After the semies beatdown I never felt so destroyed after a loss. I was hoping to give a good shot in finals and turns out the team carried me here. 7-2 secured.
Been so long since the last RBTT win it almost feels unreal. Here are the s/os from me:
JustOut459 and Ghostilex - I kind of re-joined the RB, and PS as a whole, scene on a whim when I heard you two were managing. I saw what you guys were capable of when we were in Kangas together, so I knew that being drafted by you two would definitely lead to something great. Extremely thankful that you guys took my stray DM before the tour to do Roulette seriously; and if any manager pair was gonna not slot me in 9/4 I knew it would be you two. Well, we did it and I'm sure a million years went into draft planning, but it definitely paid off! If only everyone could see how much you two worked in the background to make sure we were all playing on time, that our subs were there, and the thought put into the lineups (way too much flexibility with our roster lmao), then they'd know why the managing was a big part of why we won.
On another note, great record Justin. WCOR next? and this time with both of you playing. :)
JJ09LIE - You really saved our asses with that tiebreak win, glad you got the runback on blade and did it in the sickest way possible (1 week apart from each other). I've always kinda known you were a Gen 9 goat, and what a well deserved back to back RBTT for you. I bet if you were here from W1 on, we'd be lossless.
Star Wheel - Feels like it was only yesterday when Just, Ghosti, and I forced you to learn Gen 8. I'm glad we got to have you back on Gen 9 for this tournament so you could show you could win in both those gens. An absolutely flex player which really helped the lineup if ever we needed to move people around (which we did a lot). Now its time to win in 7.
Shadow079 - I wasn't really here last year for WCOR, so I wasn't familiar with you game, but you made me familiar with it this RBTT. Strong wins overall and I remembered really being wowed with some plays you made in the regular season. I hope when people discuss OCN and how strong its players are, you are one of the first people that comes to mind!
Michielleus - LFG you played way more different gens than I thought you would this tour. Definitely clutched us too with the Gen 2 in Semis to bring us into tiebreaks. That game was insane. I also loved being able to do analysis of games with you there in chat. What else can I say about someone who is in GOAT conversation for rands?
Zap - I knew we had a free win every week with your slot the moment I asked for some Gen 8 practice. Truly goat plays and thank you for your finals sacrifice. People don't realise how hard it is to keep your hands off the dynamax button, but the level of awareness you have to consider it in your plays in the same way people think about doubling is a testament to your familiarity with the format.
Slikkles - How does it feel being the person to officially win the tournament? It's so interesting watching your games (and playtesting with you) and figuring out exactly what you bring. The decisions you make on preview sometimes surprise me every now and then, but always end up being optimal. Always well deserved wins and looking forward to seeing you as the future BSSF winner.
RoFnA - You really rounded out the Gen 9 core, and I have no idea how we got you so late in the draft. I know you couldn't be in in every week, but every week you were in, I bet we had the opposing teams gen 9 slots quaking in their boots. Always solid games whenever I caught them! But also, we all knew you were good, the record just seals it.
Gom - Oh man, I used to be slot into 4/5, and you really drew the short end of the stick, but all things considered you still played great for the winnable mus. Like when you were winning you were really cooking with fire. I hope you do branch out into a better gen cause it's a bit of a waste of your skill.
mdill97 - Apologies for taking your chance to beat MDB again, I'm sure that would've been a crowd favourite. Also thanks for being chill in chat and sacrificing yourself to the worst format in all of randbats outside of Gen 5. Now gotta show up in circuit. B)
oaklies - lowkey think you got robbed by last respects a bunch of times. I really don't get hackmons, but you make it make sense. I don't think your records do it justice and this was just bad teamgen this time around. I remember that one play you did with saving tera dark to not die to a last respects that wasn't even revealed and I was shocked how much depth there was to this crazy format. Do not take hackmons out of rbtt.
dinispereira, marcofiero, and tkhanh - I don't mean to clump all of you guys but holy fucking hell. Your combined record is insane, and I love how active all of you were in helping each other. It's no wonder the whole world got mad at us when we suggested double doubles for TB LOL. But seriously, the work ethic and also the fact you guys were topping the doubles ladder throughout. Future people who pick you up should know that you're not all just talented but also hardworkers. I'd give you all your individual flowers, but I think it's fitting that the dubs core worked together so well.
