Hello all, and happy Friday. Omari P here, coming back and humbly asking you all for a rate, but mainly i want / need suggestions. Truth be told, this team is more balanced than i actually prefer, and I want to change it especially since it has some weaknesses that I am sick of. However, when it works, it's very fun to play. The team actually is an iteration of this fun squad here, however with more balance so it's not super weak, and covers my need for a steel. However, since it has been form fitted to fit a specific hole, we have 2 interesting sets which mainly include doom desire av jirachi and sash tusk. Sash tusk is kinda a meme, however it 1000% does the job it needs to do, mainly as an emergency check; i rarely lead with Great Tusk.
I am not sure that this is the best set for this team, but it sure is a good mon to use. We are weak to primarina and a few other mons because of this set, but we can come on top or power through with pyro ball. Brute forcing is a bit a of bad strategy but you do what you have to do. IF you have any ideas for here please let me know,
Mandibuzz @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overcoat
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 212 HP / 244 Def / 4 SpD / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Defog
I am actually sick of this bird on this team, but it works when it works well.. This is by far the worst mon on this setup... But im not sure what to replace it with.
Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Luster Purge
- Trick
- Ice Beam
This is a standard latios with ice beam. It can pick up a lot of nice kos if you lead. Late game, Kingambit can be an issue, especially if mandibuzz dies. That is not a problem, trick it with latios and u are usually good to go. You might be tempted to use this as a revenge killer, but i rarely am put in that situation.
Jirachi @ Assault Vest
Ability: Serene Grace
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 224 HP / 252 SpA / 32 Spe
Modest Nature
- Tera Blast
- Psychic Noise
- Icy Wind
- Doom Desire
Very bulky, and doom desire can force some favourable interactions. Icy wind is quite nice on it and tera blast ground kos the annoying heatran. You are a bit weak to tran and fire types but it can work. Just avoid taking on moltres if you can. but you will win the interaction if you burn the tera. It's important to keep tera alive if you see too many fire types
Great Tusk @ Focus Sash
Ability: Protosynthesis
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Ice Spinner
- Headlong RushYou might be tempted to see this as a lead but it's really an emergency check. I use it a lot to lead if i see potentially dangerous mons like darkrai lead. Please make sure to not burn this. Tera ground also is likely not the best tera here.
Weaknesses
There are some annoying weaknesses mainly moltres, iron moth, and heatran but overall it's solid. Deoxys speed can get out of control as well so just kill it with sucker punch. Im a bit conflicted with this team but it got to top 10 so hmmm.... maybe it's just my own bias because I am out of my comfort zone here.
Please let me know what you think. I linked v0 of the team which is where it came from. that one is more hyper offensive, so you can see why I am bit eh about this one.
Bonus: A Thundurus goobing
Team notes. Overall this squad has a crew of very nice sets, with 3 of them very niche. The main idea is that Jirachi is very bulky and and you can start ko'ing with doom desire or stopping balance / stall with psychic noise and doom desire. if you want to be fancy add uturn but i like what I have. If kingambit gets too spicy trick it with latios. It's important to note that Cinderace doesnt have to be flame plate, life orb also works, however, I genuinely do not like boots with +speed nature. The power drop from pyro ball is immensely noticeable, like you no longer pick up kos or 2hkos. The set for thundurus is legendary, it's a set inspired by Johnny Tots old thunduus-t, but with an Omari P spin on it. Vibes based / tested evs, and tera type fairy. The idea behind it being, that I genuinely hate the long neck. I'm definitely racist towards all of the dino trios, but absolutely vehemently hate that stupid ass yellow neck beast. Please make sure to note that, if it's not weather ball, that stupid yellow nitwit is now a liability on their team. and you can reverse sweep. I will provide you an example of an utter embarrassment caused by that stupid ass thunderclapper head in the clouds kitty dino. I honestly think it should not be allowed, that and ghold.
Anyway, here's how to use the team before I give you a mon by mon. You want to keep tera alive on jirachi or latios. Against stall, jirachi and tera steel latios are your friends, same with balance. Cinderace is your main attacker, and do not be afraid to kill people with high jump kick. I do want to test out a different set for it, if you have any ideas, please let me know. I was thinking maybe even tera ice, fighting type plate, life orb, or even like no pyro ball and just use gunk shot. I tried tera rock and it was just a disappointment. Honestly I get sick of mandibuzz on this squad, so if you have any alternatives or suggest a different set Im all ears. I am super close to just using tera dragon mandibuzz or tera water bc I am sick and tired of the water ogerpon. Maybe even iron defense... im not sure. Also a bannable mon.
Now onto the team.
Thundurus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 88 HP / 164 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Agility
- Focus Blast
This here is your main defense against the stupid long neck like we talked about earlier. This is something that is very strong, and if you want to mess with the evs, please be my guest. Your speed events are there so you raw outspeed great tusk and mostly outspeed the poison mon. If it werent for that, I would absolutely not waste that much speed in a agility mon. maybe try out different ones. This can reverse sweep or end the game turn 1. Ive swept many teams with it and it's become a set that people associate with me.
Cinderace @ Flame Plate
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pyro Ball
- High Jump Kick
- Sucker Punch
- Court Change
