Tournament UMCL I - Commencement

my paypal is open for business if needed everyone

The auction is done and you are probably wondering, "Which team did a good draft in ZU and which team messed up?" Well, let's find out in this ZU power rankings:

1) Oblivion Ambers (shadow, mirbro, one last kiss, twenty twan)
This is the best ZU draft out of all teams, so good that you actually wonder why Oblivion Ambers bought so many ZU players. They simply have ZU finalist champion Shadow currently 6-0 in ZUCL. If an industrial catastrophe happens, One Last Kiss is also a good clicker if they need to. Finally, Mirbro and TwentyTwan are very good support roles (even decent players tbf) who could help with tests and coming up with new innovative ideas.

2) Galarian Blades (obb, hoen, risin)
If OBB plays ZU, it would definitely be one of the hardest spots to win for the opponents. However, he might play NFE and is certainly very busy with other tours. Even if potentially less reliable, double trophy master and previous ZU tier leader Hoenconfirmed would be a certain challenge to beat for any team. Risin would be there for the support slot to help them test teams and suggest ideas. There are obviously risks of cancering, overplaying tournaments and catastrophic losing runs (I don't know if OBB is positive or negative in ZUCL) so it is less reliable than the Ambers but it is the second scariest ZU list on the list.

3) Pikachu Party (mada, beavs, trichotomy, dbd)
All of these players are strong competitors with tournament results so whoever ends up playing is expected to perform relatively well. Beavs is especially a very innovative player, so it will be hard to prep against (even if I expect him rather to play NFE but who knows). Mada and Trichotomy are excellent pilots, Trichotomy is especially doing great in ZUCL at the moment. DeadbyDelight finally is also a good Pokémon player and knowledgeable in ZU so they will normally have a great run.

4) Mechanical Marvels (terracotta, hex)
This team is a bit harder to guess because it clearly depends on who plays what. Terracotta could sail across tiers so there is that. If not burned out, he will anyway build in ZU despite having to prep for another tier and give innovative ideas each week to Hex. There is not much to say about it good pilots with a potential ZU builder is often a successful recipe. But if Terracotta is sailling and hex does not prepare well, it can end up with bad records without much replacement. It is sad that clean is locked in Monocolor tbf.

5) Utterly Sprigatitos (lettuce, praise the salt, methmaster)
Lettuce is a ZU main for years now who is a pretty decent player and especially a good builder who built very successful teams that got reused many rounds during the last circuit. He got paired with his partner in crime for UMFL Praise the Salt who not only did a solid run in that tournament but also at the same time made a very long run to final ZU Swiss, allegedly with a lot of activity wins though. Methmaster finally would be there to support and give ideas and would put up a fight if he has to sub. This line is slightly weaker than the one above since Praise the Salt hasn't touched ZU for three months to focus on OU after being forgotten in the auction of ZUCL (which is understandable tbh), while Lettuce is good but slightly less consistent than the players mentioned above. It is pretty difficult to say at this stage if this team will have a winning or losing streak, so let's see.

6) Gold Stake Gholdengos (budgetplayer)
This is the only team with a single player. What a player though. Budget is the newest ZU voice and rising star. He is currently 4-0 in ZUCL and I do not think the lack of support will bother him as he is kind of used to it. Some rumors say that he allegedly didn't get much, if any, help in ZUCL despite seven other ZU players being on this team. He is also extremely invested and serious in team tournaments, so you will be sure that he will build several teams, test all of them and only choose the best one. Of course, Budget is still a relatively "new" "good" player, so if an accident happens, the Gholdengos do not have any other choice than riding or dying with Budget.

7) Shocks and Moccs (zpice, heatranator, sificon, neomon)
Zpice is the only true ZU main and he doesn't really like playing current gen ZU. It's a relatively good player though but I don't think he will be super motivated. His teammates are decent ZU pilots but perhaps not as impressive as several players that other teams managed to buy. They can outperform if one of these players is locking up but I think other teams will do better in ZU.

8) Spectral Heist (smhorizon, ako)
This is a team of double support slots without a main pilot. SMHorizon is a very innovative player but clearly unproven in ZU tournaments. Ako is also a very innovative player who focused on building and who indeed reached the ZU seasonal final but it has also to be noted that he reached it with five activity wins. Both of these players are not bad but they will have to clearly overperform to end up positive.

This is it, have a good UMCL!

NFE PR by me

Excellent
Teams in this category will rely on NFE being one of their best Flex slot.

#1 Spectral Heist: Fragments, Horii :marshadow:
#2 Oblivion Ambers: Shadow079, Swas, Kingler, Mirbro, Nashrock :corviknight:
#3 Utterly Sprigatitos: PandaDoux, maybca, MethMaster4546, lettuce :braviary:

Nice
Teams in this category might pick NFE occasionally but would like to avoid playing it twice a week.

