Semis time! It's curious to see a matchup that has occurred in the very last week (Diancies vs Celebis) and one that happened at the start of the season (Heatrans vs Hoopas). Some slots have changed a lot, others have remained the same.
Every team that has reached this stage has a story to tell about their season and strong motivation to try and win it all. Diancies will try to finally break the curse of the first seed in Rbtt; Heatrans seemed hopeless after the first three weeks but then they got three wins and a draw that probably make them the team with the biggest momentum coming into playoffs; in the first edition of Rbtt that will lead to franchising, the historical Hoopas are trying to win their third title; last but not least, Celebis winning would be the triumph of the underdogs, especially after the disaster of a week 1 they had.
Without further ado, let's see some of the highlights of the week!

Gen 9 Random Battle (Bo5): JJ09LIE vs pokeblade101 > last year, JJ won twice against Blade to mount the incredible comeback from team Zeraora that lead them to advance to the finals and then win Rbtt. This year Blade has the opportunity to redeem himself. He beat his opponent in Wcor but here the stakes are way higher and he can vanquish the phantoms of the past once and for all. Really hype match (also because they tend to make very ballsy plays against each other lol)
Gen 8 Random Battle: Zap vs drowsy69 > speaking of people who might want to redeem themselves, drowsy is 0-2 against the canadian. If you look at this format, you can't ask for a better match given that it's #1 vs #2 in the pool, so let's see if third time is the charm for the Wobb guy
Gen 6 Random Battle: JustOut459 vs NoName6293 > rematch of week 1, where the result was the one we "expected" given it was NoName's first match in Rbtt. Fast forward and the indian is on top of the pool so Justin will have to bring his A game to make it 2-0 against his opponent
Gen 5 Random Battle: Gom vs jyusaan > for the series "friends playing each other", both of them are coming from a loss in the last week of regular season. The brit is one of the candidates to claim the MVP title at the end of the season, Gom will try to finish their first positive season in Rbtt
Gen 4 Random Battle: Chains of Markov vs Wigglytuff > Chains is finally debuting this week, hooray! I don't know how accustomed he is to Gen 4 but him being slotted here is the result of some interesting shuffles from the Faction, both involving dutch players. Wiggly's records in rands tours are the definition of a roller coaster and this seems to be a down season but in semis your record doesn't matter too much so he could maybe add some points to the W column
Gen 2 Random Battle: Michielleus vs Flights of Fantsy > here is the big surprise of the week! Well, it is not entirely surprising given the struggles of the Heatran's Gen 2 slot and the way they have been using Mich, slotting him in three different formats. I can think of three big reasons why this series is a must watch:
- Mich in 2 is intriguing but on paper, he is less accustomed to this gen than someone as great as he is like Losco
- Fantsy is having a great season
- These two have played each other a gazillion times, so this will inevitably play a role in how the series is played
Gen 9 BSS Factory: Slikkles vs yone > it seems like BSSF got taken over by the french this year, with Slikkles topping the pool and Yone keeping a positive record for the third year in a row. Slikkles won week 1, when Yone seemed less brilliant than usual, both in their match and in the season but there is a reason why this guy was considered the best in the pool
Gen 9 Hackmons Cup: oaklies vs platinumCheesecake > I am surprised to see oak going 2-5 but such is life in Hackmons Cup sometimes. Maybe the Wonder Guard removal really affected him... Jokes aside, oaklies is a very competent player but Platty topped the pool for the second year in a row, showing that this tier runs through him
Random Roulette: Trade vs livid washed > sometimes Random Battles teach us that one bad season shouldn't define the quality of a player and Trade's case is a good reminder of that. After struggling so much in Gen 4 and "retiring" last year, she has returned with a vengeance and her 5-2 record just shows that. Livid is also (barely) positive but there is a reason why this kangaroo man has been a round 1 pick and he'll try to remind everyone of that in the battle of the aussies

Gen 9 Random Battle (Bo5): Career Ended vs Separation > this is becoming a rivalry at this point with this being act 4 after Wcor and last week. Both of them are incredibly solid players who have been quite valuable for their teams given the round they were snagged. Separation is 2-1 but CE won the last series so let's see if he can tie it up
Gen 8 Random Battle: teresbahji vs Clem > after FINALLY breaking the curse of the Gen 8 slot, Clem is back to face the enigmatic Teres Bahji. I legitimately don't know what to expect from these two because weird things happen whenever they play so let's all tune in for the chaos!
Gen 5 Random Battle: TheFranklin vs Monai > Franklin is one of if not the longest tenured Gen 5 rands main of the community, the other is a Gen 5 moderator in RoA and player in SPL. There are all the premises for a good clash, especially taking their good seasons into consideration
Gen 4 Random Battle: Texas Cloverleaf vs O1V7O2X9O > this is actually the first non remake of this series that I am highlighting, because Steven played vs blundergoth last week. Texas proved to be a very solid pick for this gen but how is he going to fare against the human wifi password?
Gen 3 Random Battle: blundergoth vs evakiyama! > blunder is having a quietly strong debut season, with the cherry on top being the win vs Steven in Gen 4 best of...7. Evakiyama got quite unlucky vs Drifttrick and anankaios and won last week so they seem to have found their groove in this format
Gen 2 Random Battle: Stallion vs Kurt Kappa > I was watching their series live and this caused my already bad sleep schedule to take a big hit. An absurdly long g1 followed by another intense game made last week's series memorable and genuinely entertaining, so let's hope for a repeat (that should hopefully take less...)
The doubles series > some stories write themselves and the duck's legendary win streak finished where it started. Destiny works in funny ways because he has a chance to face Idyll again and for the second time in a semifinal in the last three years. Srvoltmike surprised everyone by claiming the best record of the regular season in the dubs pool and he is facing a person whose career in BSSF started and died in the same day. Fortunately for Sapphire, she is much better at dubs so this will be a cool series!
Gen 9 BSS Factory: satvik123 vs IcyPenguin2 > battle of friends that are going to face each other for the first time this year. Both of them had an incredibly impressive debut last year but this season has not been on the same level. Icy will try to avenge the loss from last year, while satvik wants to return to finals to get another shot at taking the Rbtt title
