GARY

cryonicles (7) vs raiders (5)
bhkg vs zS
zs has looked great throughout the season & if you're a momentum believer that also is in favor of him
clean vs tier
tier has very sneakily put up a 6-1 record & strictly looking at the wins I think SoS isn't too different but I think the additional knowledge/experience clean has puts him up
watashi vs jj09lie
I think watashi just looks better atm
kdca vs ashketchum gamer
conventional wisdom says to the guy who just got as good a mu as possible in tiebreaks & pool farmed but so far BUT akg is so far 3/3 in finals appearances, lost the first one, was on the bench the 2nd time so whats left? a win
corazon vs fc
I like corazon's play a bit more personally
c0mp vs eternal spirit
both were slotted in here mid-season and immediately started winning, I think c0mp is a little hotter atm
mgdos16 vs ruffles
cheering for the rookie
garythegengar vs star
surely star isn't lucked for the umpteenth time
gilbert arenas vs skyrio
ngl marcop is probably favored here but skyrio had an excellent sophomore season, no matter the outcome of this game, and a finals win is just the bow on top
robjr vs endill
not super familiar at all with eithers gameplay but will bold endill so he avoids ending negative :psyglad:
zokuru vs underlying
zok has been trying at this trophy for so long that I'm sure he is giga-motivated for this
Sceptross vs beeorsomething
purely off momentum

Hall of Fame watch time! (also: forgive me for the fact that my letter p is broken on my keyboard, so every time I use a capital p for the rest of the post I'm copying it in from the last time I typed PDC)

22 players are looking for their first Smogon trophy with this tournament (same as SCL, more than last SPDCL)
- Cryonicles: bhkg, clean, kDCA, MGdos16, Gilbert arenas, Zokuru, Sceptross, zinc, Dugtrio is Broken, gorgie, Sam
- Raiders: tier, JJ09LIE, Ruffles, Skyrio, Endill, Underlying, BeeOrSomething, Vileman, Laurel, twash, MAVERICK SHOOTERS

6 players are looking for their second trophy:
- Cryonicles: :Manectric-Mega:c0mp:Manectric-Mega:
- Raiders: :Maushold:zS:Maushold:, :Miraidon:Fc:Miraidon:, :Alakazam-Mega:Star:Alakazam-Mega:, :Corviknight:Charmflash:Corviknight:, :Riolu:MANNAT:Riolu:

4 players are looking for their third trophy:
- Cryonicles: :Medicham:GaryTheGengar:Medicham:, :Groudon:robjr:Groudon:, :Duskull:Luigi:Duskull:, :Poliwhirl:Corazan:Poliwhirl:*
- Raiders: n/a

With a Raiders win, :Kyurem-Black:Eternal Spirit:Kyurem-Black: would pick up a fourth trophy (SSD I, SCL I, SCL III), moving them into a tie for 31st in the Hall of Fame.

With a Cryonicles win, :Shroomish:watashi:Shroomish:would become the all-time leader in career SPDCL trophies, with 4 (IV, VI, and XI). With no other trophies, this would move them up to the tie for 31st in the Hall of Fame.

With a Cryonicles win, :Poliwhirl:Corazan:Poliwhirl: would become the 7th member of Smogon's (Triple Gold Club?) elite club that have won all three teamtour trophies, a club that currently hosts elodin (the inaugural member, who completed the feat in SSD 2018), BIHI (since SCL 2022), SoulWind (since WCOPDC 2023), Tace (since WCOPDC 2024), S1nn0hC0nfirm3d (since SPDCL 2025), and lax (since SCL 2025).

And saving the best for last, with a Cryonicles win, :Skarmory:PDC:Skarmory: would claim their first SPDCL trophy, their fifth teamtour trophy, and their sixth overall trophy, moving them into a tie with -Tsunami- for 8th all-time. As far as I can tell, this is the first change to Smogon's top 10 since SPDCL 2023 (when McMeghan and Tricking claimed their fifth trophies). This would also have the effect of leaving Dave (joindate Oct 19, 2007) as the longest-tenured user in the top 10, kicking out goofball and Veteran in Love (both 2004 joindates who picked up their fifth trophies in 2008).