P.S. if any of you decide to migrate to OCN, hit us up.
Chains of Markov - You really stepped up when we needed it the most. Gen 4 is trash, but your win really saved our asses. In general though, I'm glad you were on the team for both presence and the fact that I knew if anyone needed a sub, we could always slot you in and we'd all rest easy. You were easily the perfect flex slot.
Kingslayer Caterpie - Super impressive wins. I love watching your gen 1 games, because there is always so much thought in this meta where you have to really consider hax. You were definitely one of the biggest, why was this person available this late into the draft moments and it shows. Would love to see how you do in WCOR and also the upcoming open!
anankaios - You're tuff man. You won some legitimately unwinnable matchups. I bet the UK is foaming at its mouth ready to give you that starter slot you deserve. I think you really proved a lot of the doubters wrong, and eventually became crowd favoured as time went on. You definitely deserve it.
Zcarlett - Definitely a bit of a tough break you caught with all the terrible G2 teamgens. Thanks for warming up Michi whenever you could towards the end. We definitely needed that final push to get us there and you helped make it happen! Hope you have better luck with gen 2 games in the opens and in the future!
ninjadog - A bit of a rough season, but you're still a great G5 player and G5 sucks, hope we have you back for WCOR!
Well played to all the other teams in the very obviously closest RBTT so far. That's just how good the community has gotten, so props to everyone involved. And GGs to the storms.
RBTT was the tour with RUPL that I waited the most this year. After a good showing in Bsscl in bssf I knew I would prob get drafted for it. I did saw that it would be gone next year so I wanted to try diff stuff like gens 5, 6 and 8.
I wasn't there for the draft but I learned that I was gone r6 which was earlier than I expected. I also heard that some people were saying that was an 'overpay'. I wanted to go 5-2 in the best case scenario to improve on my last years score.
I was in a pretty weird spot at the start of RBTT mentally. However I was winning, I did rob Emboar pretty hard and was somehow 6-0 with when I reviewed the games some mistakes that I regret but ig that's the thing with low timer.
Near the middle end of the tour my health declined pretty hard. I was super anxious for semies and that showed. I never felt so destroyed in a set. When it ended I doubted myself hard especially after already losing to temp. After a week break and winning a few tours confidence was back in a shy way. I was still nervous for finals espacially as atp my health is getting out of hand so wasn't even sure I could play finals before today. The win was a sigh of relief and I'm happy to put the final piece on our win. I'm someone pretty anxious in general so I had some big moments of self reflextion and doubt this tour.
Last year I made an AMA for fun after going 3-0. I then got turbo outskilled and finished 4-3. Friends told me if I won RBTT I need to make an AMA. So here you go for the fans: https://www.reddit.com/r/stunfisk/s/8uZtvZW4C0
I want to thank first and foremost JustOut459 and Ghostilex for drafting me. Seeing my friends trust me to go so early and tryhard was heartwarming and you're both great managers. Both super active, motivated and the team atmosphere was great. You did great as a manager ghost and being a superb motivational slot keeping the moral up even when we were down. Justin you ended up 6-2 and farmed people af. As motivated as ghost and def one of our carries. Both of you thank you for making this RBTT so special.
JJ09LIE - I knew your rands and OU feats so I knew we were in good hands. You played fast and you were cooking. Thanks for carrying us.
Star Wheel - I've known you for more than a year now. We missed out on you in RBEL 2 and we lived to regret it. 5-4 for a first RBTT is very solid and you did not fumble to pressure. Super active in the chat as well, hope we team up again!
RoFnA - Besides the excadrill twerk emote, you were a great presence. Started 1-2 to finish 4-2. Respect boss.
Zap - I loved your vibe man. You were funny af and super motivated. Glad to see more of you in the next RBTT or WCOR!
Shadow079 - I believe this is the 2nd time I team up with you. You went fucking 6-3 and you were supposed to be a sub. Holy carry and I hope you'll enjoy the well deserved custom title. Also biggest yapper in vc.
Gom - We've been friend for more than 2 years now. This wasn't your tour on a personnal record but I've seen what you do in the tours of tournament and you were still super active. Tysm!