#4 Gold Stake Gholdengos: Celeste, Zcarlett :gholdengo:
#5 Shocks and Moccs: 5Dots, GigaBytes7, Zpice, Sificon :sandy shocks:

Weak
Teams in this category have some players that understand the tier but is still pretty weak compared to the other teams.

#6 Pikachu Party: Regiboob, Dead by Daylight, mh :pikachu:
#7 Galarian Blades: Nakoruru_XD, Lyna :ceruledge:
#8 Mechanical Marvels: Terracotta :magearna:

Yes i'm ranking my team but i think it's pretty accurate anyway, hf everyone

Saw these posts and I wanted to also give my take on the Ubers UU tier:

7th: Pikachu Party: Ea-Nasir Finchely

Players: Zastra? Mada?
Ok I think this will suprise nobody who plays the tier. Zastra is my son before any of you call me a hater. The problem starts when I can't even tell who is going to be the main guy to play this if it's picked against them. Zastra is a pretty solid player but he hasn't played this tier in more than a year at least pretty sure. He may be a bit up to date with the meta in umpl but he wasn't the one buulding teams (except that one sticky webs sun team). Mada is a pretty good clicker but let's be real he won't care in the slightest for this tour so you need building support for this slot and well... yeah. Finchely is the closest you get to building support or even builder and she hasn't played in a while, nor has she ever gotten some great results to be enough of a support. If some helper becomes LeBron James and builds every week a banger team I could see them going 3-4. I will give a confidence rating of their slots a 2/10.

6th: Shocks and Moccs: Mist Sheepie

Player: OceanicGamer
I'm prettg sure Sheepie and Mist aren't some of the most experienced managers. I think that shows with their slot for Ubers UU this tour (don't take it personnally I'm only judging uubers). Ocean is a very nice guy and he's motivated espacially after reaching finals of the Ubers UU open. He showed some growth in his plays. They also got him for super cheap when I think he could go for 7-8k. He does build as well. Problem is that he's completely alone. There is 0 support at all meaning Ocean will have to rely on non teammates for basically everything support related like building, test games etc. This is also a risky slot as even if Ocean had a pretty good umpl showing as a sub making him start is quite a scary position. Nerves might play. If he had decent support I would give him a 5/10. But with none it goes to a 3.5.

5th: Galarian Blades: Miyoko OranBerryBlissey10

Player: Mozonite
I was looking at the auction prices to make my template when I saw Mozo went for 19k and a top 5 most expensive player of the draft??? Ok that is something I did not expect. I love mozo and my guess would be that he maybe supports other slots? But yeah I expected mozo for around 8.5-12k maximum so this feels like a very bad overpay. Mozo is a pretty good player but they tends to go for cheese strats nearly all the time most notably ho. This will be exploited very quickly. Also once again the lack of any support from the team but maybe they thought mozo was self sufficient. I think mozo could go around 3-4 wins but yeah it's not someone who I see will go 5-2 minimum in reg season which is what I would expect for that price. Giving him 5/10.

4th: Spectral Heist: Horii FishyRoads

Players: Rasche, angolano06
First team where I can identify 2 players potentially playing it in a week which is a step up. Rasche had a middling uubpl going 2-3 but it was still in bo3. I like their price and same for angolano who is a bit under the radar. I think this core is also helped by the Fishy support. He may not be a top 3 Ubers UU player he's still a standard in the tier and knows the meta well while having good ideas about the tier. The building shouldn't be an issue for that. I think the play might be a bit below than the top 3 so will put them with a 6.5/10.

3rd: Mechanical Marvels: Iride LocIce

Players: Iride, Jojen?
If you know one thing about Iride is that she's a tryhard. Her uubpl was pretty good and she was a key component in her team winning umpl. She was not in bo3 but it still shows some good level. She can build as well and is autosufficient most of the time so no problem there. I imagine Jojen is the 2nd player just in case after going 4-2 in uubpl ableit in ss. Jojen is a solid clicker as well but I don't expect them to tryhard this tour. I will still give this team a 7.5.

2nd Gold Stake Gholdengos: Kaif Zcarlett

Players: Celeste, Pokemh
It is not a suprise the Ubers UU tl is placed high. Celeste has some potential. She can have some pretty good games and some pretty meh ones which to her defense happen less and less often. She knows the tier very well and builder with the ancient tl which I can't say the name or I'm banned from big smogon. On a more serious note I believe she's the best mix in terms of skill/ meta knowledge in this PR. However Celeste from what I've seen usally doesn't perform as highly as anticipated so we'll see. Pokemh is somebody who struggled in uubpl but I remember her showing in umpl when she played Ubers UU and I liked her games. She's a solid player. I will give this team a 7.5 as well as even tho the highs are highs, the lows won't be terrible but could end up middling.