A few other narratives:

Only one player left in this tournament also played in the very first iteration, but since there were two that played in teamtours that first year, I'll talk about both. No matter which team wins, one of gorgie or twash is guaranteed to win their first trophy, 16 and 17 years after their respective sheet debuts. This is the first finals appearance for either of them, while we're at it.

By career sheet wins, the most accomplished remaining players still looking for their first red trophy are Gilbert arenas (64), Fc (46), PDC (39), gorgie (39), and zS (34). If you're looking for individual tour metrics, the most accomplished player left is undoubtedly PDC, not really a contest, they've got an individual trophy, five top 8s, twelve top 16s, but no reds! c0mp is the only other player left with an individual trophy and no SPDCL trophies. Meanwhile, Eternal Spirit's two individual finals are the most of anyone left looking for their first red trophy this year; in terms of individual semifinals, PDC, Eternal Spirit, and Corazan are tied with three. After PDC's 12, though, do you think you could name the player remaining with the most individual playoff appearances? It's Luigi, with 8, but they already have a red trophy. After them, though, is Zokuru with 5.

To be clear, I'll be picking Star to win in finals and I presume I'll do the same for a hypothetical tiebreak if it gets that far, but there's definitely a part of me cheering for history. Only two players have ever lost 9 games in a single season, and they both went winless that year. Meanwhile, Star's already at 2-8, with at least one more game coming and possibly two. Unfortunately, my fascination with morbid trivia outweighs my desire to get all my game picks correct, so I'm cheering for the mythical 10-loss season. I'm sure the Raiders would very much not agree.

JJ09LIE, c0mp, and Ruffles were all members of the finalist Tigers last year, all looking for vengeance, and unfortunately not all able to win. For that matter, the former two were both on the finalist Tigers in 2024 as well, so one of them's guaranteed to lose three straight finals. It's not easy out here.

And I mean, Cryos in the finals! They've only been here once before, way back in 2014; for reference, blarajan went 11-0 in XY LC that year, and Fakes is the only player left from that team. I just think I have to cheer for them, I really do. The funny thing is, I picked them to be bad before the season started. I thought the Raiders would be better! While ORAS and ADV for the Cryos have turned out better than I expected preseason I'm still favouring the Raiders in both slots, so really what this comes down to is that I expect the Cryos to have a mid (or worse) OU group, and instead it's performed at an elite level. But I think it's very cool that they've been this good. tbh I think we need a critical reevaluation of the PDCiyu/Spitfire manager duo purely for their role in the PDCaissance

Another year, another SPL finals for c0mp . This guy is on his 2xSPL Losing Streak he wouldn't be able to handle the 3rd one.
Cryos must win this SPL to make this man happy as he has been waiting for this moment his whole life (unemployment at its peak).
If losing finals was a job, he’d finally beat the unemployment allegations.

Go Cryos, Go c0mp.

Good luck to both finalists!

P.S. It would be great if hosts could use a different image hosting software, for some reason it's been blocked in the UK for a while now

Crazy matchups for finals! Let’s go cryonicles I would like to see marcop x pdc rooommate combo win the tournament, that irl connection can go very far in this game… shoutouts the late Ctc! (Rip)

Cryonicles (8) vs (4) Team Raiders

SV OU: bhkg vs zS - 45:55 shoutouts bhkg one of my favorite teammates ever on east. A true Pokemon addict who was spamming fifty games per week in World Cup to make sure he was ready and he was always dishing out beatdowns. Altho He is subject to a few moments where he succumbs to the enjoyment of clicky playz and then gets humbly pwnedddd (beas gliscor) but overall he plays strong games and also brought some cool teams I liked this season like his treads ttar team. I can’t root against my ex teammate zS though who is inarguably the scariest player to face in sv right now. That’s right I’m making the boss call that zS is currently running sv OU. Always brings some weird shit and always makes lord plays repeatedly. I rmbr even back in scl he would always build some shit that would have you like ??? But actually it was :swole::swole: He’s way too tough. I told him that fire spin hydreigon was crazy he said “I have more techs I didn’t get to show” = he is on true demon time and is getting to true god status in sv, a level only a few have achieved (vert xav basedlord etc). I expect an explosive game where zS comes out on top.