Chains of Markov - Benelux energy was strong. You played semies, won and then didn't even have to play finals. Respect to you boss.
anankaios - I knew you had potential when I saw you in the early rands circuit in 2025. You went crazy in the first opens and I knew you were someone to watch. You finished 6-4 which is crazy for a first RBTT. Grats to you my friend <3.
Michielleus - My man. I was ofc a bit sad that you, me and Jordy weren't taken in RBTT as manager. However we teamed up for the revenge from last years Keldeos. You cooked and basically was playing roulette. Ty for helping us my friend.
Kingslayer Caterpie - The brazilian with the best Caterpie gifs. Finishing positive in your first RBTT in such a stacked pool was a respect moment. Props to you boss while being super nice.
marcofiero and dinispereira - You guys are the dubs goat, you were a huge part in this team's success. From Marco with at worst a 6-4 record and dinis with 7-1???? Holy goat and deserved MVP of the team. Great job and both very nice. Thanks a lot.
oaklies - Not your season but you won a super important game in semies, also fuck Last Respect and Hackmons. You are still a kin person and very 'vibsy' (not sure if that's a word).
Trade - Haters thought you didn't have it after RBTT 8. You said fuck the haters this tour and destroyed everyone. Livid used his programmer powers to put gen 2 but besides that you cooked. You're super nice as well so glad to hae met you!
mdill97 - I heard you won RBTT? South's goat. Ty my great friend for now 1.5 years. Hope to continue like that.
tkhanh - Holy scouter. You did a great job and was basically a data analyst in your sparetime. Glad you got taken in this tour and even destroyed that bum paysa. Respect.
Zcarlett - Rough tour for you but I appreciate the help to michi even as a sub. Good chat presence as well, ty!
ninjadog - Gen 5 is rough and you didn't say anything in a while but ty for still being here for the Aussie power buff.
Edit: apparently the suprise isn't obvious enough it's a joke
In all seriousness, ggs heatrans! I def had my doubts at the beginning of the season, but ecah of you put up excellent individual performances and showed why your team deserved to win the whole tour. Looking forward to the beginning of a dynasty (?) for this franchise next year! Special congrats and flowers for JustOut459 and Ghostilex for drafting a phenomenal team and a great run.
I'll probably do a follow-up post with more of my thoughts, but special thanks to my managers RagesunsetsSapphire for drafting me and sticking with me for this tour. Definitely a performance that I would like to forget, but being given the opportunity to finally play roulette in RBTT was truly a blessing and I wouldn't trade it for anything. (Now that RBTT is over though, we're coming for you guys in the runback this WCOR).
A big thank you goes out to the hosts A Cake Wearing A Hat and sharpclaw for putting on a great event. You guys show up every year to host one of the largest tours on the site, an undertaking that I'm sure isn't easy but definitely looks that way from an outsider perspective due to all your hard work. Thanks for a great tour everyone, hope to see you all next year!
I'm proud to say that I now hold the dubious title of the first person to ever lose in Grand Finals of:
* a Randbats Open
* Randbats Circuit Playoffs
* World Cup of Randbats
* RBTT
The good news is that making so many grand finals is a success in it's own right. The bad news however, is that I may be cursed. Either way, GGs to the Factions and if I couldn't win the best consolation is a win for my countrymen #OCNRISEUP
cringe shoutout post inbound, but first congrats to all other teams + managers for making this tour so hotly contested and esp the storms.
Going into this tour our intention was to draft good players and good people, and I'd like to think we did just that. I so enjoyed working with this group of people, was genuinely stoked with our team from the outset and staunchly believed we were the best team the whole tournament, even when we were dead last after week 3 (massive credit to everyone for keeping on believing). I fucking love this team.
Michielleus Fresh off a 2nd Slam victory and maintaining that momentum, carried in whichever slot we needed week in and week out and clutched up the last game of semis to send us to a tiebreak. Clear as day the Rands Goat man, and not a shred of the ego one could have with your results. Not really much else to say, pleasure having you.
marcofiero Was pleasantly surprised at how involved you were during the tour, and god damn I didn’t know we had an actual VCG goat in the mix til half way through! Such a humble fella and an absolute beast at the game u r a fucking legend man, I’ve gained a new appreciation for Randdubs after seeing how you and the rest of our core play and talk about the format. Best of luck in VCG this year, will be cheering for you to go all the way.
