Tournament 1v1CL I - Commencement

This was my first time ever managing a team tour and my second time playing one, and it was a really great experience thanks to my teammates, so I thought I'd write a little something post tour.

I'll start with lemonstre1 Pokemh shuixin Dragonmirror sorry werent able to play a game. We ended up drafting 17 people at the end, so it was obvious from the start that not everyone was gonna be able to play, but I still appreciate all of you and all your heart reacts to my posts in announcements, and shuixin gaslighting me about something in chinese week 1.

Opchurtle100 lwk forgot we drafted you and that you werent just in the manager channel for no reason. Marsh was hating when i bid on you for a valid reason you had absolutely 0 lines relating to this tour in any way shape or form you had more lines pre tour then durig the tour, but ily man talking to you always makes me feel better ive known you since like 2020 or 2021 now i dont even remember but you have always been 1 of my best friends.

The God of 1v1 ❄ you were sadly very busy this tour which lead you to not really being locked in at all but despite that you still managed to show up most weeks and go 2-2, which i really appreciate. Hopefully school gets a bit better as time goes on i wish you the best of luck.

Palestine sadly not the greatest tour for you but you still got wins in the clutch in regular season, allowing us to go undefeated all tour. Also, you mightve saved our season week 1 by missing time which forced deg to get off the bench and start playing pokemon.

Kanha Greninja you really built an insane amount of teams during regular season our sm and ss slots both wouldve never went positive if it wasn't for you which I'm really grateful for. ALTHOUGH the teams were defenitly of dubious quality sometimes, they got there in the end. Never listen to the haters you did great getting a win in week 5 asw hopefully you're gonna have a breakout tour in pl since you only got to play 1 week this tour.

neomon it really does amaze me how little you say you care about pokemon but you always continue to signup and win. Both of my 1v1 team tours have been with you and they have both been great. Luckily we were able to stop you from loading slaking in finals. Maybe I can even play pl with you again if you decide to sign up (non zero chance) gl with your darts career.

ollierob ily man you were genuinely the only reason i didnt lose my mind in the sv channel, and the only reason teams actually got built. I knew I had to draft you after i convinced you to sign up for lt last year and you farmed ladder, and you were like top 10 on the ou ladder asw . Great win in finals, great win in pools. Sorry for ruining your record by subbing you in last sec week 1 in bumass uu 1v1 hopefully you will play more 1v1 tours after this youre a great guy.

ElectraineHeart really amazing tour first ever time really playing 1v1 and you killed it. You went 3-2 but it shouldve realistically been 4-1, but i sadly completely sabotaged you week 1 you said your mental and irl was fucked up in finals but despite that you still played great, sadly losing to a crit. I know you said you had smth to prove and that you had to win in finals but i think you proved yourself this tour that you're a great player. Sorry for sending so many 50 line rants about oras 1v1 during our test games instead of just clicking a move. I hope your irl will improve and that I'll see you in more teamtours after this.

YouanMingxue even tho we got language barriered sometimes you were very funny and a great person to talk to. I really appreciated all the love and positivity you spread in our teamcord and ofcourse your 5-1 record as well. I saw you went 3-0 in wc on china and knew i had to draft you but figuring out if you even had a discord took like 20 minutes or something but we eventually got there. Youre now 8-1 on the 1v1 sheet man youre the goat. I appreciate all the test games asw as all the positive messages they really motivated me to keep building even tho i really didnt feel like it. I hope ill see you in pl youre gonna kill it there asw.

gorilaa honestly you dont talk a whole lot but i appreciate all the qcs you were able to do in the ss and sm channel during the season, as well as winning the amount of games you did. We really did get you for dirt cheap in the auction which was insane it was like 22k or smth genuinly worth every cent. You have now completed the gauntlet of winning pl, wc and cl as 1 of the best players on all your teams. hopefully ill be able to team with you even more after this since whenever you play you seem to win tours.

Blanched insane record bro you shoulda went 6-0 tbh but marsh ruined your undefeated record by making you play first and our 0-1 curse was to strong. Despite losing you really did lock in with supporting every slot during finals, honestly you mighve saved the season during the break week cause everyone was tired and nothing was really happening but then you everyone pinged during the week and got everyone back to work again. Really loved building natdex with you i dont know how much of a help i was but i hope i was able to help you a good amount. Hopefully we will see natdex in pl.