SV OU: clean vs tier - 53:47 normally I would give clean slightly higher odds in a matchup like this bc he is pretty solid in team choice and in plays and that can carry you far in sv, but tieracid is too tough, straight offense spamming every single game and then also gets lucky every other game. NO HATE though, as written in the Old Testament “bringing offense deserves timely rewards” so stop hating. Also bro had a true lord game where he bluffed the scarf darkrai and won with last mon ogre i forgot who it was vs tho but it was an impressive mind control beatdown. I haven’t seen past that for tier acid but definitely one of ceruledges strongest soldiers (not a compliment) I will give the edge to clean as he usually beats players around his level comfortably and can falter to those that are one level ahead (bute, vert, etc) but no hate just my observations in my crusade for fair predictions. Gl to both players!

SV OU: watashi vs JJ09LIE - 60:40 overall strong sv performance from watashi this year after only playing this tier previously in wcop (where he told me he didn’t need my teams and wants to build his own and the loaded thundurus t and got pwneddd, but that’s neither here nor there.) he has learned a lot in this tier about what it takes to win and how you cannot treat sv like the older fairy gens. He has truly blossomed into a current gen threat and it brings true tears of joys to my eyes to see one of my boomer fuck friends finally understand sv ;} kind of… he still has some shite games but overall a lot of improvement since I last saw him play sv. You may be thinking this is an insulting predict but no I greatly predict flcl to win this game with 60% odds after seeing his playoffs clutch and all around when he just brings old bulky o he is usually in control. Also he had a very smart remix on the vert screens which he brought vs nat and I stole it so +10 points for that too. Jj09lie is a player I rated higher a year or two ago but has sort of slipped in recent showings. That being said he made it to finals last year with the tigers and flexxed hard with psong primarina and other troll sets and I remember thinking that game was very entertaining. Second finals in a row + winning last years finals game removes most doubts from me that he will not be fine in this final game of his, but I am goin to still give it to flcl whose team choice and aggression in battle has been more impressive to me this year. FLCL4SPLTROPHIES.exe loading…

SV OU: kDCA vs Ash KetchumGamer - 58:42 damn ash Ketchumgamer 3/3 finals! True clutchboss to make it 3/3 finals to spl and also potentially being able to win all 3 is crazy and ash might have been right that he really is a good luck charm for any spl team that takes him. :pimp: that being said this is a prediction on the game rather than which team wins spl, and since that is the focus I will have to say I comfortably predict kdca to win. After I saw the mind control ewin administered in semifinals endgame where kdca clicked substitute and other fuckery I wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to withstand the rematch in tiebreak. It felt to me like the two players were levels apart in terms of mentality. But it turns out I was extremely wrong and kdca was just making it exciting so he could unleash exodia zamazenta in the tiebreaker. Game was dix but that moment was hype. Also raging bolt lead was smart and gained a big advantage so sure maybe matchup was good but he made all the right plays aka didn’t play like a bot and thus won the game comfortably. definitely strong and I approve of the varied team choices when he brings something new. Shoutouts ash too he can def play altho I find the raiders sv to be more lacking than the cryos in terms of team building etc so I am predicting the cryos 3-1 in sv OU.