JJ09LIE Sorry my private scheduling bro I’m sure you’ve had enough of me pinging you but I promise this is the last one lmao. Seeing you available R3 was such a jumpscare and a pleasant surprise, we didn’t even consider that you might fall that far so it was such a no brainer to grab you. Stoked to see you go back to back and go crazy in that semis tiebreaker, your play style is fascinating and hype as hell to experience and get behind. Nonchalant king.
Star Wheel From RBEL to RBTT bro what a journey it has been. After rough start you bounced back and found your feet and got into a great rhythm as I knew you would. Seeing you get yourself out of mental funks is inspiring and speaks volumes of your character and commitment to the team and the tour, heres to many more rings my g. He ALWAYS ends positive.
Slikkles Many were saying overpay. All of them were wrong. Dominant run from you being one of our many carries, I’m glad I dissuaded you from cursing yourself with another AMA early on ahaha. This one is so incredibly well deserved, you’ve overcome a lot during this tour man elated that you could be the one to clinch the tour for us. I am looking forward to the finals video with an aptly click baity title, go farm some well earned engagement.
Zap After our games and interactions in world cup I didn't really want anyone else for our gen 8 slot, love the instinctual way you play. Ur funny as fuck and don’t take any shit, making topping the pool look easy. My favourite moment of the reg season was you driving home during a blizzard, pulling up to a food court and smoking your opponent on mobile man that shit was so tuff. I trust I’ll see you around again.
Zcarlett Really appreciate you being willing to stay in and endure gen 2 when the format was being unkind to you. Mad respect for you to keep showing up despite your frustrations, wish it could have gone differently for you but it is what it is. Kept contributing though, playing gen 2 scrims with Mich, goated.
anankaios Way to stamp your authority on the gen 3 pool my god man. Clearly one of players at the very summit of the pool with a sheist resume including a gnarly tiebreaker win. Your depth and detail of prep and scouting is just insane which I believe went a long way to contribute to your success. Just a berserk way to break onto the scene including clutching a tiebreaker win. You see the game so clearly and maintain such a cool and level head, watching u play is so entertaining and I always feel secure in the fact you're going to click the correct buttons. Low cortisol spectating
Trade This managerial arc started when you invited me to shadow manage with yourself and JustOut for RBEL 2, after which I thought I would never see you again. 12 months later we are here having won our second tour together, very funny how things work out. Many are saying RBTT 8 was just W price fixing for this year, getting you as late as we did was such an enormous boon for our draft, having you top the stacked roulette pool during the regular season was far from a shock to me.
Gom 2nd RBTT together couldn’t have been more different, your humility, positivity and flexibility is always terrific, its just a shame we had to put you in some of the worst formats in the tour but thank you for taking it on the chin and putting in 110% every week. You are perpetually underrated and such a valuable player and presence, big fan of you and your work.
RoFnA Another insane slider which somehow made it down to double digit draft rounds, which allowed us to both add a strong player and weaken the gen 8 pool. Another b2b champion, congrats to you my man. Super consistent and one of the biggest likewhores I have met, from what I see you seem to have a ton of fun with the game which translates to your play. Thank you for staying ready and clutching up after we benched you in the process of finding our optimal lineup, we got there in the end and of course you are a star.
ninjadog Just not your tour man, I apologise for your rough run. Nevertheless appreciate you pulling up and hope to have you back for WCOR.
oaklies Super fun wholesome personality, frothed your energy this season oak. HC is HC, you never really know how the chips will fall and it will always be clowned by some, but we know better than that. Unfortunately the patented oaklies luck I have heard so much about seems to have deserted you this season :(. Grateful you maintained optimism the entire time though, W human to have around.
dinispereira Dude holy shit was this guy the steal of the draft or what??? Credit to JustOut for getting the intel on this man. So enjoyed our chill spectating vcs and chatting mons and life. I believe you’ll be a mainstay in WCOR and RBTT in years to come, it blows my mind how diligent you dubs folks are with your prep, ’tis inspiring stuff. Also robbed of sole MVP cause we couldn’t put u in tb.
