Metagame SV National Dex Monotype Metagame Discussion

Here's a hot take- it's okay to have mons in the meta that carve teams up if you let them set up. Quit coming for Kommo-o.

-Imo, the logical equivalent of that would be like saying flying loses to scarf Gren if SpDef Corvi gets KOd. Yes, and that's okay.
We all know there's plenty of counters to Kommo-o even after it gets an omni boost.

Quit being babies
(Love you, Irys)
I think what Irys was getting at here wasn't to attack kommo-o or anything. Or to say its utterly broken. It was basically to reiterate some of the concerns the community might have for kommo-o.

Personally I do not think it's broken but I can see why people have concerns with the mon. The question isn't about how to check an offensive threat (cause all the ones in the meta have some checks), but it's about reasonable or palatable it is to do so across all types. And yes even with all this I still think kommo-o is manageable. A great mon for sure but I think with proper play can be manoeuvred around.

That being all said, I think the discourse on dragon comes to this. The issue might not be with any particular mon on the type just winning games outright. It's more so, the type overall, as a whole, not only having really inflated numbers (pseudo legend stats will do that for you). But also that they meld well together. Really well. To cover a lot of matchups. Basically good numbers, good synergy. It wins a lot because its simply the better type. Not really because it cheeses or robs games.

I'd like to talk about the tiering situation with mega beedrill, I feel like the fact that it is completely unranked in this tier is an overstatement, it can be rather niche for certain types, like bug, but for poison it is a very good offensive pivot and progress maker for more bulky poison teams that can hold a place over a banded sneasler or specs iron moth, and when looking at the poison vr, I see a lot of mons that belong on poison a lot less then mega beedrill does, such as scoilipede, as offensive poison is currently worse then semi-stall poison, so i'd like to nominate it for a spot among more nice options on poison, like drapion, salazzle, amoongus and scoilipede, so low c to high d, I am okay with mega beedrill staying where it stands on the bug vr, as bug is more offensive and doesn't fit the playstye of mega beedrill.

Main problem with mega bee vs choiced sneasler and moth is that bee's secondary typing is the opposite of useful and denies the type mega venusaur. Sneasler and moth help poison break down steel with their useful secondary typings, whereas bee is just steel bird fodder. Scolipede, while sort of fodder, can also goomba stomp psychic in a way beedrill cant -- a useful niche.