DEG genuinely can't describe how much you helped during this tour. I know you said you were just gonna backseat, but if you call this backseating, then I wanna see what prime manager DEG did. You really brought this team together helping me and marsh in areas where we lacked, since im a first time manager and marsh is a complete bum. appreciate all the oras qcs you did but what i do not appeciate is that you made me rebuild like all my oras teams i ended up building like 7 teams a week or smth cause you said they were all bad. Still you had a great tour 5-1 record with 1 completely meaningless loss as we had already won the week 8-1 at that point but atleast you made me not feel lonely as the only person to lose that week. I hope you were able to have fun on this tour despite everything that's happening around you irl. Stay safe, pls. I still need you to carry me to a pl chip.

Thanks for carrying marsh since after you started building in week 3 he went 4-0 (we dont talk about what happened w1 and w2), although fuck you for almost throwing our tour and getting marsh addicted to cobblemons man whyd you have to do that. I also appreciate all your contributions in the sv channel, those contributions include telling me to load tatsugiri goodra hands and thats kinda it. Jabiru you were on the touncannons last year and decided to help us out this year again. At first I thought you would have to qc my teams but it turned into me having to make sure you weren't passing youan some terrible apicot berry zapdos team again. But i do genuinely appreciate your help in both the manager and dpp channels you deserved this chip as much as anyone else on the team.

Marshmelto last is marsh and we have been friends for a really long time already on showdown you wanted to manage this tour but didnt know with who so then we just decided to do it together, and it ended up being a great decision we drafted a extremely strong team (mostly me tbh). Im really happy to have done this with you, although youre genuinly a lazy bum man, you really had tom and blanched building all your adv teams while you were 5 stacking league or playing cobblemons you cant be real. However you did do your job and won your games so thats that ig. Let's manage next cl together again

also thanks to the people who i pmd pre tour for managing/drafting advice those people are kaif, radu, crucify and REDACTED it really helped alot thanks for answering all my questions even if they were stupid questions i couldve never managed to draft such a great team and been able to manage it without all of your advice thanks alot for that.

last is myself i think i didnt play well all of the weeks except in finals im happy with the way i was able to support the rest of my team tho and unshoutout everyone who said my pokemon teams are bad.

no worries for me, i was in exam period and after i starting a new job so it was good for me to just be present as sub if needed <3
 
5x rings awh yeah. participating as player in both wc and cl has been a fun experience. i think i've told a lot of close friends that i was kinda done after being disrespected in this tier for no reason, while i still believe that i have no more contributions in me after that circus show, i felt that i still had an itch as a player.

thank you to team asia specially kaif/litt for stepping in my shoes as managers and allowing me to play only. i think being a manager is really past me now, i no longer have time nor motivation to supporting seriously most/all slots so taking more of a backseat and chill role did wonder to my enjoyment.

thank you frogfacts and marshmelto for drafting me even though i put a lot of question marks on my motivation and availability, however i'm sure that i was allowed to push forward in cl only cause i was not forced to support anyone, frogfact did an amazing job supporting me, and others, this is a high standard managerial performance that i respect and applaud. i hope you also learnt a bit from me in this section :) and maybe i should learn from you to not prep only 2 hours before each series i have to prep :p

performance wise wc and cl, im happy with what i have done. ofc mistakes happen sometimes, and you'll do the same mistake twice and thrice, preview, sequencing etc.. but you'll learn, the more you play the more you'll learn as long you're motivated. im glad that i could actually contribute positively in weeks/series that matter in both wc and cl.

regarding pl, there's still time, who knows, but if ill join it'll probably be as player unless 2 specific people ask me to co-manage

Coming into this tournament as a rookie was a big challenge, as a former BW OU main I couldn’t wait to play in BW 1v1. We gave our very best, but sadly we didn’t get the result we wanted but I am proud of our team as we gave everything we could. This doesn’t take away from what this team and this tournament gave me. I am happy with my performances and development, and it’s mostly merit of our amazing team. Firstly, I want to thank my managers DripLegend and Fancy1 for believing in me right from the start and taking a chance on me. This is what I need to give my best, I hope I was able to repay at least half of the trust I was given. I wanna thank my teammates, now friends, for always standing together. Making friends is what this is really about, isn’t it? I also wanna thank Mentality for his always valuable input and especially crucify, your knowledge and abilities are incredible, and I couldn’t have gotten so far without your advice.
Giddeyghouls, I’m sure we will use this fire to come back better and I hope to team up with y’all again soon!