Kingslayer Caterpie Chill Brazilian Gen 1ers are my new favourite Pokemon player archetype. Your relationship to the game is so admirable, a plethora of people lose some of the joy of the game over time but you know how to just have fun with it and play without restraint, its a beautiful thing to see. Ur jovial attitude, jokes and positivity was certainly impactful on the team and I sound like a broken record but r16 for you was a deal I would take every day of the year. BELEZINHA GO FLAMES
Shadow079 Another major steal. Knew how good you were and loved the way you think and go about the game from WCOR, grats to you for topping your pool in ur 2nd ever rands tour, and super thankful for your flexibility when we had you subbing in a couple of weeks early on. Always enjoy yapping about the games in vc too. See you in WCOR chief.
tkhanh Easily the most underrated member of our team, your help prepping and was so incredibly important, you would have been starting on most other teams, wish we could have got you more games but dinis and marco were just cooking too hard. We were lucky to have you, we won't forget that game where you subbed in and beat your ex manager, one of the best moments of the regular season. Greatly enjoyed your presence and sick that we got you a morty avatar.
Chains of Markov You only played 1 set but my god what an important set it was. Must win while we were down 6-8 to help send us to a tiebreak. Dutch gene = clutch gene, that much has been made clear. Always providing stellar insight and analysis, love the way your mind works. Wish we could have got more games for you too.
mdill97 Never wanted anyone else as my r20, you know what you’re getting when you’re on the team. Constant loyal support for everyone and flexible enough to pop in a bunch of slots if needed. Really wish some more results went your way this year but keen as to see you start cooking in a WCOR starting slot and getting to that pool dominating level I know is there next RBTT. Much love my brother, was great to see you were so confident in our team you offered to do practise games with our opponents.
And finally, my fricking manager JustOut459. Obviously I could not have done this without you, you deserve all the glaze you are receiving and more. So many rough moments from the jump, having to dig ourselves out of the hole we were in after week 3 and it feeling like everything from rng to host decisions were against us had us in such a mental rut we wallowed in it briefly but we rebounded harder than ever and holy shit we won dude.
Your approach to drafting and managing is so meticulous and precise, and I think our styles compliment each other nicely. Congrats on a 2/2 tour winrate as a manager. Who knows if we will do this again as I know we have both aged about 5 years in 2 months but I'm so grateful we could do this together. Also 6-2 record not too shabby ig.
Firstly A Cake Wearing A Hat and sharpclaw ty for hosting and picking us as managers. Ik we butted heads a bunch and there are some moments I wish went differently, but the tour simply doesn’t happen without you guys so credit where it’s due. Also Sapphire epic job on the spreadsheet, lotta work has gone in there which goes unnoticed.
Clem Thank you for your work on our custom avatars man, you were such a pleasure to collaborate with and I still think our avis are some of the best in the tour. Got a lotta appreciation and respect for you.
FragmentsSapphirecleanRageLogIceClem Y’all are some of the managers I got to know a lil better, tons of respect for you guys too, enjoyed my interactions with you folks and hope to see you run it back.
Also Dark PulsePrinceOfAllTacos I learned a lot about managing from observing how you ran your teams when I was an ass fledgling player, gleaned a lot of what I do from y’all.
paysa Constant yarning about draft and strategy before and throughout the tour has been a blast. Still think your team was better than the results say.
GGs everybody! Was a rollercoaster of a tour, but I'm very glad we were able to take it home in the end! Very proud of our team for staying locked in after a shaky start to the season. It was a lot of fun teaming with you all; I couldn't ask for a nicer team environment, and I think that played a big role in helping us turn things around midway through the tour. I'm greatly looking forward to teaming with as many of you in the future as our auction budget will plausibly allow!
Now, to all my team members that got us here:
Michielleus - Some called us fated rivals for all of the times we've had to play each other in tournaments (10 times btw). Others have called us... something more... Either way, it was nice to finally be on the same side so I could top the Gen 6 pool for once without incurring my mandatory Michielleus tax :p. Thanks for being so flexible and willing to slot wherever you were needed; it was comforting knowing that we could always rely on you to show up wherever and dominate! See you in three weeks when we inevitably play for circuit... again.
marcofiero - It's still kinda insane to me that I've been able to casually team with a VGC goat in a rands tour lol, and twice for that matter. It's been really cool seeing how engaged you've been with randdubs and the rands community as a whole, given how many other Pokemon events and such you have to prepare for. Your VGC skill has definitely translated excellently to rands, and I hope you'll continue to pop off in both randdubs and VGC in future years to come!