SS OU: Corazan vs Fc - 52:48 - I am not going to act like i watched more than 4 games from both players listed here, but i rmbr corazan from back in the day cos he played when i played and was also a force to be reckoned with towards the end of SS circa late 2022. Shoutouts Fc as well becuz the one game I remember from him this season is when he played Ikaishi and he outplayed in offense v offense and handily won, it was also to clutch week so +10 points. if we go by semifinals then i have to give the edge to corazan for his epic zapdos, while Fc honestly got kind of lucky + mdb2 dr stranged the only loss path in the end game which made it kind of unbelievable. Regardless, I rate these two players to be fairly even in playing and have seen high levels of aggression from both which makes their games explosive and entertaining. 52:48 because I do think they are pretty damn close, but this ranking updates to a 70:30 if corazan brings his throat goat zapdos again GO ZAPDOS (it takes massive cojones to load this type of set even if you need to hit hurricane, but it is still a beast move to load this shit up in semifinals so rooting for corazan):psywoke:

SM OU: c0mp vs Eternal Spirit - 40:60 - Gama is on fire right now in SM, 3/3 new teams in his last 3 games and also making aggro lord plays in all 3, he must think its 2017 again and he's him. i'd agree though. i saw his game vs drachenkeule live and he made extreme god plays going hard excadrill on z lando continental and then swap back to his own lando-t on eq. it was an amazing series of plays that stuck with me even to this day. which isnt that crazy bc i only saw the game 2 weeks ago but you get my point. anyways ive always been a gama fan and have played bro way too many times back in the day so i will always certify him as a true threat, especially when it comes to gens 6/7. this guy is the og no fux clicker, if it feels good fuck it we clicking it no timer needed. shoutout comp one time for strong performances in the last few months, however i find the team choice to be extremely lacking, being 50% sample teams and 50% in house creations that are legit bad (the tiebreak team is truly unforgivable, weavile fat with no removal is a cardinal sin and i refuse to believe ZERO players on the cryonicles objected to this and that they all said "yeah bro this is definitely the best version of the team." I was actually so shocked seeing such a team brought to an important game, it literally did not make sense to see weavile fat w no removal, but whatever) that being said, every game comes down to plays, and so did the tiebreaker game yday, but in the end you need to up your own chances by not bringing a self sabotage team, so this is a message to the cryonicles to heed my warning and stop building literal dogshit. No hate to comp though, seen some great plays in the past, but again, a good team is very important.

ORAS OU: MGdos16 vs Ruffles - 45:55 - despite some objectively thrown games by ruffles this season, i still value him in the clutch and am a big fan of his varied teambuilding style. altho recently i think he has preferred the bulkier builds and i think theyre more exploitable i hope he reaches deep into his bag this round and pulls out a new offense or a FULL STALL. I am not with the midrange shit in oras i find it easy to get taken advantage of and pwned (basically if u go clef spikes u need to go all the way fat clef spikes no mixing w random offense shitters). mgdos only runs sample teams and known past tournament teams so i think that if this practice persists for the finals game, then ruffles will likely be able to identify the team he is up against when the matchup starts just bc he plays a lot and has probably seen most. who knows though, not everyone remembers every game they ever see like i do. Gl to both players, although i would have liked to see more games from noname872193812 who impressed me this season with dope teams and dope plays. so shoutouts to him. shoutouts oras a truly beautiful tier that favors the thinking man.

BW OU: GaryTheGengar vs Star - 51:49 - Beast matchup for the final bw game. Shoutouts gary one time, a true OG of this tier and a fellow IDM clanmate that is still putting up numbers in SPL to this day. Truly a dirk nowitzki type player, season after season and still getting buckets. I recall our spls teaming with fondness as you put up beatdowns in both gen4 and gen5 at the time. Star having the #FALLOFF tour going for 89001$ and getting fried every game, altho i finally realize why he keeps whining about luck bc he actually did get haxed badly by harshest last week in the semis... srry bro that was a tough game. we ALL stand with you after that. I am pretty high on both players here, and usually i'd give star a higher chance to win this game because he is known for going clutch in the playoffs, but gary being one of the 5 remaining idm soldiers playing in big tournaments gives him a +20 to rep and thus he is slightly favored 51:49. I expect a lot of aggro plays and at least 2 chokes in this battle because these guys are some high octane clickers. I eagerly await this battle and good luck to both of my homies!

