please dont talk about my trenches GXE btw just ignore that rq

So as a challange I decided to ask a bunch of people to send unserious natdex teams for me to ladder with, and one of those teams was from this person:
1773946788488.png

The team included: :thievul: :rillaboom: :diancie-mega: :hawlucha: :kartana: :iron-treads: and the team was decent (just ignore :thievul:) however it had clear issues primarily in terms of the fire resist department as well as overall breaking power with only :thievul: on the special side this made it unable to break past the bulky dark types in the tier such as :ting-
lu: :tyranitar-mega: and bulky :samurott-hisui: , however i really liked the physical core of :kartana: + :hawlucha: with them being able to get past the birds :zapdos: :moltres: and :corviknight:

With this information, I swapped out :iron-treads: since it's only purpose was to set up rocks and being a ground type to block volt switch which doesn't even work out very well since it immediately dies after rocks. I replaced treads with :iron-moth: (the ultimate goat/fraud) to help out on the special side as well as a tspike absorber and a fairy resist and thus the final version of the team was born.
This team has only 1 OU mon suprisingly with :diancie-mega: , :kartana: :hawlucha: :iron-moth: being UUBL , :rillaboom: being UU and :thievul: being RU (even tho if lower natdex tiers were a thing bro would be like untiered lmfao)

(Lets also please ignore the GXE, i went through quite a few bad teams before this)

Team Breakdown:

:SV/Thievul:
D'Thievuls (Thievul) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 24 HP / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Burning Jealousy
- Psychic
- Nasty Plot

The main star of the show, :thievul: once a shit mon is still a shit mon! However instead of running a specs stakeout set which doesn't even break anything, the set being used is a grassy seed unburden set. Modest max investment in special attack to do as much damage as possible with the speed evs to outspeed booster :iron-valiant: as well as also outspeeding scarfers like :gholdengo: :landorus-therian: as well as some +1 mons like :garchomp: . Rest into HP which sabotages the extra gterrain recovery as it isn't divisible by 16 but i find in practice the extra spatt mattering more than the extra recovery. Burning Jealousy is a rare move that I see few people use which is why it is quite unexpected but it is helpful for doing massive damage to steels :corviknight: :ferrothorn: :iron-treads: :melmetal: :kingambit: :scizor-mega: and :mawile-mega: as well as doing massive damage to bulky mons like :celesteela: . It also has the nice bonus of burning the target after a stat boost which can be nichely used for quick mons like unburden :hawlucha: that dont expect it. Psychic helps OHKO :iron-valiant: without boosts as well as OHKO'ing :urshifu-rapid-strike: and having a chance to OHKO threats like :zamazenta: and :venusaur-mega: that are big threats. One of the best things about :thievul: is the surprise factor with many people not expecting the coverage it has with them not bothering to look it up.

The gameplan usually is to save :thievul: for a late game sweep after walls like :ting-lu: :tyranitar-mega: by chipping them with :iron-moth: and when mons like :heatran: get worn down you can go for a :thievul: sweep. It can also set up on mons like choice locked :gholdengo: which you can lure in with :diancie-mega: and sack is to MIR then set up with :thievul: and :kingambit: as it has the +1 defense boost making iron head doing less. You can also set up on the birds :zapdos: :moltres: and :corviknight: however be wary of thunder-wave or crit body press as well as setting up on :ferrothorn: and :gliscor: without toxic and if needed :latios-mega: as you threaten it out with dark pulse.

Overall while :thievul: might not be the greatest mon in existence at least they get a few good sweeps here and there which honestly is better than my first expectations.