JJ09LIE - The clutch king himself, nonchalantly securing the tiebreak win vs Hoopas in dominant fashion. Us picking you up was completely spontaneous as we realised that you'd somehow slipped all the way to Round 3, and it's largely thanks to you that we were able to shuffle our roster a bunch while still having a strong Gen 9 lineup. Good luck with SPL and all the other stuff you have going on, I'm sure you'll kill it there too.
Star Wheel - Our graduate from Team Kangaskhans that frankly should never have been in RBEL to begin with. Very proud of how you were able to lock in after a bit of a shaky start to the season and put on a clinic when it mattered. It's been a pleasure to see you develop as a player since you first came into our sights during RBLT quals. Looking forward to see you continue to cook in the future as a new doubles main
Slikkles - The one who finished the job. Complete dominance displayed throughout the season; it was always nice going to bed trusting that I'd be waking up to a BSSF win. I know you were pretty hard on yourself after the game in semis, but you absolutely killed it all tour and bounced back flawlessly to close out finals. I hope this result will help you keep confidence in yourself as a player no matter the result of any one week. Good luck in your many other tours, and ty for not self-jinxing via AMA post until after the tour this time :p
Zap - Oh hey, speaking of complete dominance throughout the season. You definitely lived up to your avatar's likeness in terms of, y'know...
brutally massacring all who dared oppose you
Playoffs might not have gone your way but we certainly wouldn't have made playoffs without your regular season performance. Hope to see you involved in other rands events throughout the year!
Zcarlett - I know this obviously wasn't the season you were hoping for, but I really appreciate how you were able to stay motivated to keep playing in spite of the many Gen 2 Moments™ you had to endure. Also very grateful for you being willing to do practice games throughout playoffs; I couldn't have blamed you for wanting to be done with rands for the tour, so staying involved was a very admirable attitude. I hope that you'll have a better time next year, as well as during circuit this year!
anankaios - My main source of intel for you came from paysa's endless glazing during WCOR, as well as your impressive circuit performances in the few tours you played in. Needless to say that you certainly lived up to the hype, firmly stamping your name in amongst the list of Gen 3 powerhouses. Though I might not forgive you for the mental damage that Sokoban in 3D gave me, it was still a pleasure to have Jyusaan's identical twin on the team, and I look forward to seeing you continue to flourish in the rands scene.
Trade - I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message from you expressing interest in playing in RBTT this year; felt like the mentor coming out of retirement to re-enter the fray with their now-grown students. It was a pleasure to team up with you once again; we had full faith in your ability to get back in form after your hiatus, and you certainly proved that faith to be well-founded, despite Roulette trying its best to force-feed you Gen 2 gameplay. I can understand if you don't, but I'd certainly hope that you stick around the rands scene for a while longer – we still have one more team tour to tick off, after all :p
Gom - Gen 4 and Gen 5 Random Battles. Some are calling them fates worse than death, so I'm very sorry for subjecting you to not just one, but indeed both of them throughout season. Moreover, I greatly appreciate how optimistic and supportive you were during the season, through both our victories and defeats. You are certainly a better player than your scoreline suggests, and I'm sure you'll cook in future iterations of RBTT to come!
RoFnA - Goat. Another instance of us being shocked that you'd fallen so late in the draft, and being more than happy to pick you up to further consolidate our modern gen core. Thank you for being flexible with being subbed while we figured out our optimal roster, and especially thank you for taking W after W after W as soon as you got subbed back in. It was a pleasure to team with you again after my very first RBTT two years ago, and I will never forget your truly profound closing statement after clutching in finals:
ninjadog - Obviously not the season you might have hoped for; another victim of Gen 5 Random Battles™. Hope to see you again for WCOR later this year; observing the trend from previous years, I expect a dominant showing in WCOR '26!
oaklies - My favourite Scrabble prodigy and Miffy enthusiast :p. It was nice to finally team with you, even if it didn't quite pan out as you may have hoped. Still, you stayed positive as always, and your presence in team chat was greatly appreciated. Hopefully we get the chance to run it back next year (if you haven't pivoted to becoming the World Scrabble Champion in the interim, that is...)