DPP OU: Gilbert arenas vs Skyrio - 55:45 - Another dynamite game for the finals. Marcop proved in the semifinals that he is worth AT LEAST 50% of his price tag with his b2b ownage display in dpp, beating the same opponent twice and defending against the enemy teams tiebreak pick. all around a nice aura farm moment for my boy. +20. It was about time though, they were jumping his ass in regular season lol... I actually have watched like 4 skyrio games and he played great in all 4 and has a smart sense of who to preserve and who to just keep getting hits off with when i watch his games. I find his playstyle to be proper balance of aggressive and analytical and thus i find this to be a battle of the 2 STRONGEST DPPERS in the tournament. Some will disagree with my assessment and that's ok but this is what i've gathered with my extensive dpp spectator knowledge over the course of this tournament. Skyrio is a true threat on the battlefield and if he is not intimidated by marcops massive price and overall shittalk douche persona, then he can take this battle fairly easily and this can be closer to 50/50. I gave marcop the edge bc tyrants teammate buff + irl roommate in spl buff + hot off tiebreak ownage where he said bow down after getting 16 turns extremely wrong in a row. You just can't predict against this guy. It's time to be great marcop, your third time in the finals of this very tour!! Let's get the job done finally

ADV OU: robjr vs Endill - 50:50 - sry i have not watched much of either players games so i went with my gut reaction which is based on the 1 game ive seen of each player this season. robjrs game being where he went crit mdragon with blissey and won which was very funny and endills game where he got haxed by fruhdazi (who haxed every opp he beat this year btw) but he was playing strong until then and i did take notice of that. I will give Endill the edge because I think he has the potential to make some strong reads in a tight jam situation. but also robjr has been here for a while and is not some ADV newcomer by any means, he can easily win this by turning it up bc ive seen robjr make lord plays repeatedly in games in the past to win them, i just am not sure if that version of him is still capable of coming out. profound analysis by me on this one. we will give it to endill just barely but this is the closest game for me

GSC OU: Zokuru vs Underlying - 60:40 - I'm a big fan of Zok and his semifinals game satisifed me, even though it brings me great pain to see my ally rubyblood be the receiver of the L... overall though Zok has cool plays and picks, and im a #FAN. Shoutouts to underlying one time.

RBY OU: Sceptross vs BeeOrSomething - 50:50 - I don't watch RBY much at all even though it is a very entertaining spectator tier. My friends glaze sceptross a lot so i will give it to him, but beeorsomething has good win posts that make me laugh. at least 2 of their posts have made me laugh so thats why even though i bolded sceptross i put this at 50:50. sorry i cant give a true prediction, i just dont watch this tier much lol

Sorry for long predicts, but haven't done in a while and wanted to contribute to a thread! SPL is always a fun and extremely demanding tournament and making it to the finals is no easy feat so be proud of yourselves finalists! shoutouts to the tigers for making it to the semifinals tb after b2b finals showings in 2024/25. It is definitely hard to be on the cusp of victory this many times and fall short, and trust me i know it well as the tyrants reputation was basically playoffs losers until we finally won. Altho, even past that I think the tigers should be proud of the fact that they have become known as a true competitor in the SPL. There was a time not too long ago where players would get drafted to the tigers and it would be considered the "SPL GRAVEYARD" and "where dreams go to die" But that is no longer the case as the tigers have proven themselves to be playoffs contenders year after year and a true challenge to face. Bravo. It is not easy to shed a past reputation of being a shit team. Next up on this path is hopefully the Bigs who are still buns! No hate, just some analysis of spl teams over time that came to my mind. also a shoutout to players who impressed me this year. pixie909 zs attribute harshest axzel noname6969 199lives triangles santu and last but not least, my favorite player of the tournament a real jester - you all had some games that i greatly enjoyed or was shocked by (in a good way)

No hate, just some analysis of spl teams over time that came to my mind. also a shoutout to players who impressed me this year. pixie909 zs attribute harshest axzel noname6969 199lives triangles santu and lost but not least, my favorite player of the tournament a real jester - you all had some games that i greatly enjoyed or was shocked by (in a good way)
Im gonna find you blundour.