Calcs:
248+ SpA Thievul Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Iron Valiant: 276-326 (95.5 - 112.8%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

:SV/Rillaboom:
Reasonable Drums (Rillaboom) @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 204 HP / 252 Atk / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Knock Off
- Low Kick
- U-turn

The team needed a terrain setter and since it's grassy terrain theres only one option (:tapu-bulu: doesnt exist) :rillaboom: is just a standard bulky set with low kick to ohko :kingambit: as well as do massive damage to :ferrothorn: and :melmetal: and solid against :zamazenta: . Speed is to outspeed jolly :kingambit: with its grassy terrain helping out heal :thievul: :diancie-mega: :iron-moth: and :kartana: with the terrain boost allowing :kartana: to do massive damage with leaf blade. This is the teams main check to :ogerpon-wellspring: and a temporary switch in to pivot out from :raging-bolt: and against terrain wars from :tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: and :tapu-fini: . Not much else to say other than its an essential part of the team.

:SV/Diancie-Mega:
DevilWearsDiancite (Diancie-Mega) @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 28 Atk / 228 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Diamond Storm

Nothing much as changed from the original team to this one, I replaced mystical fire for stealth rock as it needed a rocker after replacing :iron-treads: and mystical fire not even helping much anyways. Also helps prevent hazards going up as well as chipping the steels that help :thievul: and :kartana: This is my main switch in to flying types :zapdos: :moltres: :tornadus-therian: :charizard-mega-y: :gliscor: and dealing massive damage to darks. Diamond storm threatens AV :alomomola: and :slowking-galar: that can be a nuisence to :thievul:

:SV/Hawlucha:
NineMilliLucha (Hawlucha) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Encore
- Swords Dance

Standard :hawlucha: set on grassy terrain. The Speed EV's allow :hawlucha: to outspeed sand rush :excadrill: as well as chlorophyll :venusaur: and booster :iron-valiant: . With encore you can lock mons into recovery/status moves such as :zapdos: :moltres: :clefable: :corviknight: :great-tusk: :iron-treads: :ferrothorn: :clodsire: :ting-lu: as well as set up from :kingambit: :latios-mega: and :raging-bolt: This is also a switch in to :great-tusk: :iron-treads: :samurott-hisui: :kingambit: :landorus-therian: :zamazenta: and :tyranitar-mega: in a pinch to set up.

Usually I use :hawlucha: as an endgame sweeper after :kartana: has broken down the bulky physical walls such bold :zapdos: (not really the bulkiest of mons) and :dondozo: :gliscor:

:SV/Kartana:
PossessedByPaper (Kartana) @ Normalium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Giga Impact
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance

The classic Paper Cut set, standard evs with +2 Giga Impact ohking the birds :zapdos: and :moltres: with a predict to ohko :tornadus-therian: as well as annoying mons like :venusaur-mega: :dragonite: and tank :garchomp: . Sacred Sword to deal massive damage to :corviknight: :celesteela: :skarmory: :ferrothorn: as well as ohko :kingambit: . This mon helps open up my :hawlucha: late game after the physically defensive mons have either been ko'd or heavily chipped.

This is my switch in to mons like :ferrothorn: as well as it can set up on mons like :alomomola: :corviknight: :clodsire: :gliscor: :great-tusk: :iron-treads: :landorus-therian: :ting-lu: as well as choice locked :urshifu-rapid-strike: and non-superpower :ogerpon-wellspring: to set up SD's as well as threatening :dondozo:

iron moth moving.gif

PoisonedSoul (Iron Moth) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 124 Def / 132 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Energy Ball
- Substitute

The mon that shocked me the most on this team was :iron-moth: , at first I thought this mon was hot garbage but it actually put in a lot of work. Standard set with booster speed which is one of my methods of speed control without the use of unburden :thievul: and :hawlucha: . This acts as my tspike absorber which is nice for :toxapex: as well as rare :glimmora: and tspike :slowking-galar: and :weezing-galar: . With grassy terrain boosted energy balls deal massive damage to :alomomola: :ting-lu: :samurott-hisui: as well as chip down :clodsire: and :toxapex: which can enable :hawlucha: and most importantly :thievul: which hates bulky dark types. Sub is nice for the thunder-wave immunity and can help better position against u-turn, mons like :kingambit: :raging-bolt: and :samurott-hisui: and protect mons like :gliscor: :melmetal: and :toxapex: With multiple firey dance boosts this mon can go super out of hand and even if it doesnt sweep it gives an opportunity for :thievul:. With :iron-moth: i can offensively pressure steel types with fiery dance that can snowball out of control.