dinispereira - There I was, sifting through the 70 billion tryout requests from various up-and-coming players, wondering if the next Michielleus was even out there or if there was no more new talent to be found. Next thing I know, I'm getting packed up four times in a row by someone whose name I was vaguely familiar with, but whose game I was clearly not. Needless to say, you cleanly translated that showing into an incredible 7-1 performance (probably the best record of any RBTT debutant ever?). It's been amazing seeing the dubs community grow so much over the past year or two, and you've firmly placed yourself at the forefront of the new must-watch doubles prodigies.
Kingslayer Caterpie - Ghostilex deserves 100% credit for picking you up, and boy am I glad he did. It was incredible seeing you bounce back after an unlucky start and proceed to assert dominance throughout the rest of the tour, all while introducing me to the surprisingly vast amount of Caterpie gifs floating around. I hope you stay around for future RBTTs; you were a great team presence and an excellent teammate to have!
Shadow079 - The OCE NU player they tell me not to worry about. Ever since WCOR last year you've been one of the most exciting newcomers to the rands scene, and especially to the OCE squad. You joined Dinis in the 'Topping your pool in your debut RBTT season' category, making the two of you incredibly high value draft picks. Thanks for being flexible with subbing at the start of the season until we decided to release your full potential as a starter. Definitely looking forward to seeing you pop off in WCOR this year!
tkhanh - When it came to drafting Dubs 2, we weren't sure how to pick between you and Dinis. After much deliberation, and some consultation with Optidox, we simply decided to get both of you :p. Unfortunately our doubles regiment suffered from the crippling ailment of Being Too Good, and you didn't get the starting time you deserved and would have had on another team. Nevertheless, your extensive scouting and practice gaming with the other doubles players was incredibly appreciated. It was quite heartwarming seeing the three of you working together to effortlessly dismantle each of the opposing doubles cores, and I hope next year you'll be able to show everybody what you're capable of.
Chains of Markov - Another victim of our team's aforementioned Being Too Good diagnosis; after your showing in circuit you definitely deserved more time on the big stage. However, while you weren't there for a long time, you definitely still made your mark (heh). Waking up to see that you and Mich had completed the 6-8 comeback to force tiebreaker in semis was maybe the most hype moment of our entire season; it really was a shame that I wasn't awake to see it unfold live. I think you're criminally underrated as a player, and I'm sure that as you continue to cook, you'll get the recognition you deserve.
mdill97 - The streets will not forget that debut game. Johnny freaking Hamcheck rocked up to the scene and showed the custom avatar-having Smogon bourgeoisie what a working-class Chimaera 1v1 Random Battle main was truly capable of (just don't ask who his employer is). Unfortunately the rest of the season didn't quite go your way, but worry not; when they finally add Gen 6 Megas Revisited Random Battles to RBTT 10, the world will know the name Mdill97. Just try not to get super-perma-for-real-this-time-banned in the interim...
Ghostilex - My freaking manager. Your passion and motivation for the whole team throughout the tour was incredibly inspiring, and you were a big part in shaping our team identity and culture. It can be hard to maintain a positive team environment while we're dead last in the standings about to reach the tour's halfway mark, but your ability to keep the whole team pumped and looking forward is unrivalled. The only shame of co-managing with you is that you didn't get to throw your own hat into the Roulette ring. Luckily, we'll both be able to play next team tour; here's to an equally victorious WCOR!
Big shoutouts as well to A Cake Wearing A Hat and sharpclaw for putting in so much effort in to hosting and making this as fun of an experience as possible. I can only imagine how tough it must be to juggle all the bits and pieces of a tour like this, not to mention all the other mons and non-mons things you two have going on in your lives. You should both be incredibly proud of how you've fostered and developed the competitive rands scene, and I greatly appreciate how much you've done for this community.
GGs again to all the other players and managers; general consensus is that this was the most competitive iteration of RBTT yet, and I certainly agree. Looking forward to seeing the competition only get stronger in years to come. See you all next year o7
In the meantime, though – RBEL done, RBTT done, WCOR... stay tuned :p