1st: Oblivion Ambers: MirrorSaMa Kafkafka

Baddy, Shadow079
This isn't a suprise. Both of these players have played this tier before and in terms of pure gameplay skill they are n°1 and I don't think it's something you can argue against besides maybe Iride and Jojen. The building is a bit behind with a Shadow who needs to get back in the grind and Baddy who's known to either ho or stall no inbetween. Support isn't there from managers as well so it needs to be seen if it will drop the ball but I believe in the raw skill (if they care a tiny bit about this tour).
Apparently Baddy locked out of the tier. Point still stands for shadow if he plays it. Too lazy to redo the whole list if it's someone else.

I do think the pool in general is pretty solid. We had a ban and Taka didn't sign up which is a pain but it's still overall solid.

I wish good luck to everyone in this tour and may the best win!

Want to point out that spectral heists also got fragments, Ewin, and Horii for UUbers if needed.

Here's a quick AG PR, note that this is only my opinion and it is for fun. Please don't take them too seriously and feel free to disprove me in the tour

7) Galarian Blades (RoFnA, Lyna, RL, Mozonite)

As much as I enjoy seeing RL and Mozo's schizo builds, I cannot deny the fact they're a huge hit or miss. Especially when it's not themselves piloting it, the chances of those teams working plummets significantly. RoFnA is a good player but with getting passed slop I think it's not going to work out well for them, especially with Mozo playing Ubers UU instead.

6) Shocks and Moccs (Adhi, Sificon GigaBytes7)

This team on the other hand has good builders but playing department can be uncertain. Bytes will be stuck in 2v2 jail or some other UM, so it's likely Adhi starting. With Bytes building I'd expect Adhi to do fairly well at least, but playing against of the pool can be tough for him.

5) Gold Stake Gholdengos (Remnonc, Pokemh)

Both are great clickers but neither of them can build, so performance can vary wildly. If managers can convince Pokemh to not load Lapras stall or similar nonsense, then you can expect this team to do quite fine.

4) Spectral Heist (Bread Sandwich, 8truc)

Expect stall or HO every other week from this team. They might underperform depending on how much 8truc cares about the tour (which in all honesty might be low, but horii should probably make him put in the effort). Besides that, he's a fine clicker and has a lot of potential overall.

3) Mechanical Marvels (Kunvirgo, Jojen)

Self-sufficient and two very strong players. Not much to say, you could argue for them being 2nd instead but it's a close race.

2) Utterly Sprigatitos (ZowwyCafe, JK)

Same as above. Zowwy is top 5 in the pool and is favoured vs most, though without emoxu9 teambuilding support it might be tougher for her to farm the pool with same ease as previous tours.

1) Pikachu Party (Glory, Lord Rekkuza)

Most people wouldn't agree with me on this but Glory is by far the best player in the entire pool (GIVEN he tries). Even without putting in much effort I can't see him going anything but very positive. To finish it out they also have Lord Rekkuza support granted both of them have some conflicting meta beliefs. Regardless this would be the team that everyone should look out for in AG.

4v4 duu pr go go go

1. Spectral Heist - Code + gephicka
who let them get away with this core, code is one of the best doubles clickers widely and has a fair bit of experience in the tier whilst being on an absolute tear rn, and gephicka not only has almost unparalleled knowledge of the meta but is also a great clicker in themself.

2. Gold Stakes Gholdengos - Seawolfmikes + thacrow + christianfinity
the arguable best clicker that also has good knowledge of the tier as well as the vgc circuit champ and another top tier vgc clicker, has enough starter level players for 3 teams. genuinely insane quality here, only reason they aren't higher then spectral is im not sure how the building will hold up every week, but these players could run the same team every weak and still go positive

3. Pikachu Party - zee + Dead by Daylight
zee's reputation and incredible skill goes without saying, and dbd is imo one of the better builders in the tier. just one of if not the best clickers in doubles paired with great support, not much else to say here.

4. Mechanical Marvels - eragon + knull
neither players really know the tier, both are great clickers and def can build, just i dont know if it will be the most reliable core especially considering how stacked the pool is.

5. Utterly Sprigatitos - tyo + dubiousbulb1033
tyo is a phenomenal clicker, dubious is very good too, my main concern is lack of experience within the tier, i think if they get building down pat their core will be very very strong, if not could be inconsistent.

6. Galarian Blades - AIRedzone + Smudge
i have the utmost respect for both players and both can perform very well, just neither have much experience in the tier as far as i know and presumably both need to sort of learn the tier as they go which can be tricky, and dont click quite as well as a zee or an eragon.

7. Oblivion Ambers - SeaLife + Razachu
both players are absolutely goated, but neither are that experienced in 4v4 duu nor 4v4 that i know of, so this for me is the least reliable core of the tier. i think this has a very high ceiling but requires a lot of cooking to reach that (which both polayers are capable). i dont expect them to go amazingly but i wouldnt be surprised if they did.

overall, i tihnk the drafting for the tier was quite solid, but im sad to see some of the best mainers like sinnoy and nocturneundrafted. hope to have a fun tour and show how sick this tier is!!
