Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027!

The Castlevania solution is more than adequate. The Gen 4 and 5 games didn't do much split screen fuckery where having the bottom screen be off to the side would affect much of anything. This is a turn based RPG, your attention isn't going to get divided. They'd have to alter the way some minigames are played but that's it.

The Dual Screen issue is not an issue at all. We solved this several times over the years. Even aside from Castlevania, Capcom is putting out a collection of Star Force games, all of which were on the DS and used the bottom screen significantly more than Pokemon does.
Official nintendo emulation (TM) on Switch probably will have a bunch of modes because the wii u DS emulation had a bunch of modes. And that'll likely be the basis GameFreak ever uses. But I dont' think GF gets to it before Nintendo does so we're probably just not getting it for years and years and years.

apparently the save states in the gamecube nso port of xd gale of darkness are very abuseable. they didn't seem to add anything to the emulation to prevent this like how some emulators do (desmume the ds emulator for example does this, the same exact rng seed is repeated)

videos going around of people being able to constantly load save states for snags, lol

no wonder there's no home compatibility, lmao (the real reason might be that they couldn't figure out how to do it with the nso service titles being cloud saves, who knows)

I think re: DS re-releases, it's worth considering that they might want to keep DPP off while BDSP are still sold in stores. The latter definitely does make more money. I'm not sure what their track record has been in similar cases (i.e. idk if they've rereleased rse when oras was out, etc.) but it'd not surprise me if this is a reason why they don't bother.

it also shows that dual screen wouldn't be an issue technically. they'd def find a more than adequate workaround and either way dpp itself wouldn't be super compromised for any workaround.

FRLG has been the first time any of the GBA games have ever been re-released. The first time they re-released any of the games was Gen 1 on 3DS VC in 2016.

I'm not sure if I'm correct when I say this since I haven't tested, but XD has a "Quick Play" mode that gives players rental doubles teams, and it can be played vs an NPC or with a friend. If online MP works for Quick Play, this is currently all we have for online Gen 3 gameplay on the Switch 2 :worrywhirl:

This is not a specific DS emulator quirk, battle RNG doesn't advance midbattle until a move is made (in Platinum/HGSS) as a part of the game itself. In DP and earlier games you can indeed savestate to get different results because the RNG advances based on passed time.

Werster's Any% HGSS WR (on console) uses this to save and reset before Red for a favourable initial seed/manipped fight.

Heaven forbid people be allowed to bypass spinning the catching roulette that was and continues to not be fun. TPCi hates anything good.

Sorry, just kind of salty from dealing with Shadow Entei on original hardware the other day. Took me like half an hour to catch.
Just use the infinite ball glitch?

One month tops till champions can't wait wish they would reveal if 6v6 singles is an option

Me watching everyone having fun with Pokopia and the series getting some much-needed critical acclaim knowing that Champions is gonna snuff out this newfound good will in a month by being the most heinous pay2win slop imaginable

I didn't know this was a hot take, but I don't think Pokémon Champions is a Pay to win.

I mean, yea, you can still make in-game purchases and those help you obtain some items that you could only get otherwise by playing a few hours, BUT this game makes official online Pokémon battles free again, as you don't need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to battle.

Honestly, this was what I was waiting for in order to come back to the official competitive, as I refused to ever pay for NSO, so I'm actually hyped for Champions.

And even if I did have to pay for some things in-game, this game may be worth it, as it looks like a legitimate Stadium successor and graphics aren't that bad - have you guys seen the intro for the game at The Official Pokémon Asia Youtube Channel?

P2W might be too harsh, but "a few hours" is probably too optimistic

Everything seems relatively costly and those costs are going to rise substantial for each mainline game you don't own (we'll ignore Home for this, and just assume that the 30 free spots you get are enough to swap things in & out + maybe you do just make "copies" every time you "visit").
Premium pass stuff will go to the shop after the pass is over, but who knows how long that'll take to cycle in or how long it'll take to find it in the shop if it has the same reroll methodology as the Pokemon (& owning the games won't really expedite this either).

It'll definitely be interesting to see the payouts and what the single player content might get you

Speaking of Champions

Despite being previously announced as an April release, Pokémon's TikTok account claims its coming out on... March 25?! Which would be this Wednesday???
it was weird enough to not give something more precise than an April launch in February

Maybe they just wanted to release it the day it got done and it got done a little earlier than expected or something?

Ok but then

Why is there no release date? That was weird enough in February and now it releases somewhere within the next 40 days and we still don't know when

We´ve known about the april 2nd/3rd date for a while, but considering that they´re gonna have a presential playable demo on the 26th-28th I´d say that´s probably when we´ll get the date officially. There might have been delays in production that led to not being sure they would be able to release at the date they had planned

abilities for the ZA starter megas have been revealed

Serebii Update: New Abilities have been revealed for Mega Evolved Pokémon in Pokémon Champions

Mega Meganium gets a new one called Mega Sol uses moves as if Sunny Day is in effect
Mega Emboar gets Mold Breaker
Mega Feraligatr gets Dragonize - Turns Normal-type moves into Dragon-type

the mega meganium ability is literally an ability that is in like most fangames/hacks with mega meganium in them, lol
if it works the way it is worded that's 2/3 health synthesis, +2 atk/satk growths, instant solar beams, and the fire 100 bp weatherball

mold breaker on mega boar is lame, I'm very disappointed. losing reckless and not gaining any sufficient ability to replace it is very lame.

dragonize is okay I guess for mega gatr but I was hoping for dragon's maw (the regidrago ability)

Jesus they screwed emboar

Meganium Ability needs some clarifications but it’s somewhere between really good and fucking broken.

Does it reset sun every turn, or does it just automatically have sun effects active for every move. Either way it has the best boosting move AND the best healing move in the game because of this.

it does not set sun, it acts as if sun is active when it uses moves. so even in rain it would be able to do moves as if it was sunny. presumably this also means it would cancel out the rain debuff for fire weatherball?

probably the most broken mega ability we have seen in quite some time, lol
