abuse Red Card.

Thief has its downsides, however. The aforementioned speed problem against slower mons means it can't utilize Thief immediately. In some cases, mmq can't do anything, since it doesn't have Shadow Sneak for chip. Being choice locked or having av means it cannot futher boost its attack. Specs in this case is the most crippling, since it has no revenge killing opportunities, no physical attack boost, nor better special bulk. Stealing Toxic Orb from loom puts it on a timer, even more useless if loom already procs Toxic Orb. Finally, Thief is a one-and-done move, meaning it cannot remove another item.

Careful Nature

- Curse / Trick Room
- Destiny Bond

I think mimikyu if not working as an all out attacker has to be used as a spd wall of some sort (seriously why does it have base 105 out of everything), sure there's def sets with willo that could work but it feels redundant with the low natural def.
Twave and sneak were automatically put in for speed control, destiny bond I think is a must in case Red Card wasn't enough, plus if you are slower and bond you get a free turn to Curse or Trick Room depending on how you build your team.

I know the RUPL draft is happening like RIGHT NOW but I'll be extending the voting period for a day, to see if we can't get some more votes in.

As there is a tie between Claire's set and Tubular's set, I'll be breaking the tie, and by my own vote, Claire2525 wins this week's Next Best Thing! Thank you everyone for participating once again, and next week we'll be doing something a little out of the ordinary... An idea courtesy of our very own Winterbub!

Week 6:
NFE Mons

DiancieVividVoltage79.jpg

Hello hello hello!! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Next Best Thing! This week we're doing something REALLY out of the norm, idea courtesy of Winterbub; For the challenge shall be to use any NFE (or Not Fully Evolved) pokemon on a team! Just for a clarifier, this is referring to the TIER NFE, not the idea of using any mon that can use the eviolite (if that there the case, anyone could just make a chansey or bisharp team). The interesting thing of course will be seeing how y'all take this direction! Do you downgrade a mon to a lesser version, do you use a weaker version of an RUBL mon, or do you do something entirely unexpected? All that and more is up to YOU to decide, as you find whatever the Next Best Thing is for some RU mon!

Aside from the specific focus on NFE the tier, none! Go crazy!

Submission Deadline: Have your set submitted by <t:1772902800:f>

Voting Deadline: Voting will close on <t:1773158400:f>

Submitting two sets cause I can't decide between either.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Foul Play
- Ice Beam

While its movepool may have been gutted in the transition from gen 8 to gen 9, p2 still has some useful tricks up its sleeve. This set is designed around letting p2 sit on a lot of attackers pretty freely. Tri attack is a decent attack that lets p2 output a good amount of offensive pressure, with the secondary effects making it potentially dangerous. Foul play stops physical setup sweepers like Mmq from getting to comfy, while Ice Beam can slam stuff such as Noivern and Suicune for good damage. Tera Water is just a good all around tera. The spdef evs ensures its never 3hko'd by Armarouge Armour Cannon.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Tera Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Recover

What if you wanted pz, but to have it actually live hits? This set is designed around proccing download to become a very annoying pokemon to stop. T-bolt+tblast coveras a good chunk of the meta naturally, but tblast ground can be used to further pressure Pokemon such as Armarouge and Amuk. T-wave also ensures that the few things that can switch in are crippled for the rest of the game.

Bayleef @ Eviolite
Ability: Overgrow
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Counter
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed/Synthesis
- Giga Drain

R U tired of getting belt to assed by random physical attackers ? Well I have the perfect counter for you ! Bayleef is here as a funny support option with Knock Off and Leech Seed (Synthesis can be used instead for better longevity), and Counter helps it exchange blows with big physical attackers such as Krook, Bisharp, and Lycandusk. Giga Drain is obligatory Grass STAB.

Gallade isn’t real and cannot hurt us.

:sv/naclstack:
Naclstack @ Eviolite
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Salt Cure
- Recover
- Iron Defense / Curse
- Stealth Rock / Protect / Body Press

I really wanted to find a usable set for :misdreavus: Misdreavus that would work against real humans, but I simply couldn't come up with something, and I only present sets that have an actual use instead of mons that are straight up outclassed by other better mons in all they try to do. So instead, I looked at Naclstack and figured we could probably do something with Salt Cure.

Ever since Fez rose to UU, Covert Cloak vanished from the tier, so it's very free to click and we all know how busted Salt Cure is. It destroys all the Waters and Steels of the tier, and there are MANY of them. Slowbro, Quagsire, Empoleon, Basculegion, Jirachi, Registeel, Bronzong, Bisharp, F*rretress. On top of that, Purifying Salt makes you immune to Status, so you can't get Toxic'd by Umbreon or Quagsire, or burned by Talonflame, etc. Naclstack is also prefect for screwing with our Defoggers Talonflame and Noivern. What I like the most with Naclstack though, is its matchup with Rain and Sun thanks to Tera Dragon. It destroys their weather setters and Salt Cure is incredibly strong into their abusers.

I recommend running Iron Defense over Curse, even in non-Body Press sets, as you really need the higher defense boost, and Salt Cure will do 0 anyway. Protect is better for Naclstack itself, but I would completely understand if you can't fit Naclstack + another Rocks setter in your team. If you do manage it though, it does make the set better.

Here is a replay against a Sun team where Naclstack completely shuts down Scovillain and screws with Torkoal and Quagsire, keeping Rocks up and chipping their HP Away.
