OU DPP OU Viability Ranking [updated May 2025]

The reason magneton is popular is for its ability to out-speed common dragon dances such as adamant gyarados and dragonite after they obtain the +1 from dragon dance.

It can serve the purpose of being a check to them, as well as trapping skarm (and sometimes weakened steels).
So magneton would be ranked OU if DPP had active tiering

Real talk: I can only imagine Roserade's gonna start free-fallin' from here on out (unless we discover some new roserade tech in the future)

just wanted to mention with the sleep ban protect loom is a lot more common, making trick room worse against looms
Ehhh, Trick Room is pretty bad. Mainly bc this is before P2 got an Eviolite buff, which did help turn P2 into a reliable wall that can check Dragon Dancers (Gyara & D-Nite). Download helps prevent P2 from being a passive wall with a nice SpA boost & a Modest nature.

The problem with TR is when people over commit to it. Its good if you approach it with the mindset that you dont always need to use it, depending on the matchup. If you lead Zong and go T1 TR -> T2 Explosion then its bad. If you keep Zong in the back for a late game sweep, its good.

Which is why I prefer Semi Trick Room imo (The TR Zong + Banded Tar). More flexible & better surprise.