This team gave me some huge respect for :iron-moth: , while it is an MU fish and if you see a mon like :heatran: it will obviously do nothing it was an invaluable piece of my team & put in quite some work.

:heatran: - offensive heatran can be tricky with it being able to hard wall :iron-moth: , against this you have to try not to give it a free entry opportunity by going into your physical sweepers such as :hawlucha: and :kartana: or you can try and get the read with :diancie-mega: between earth power and moonblast. An option if desperate is to go into :thievul: early and try and chip down :heatran: with +2 dark pulse and then go for an :iron-moth: sweep.

:tapu-koko:/:tapu-lele: - just try and position your sweepers as best as possible against these two, more often than not you have to trade damage for one of your mons getting KO'd/getting reads right as :kartana: gets nuked by and special attack and :iron-moth: gets OHKO'd by :tapu-lele: psychic attacks

:volcarona: - dont give :volcarona: any free set up on :rillaboom: always u-turn out as +1 Z volc can pretty much instantly roll over this team, otherwise volc doesnt have great set up opportunities against the rest of the team with boosted attacks

:raging-bolt: - just outplay tclap honestly even with no ground immune I havent had that many issues

stall :blissey: :dondozo: :gliscor: -MU is super hard but I've had one or two wins against stall before, lead :diancie-mega: set up rocks and you can offensively threaten most of the defensive mons, you can also go :iron-moth: and chip down :blissey: a lot with boosted fiery dances if lucky. :Kartana: is also a good asset with it being able to completely snowball as +2 Breakneck Blitz will ohko anything baring :dondozo: which dies to boosted leaf blades and :hawlucha: can encore mons into recovery or status to chip them down for the other sweepers.

Whilst the team is quite strong, there are some changes that could be made, mainly with :kartana: which even though is super nice, it can often struggle against some teams.

:kartana: -> :gholdengo:

:SV/Gholdengo:

Lil Gold Vert (Gholdengo) @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 84 SpD / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Recover
This would give the team a more sturdy fairy resist allowing the team to have a sturdy check against faries like :diancie-mega: :tapu-lele: as well as :kyurem: , ghostium Z to help chip down special walls and it can act as extra special breaking power to further assist :thievul: . Standard Smogon set fits this role.

credits to 1yr for suggestion

:kartana: -> :ogerpon-wellspring:

:SV/Ogerpon-Wellspring:

Nicki Mirage (Ogerpon-Wellspring) (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip
- Superpower/Taunt

The bane of SV OU Balance can find a spot of this team instead of :kartana: with its extra speed helping it with mons like :keldeo: and a better secondary stab in water it can help provide as a nice primary wall breaker for setting up :hawlucha: . Grassy Glide could also be used as secondary priority to help against :ogerpon-wellspring: and speedier mons with the possibility of either taunt or superpower to help against :ferrothorn:

Here are some replays (I've forgot to save most of mine but i've got a selection of a few) that portay :thievul: immense overbearing power to its full effect (as well as the other mons ofc)

:iron-moth: 6-0
:thievul: cleans late game with no set up
:thievul: ohkoing :enamorus: after +2 & rocks :
:thievul: taking 5 lives after AV :hoopa-unbound: goes down
:hawlucha: putting in work:
another :hawlucha: game
:thievul: 6-0 after :mega-tyranitar: gets chipped
:thievul: taking 5 lives again
:thievul: vs fat
:thievul: steal
Z Kartana 6-0
another :thievul: game (getting a bit repetitive now)

Here are just some funny comments when i was laddering (sry if ur included):
