Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. Hello everyone I'm RedemptiveSketch and this RMT is about a sun team that got me to my peak Elo featuring a Slither Wing and a Blaziken. This is my first RMT so please excuse if it turns out to be a bit bad.
Ok so before we begin with the actual team breakdown I want to mention that this team actually went through some changes when i created the original team but I will link the scrapped out version of the team below mentioning its flaws along with the proof of peak and replays.
THE TEAM:

https://pokepast.es/c363706536039e18
Here's the team breakdown:
1.
Ability: Protosynthesis
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Earthquake
Starting us of with one of the stars of the team and the Pokémon which inspired me to make this team in the first place - Slither Wing.
Slither Wing is an incredible wall breaker because not even resists want to switch into its Close Combats and U-turns in and out of the sun. With a Choice Band and a base attack stat of 135(similar to
's) it can dish out massive damage in and out of sun. With moves like Earthquake Slither Wing can threaten the likes of
and grounded
. First Impression is a great priority attack which lets Slither Wing pick off either weakened or faster opponents. I've chosen tera bug to improve the damage on first impression and to pick off surprised knockouts against
and
. However tera fighting to improve the damage on Close Combat is workable too. Under sun Slither Wing manages to effortlessly switch into
threatening a 1HKO. U-turn is there to provide momentum and the speed evs are engineered to outspeed
.
252+ Atk Choice Band Protosynthesis Slither Wing Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Great Tusk: 340-402 (91.6 - 108.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
2.
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Encore
- Healing Wish
- Will-O-Wisp
Next up is the team's sun setter and arguably the better one out of the two - Ninetales.
Theres pretty much no explanation needed for this guy. Ninetales is fast and a good support Pokémon with moves like Will-o-Wisp and Encore that cripple the opponent down and it has access to Healing Wish to heal one of its teammates. Weather Ball was used on Ninetales before i switched to overheat just for more power and an access to a fire move out of sun for some situations. It has tera grass to cripple
with will-o-wisp if the situation demands that.
3.
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 12 HP / 244 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Steam
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Flip Turn
Once again I don't think I need to explain a lot about this Pokémon either - Walking Wake.
This ancestor of
has made itself a staple on almost all sun teams just because of how good it is. Hydro Steams under sun with the choice specs and tera water deal ridiculous damage giving
the power to melt down even resists. This
set runs flip turn so as to not lose momentum instead of the occasionally used dragon pulse. Booster Speed makes
faster than every single Pokémon without a way to boost their own speed providing it with more opportunities to beat down its opposition. Draco Meteor is there for a powerful dragon-STAB while flamethrower is present for coverage (Weather Ball can be used too).
4.
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 124 Def / 132 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psychic
Next up is the latest change of the team - Iron Moth
This futuristic looking volcorona is actually the last change I made to the original team by replacing it with
and there's a few reasons for it :
Number 1 : With Iron moth in the team , toxic spikes became less of a threat than before.
Number 2 : Without Iron moth opposing speed booster
and
would muscle down my team. The only counter was to Terastalize
into a water type and if the option to tera was not available , the team would pretty much take a huge blow before geting rid of them. This Speed Booster moth set is pretty much the normal set apart from the move Psychic to beat down other iron moths faster. With a few boosts from Fiery Dance Iron Moth threatens a lot of Pokémons apart from
and it also helps massively against
which is rising in usage
5.
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
- Draining Kiss
- Nuzzle
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic Noise
Moving on to the next Pokémon and the team's main hazard controller - Hatterene
fills 2 important rolls on this team and those are to help the team against hazards and to help the its teammates switch in for free via Eject Button also blocking any form of pivoting in the process. This
set is basically the pain split set with pain split being replaced with mystical fire to deal good chip to the
and other steel types that want to switch into it (Healing Wish is an option too but I like the niche utility of mystical fire).
can also be used to check
and
.
6.
Ability: Speed Boost
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
Last but not the least, the second star of the team which has the potential to 6-0 a lot of teams - Blaziken.
Blaziken is one of the most threatening sweepers in a meta game where it has access to tera to boost its damage output or to give it resistances .Game freak bestowed
with the most broken ability in existence - Speed Boost. This single-handedly made
a phenomenal threats over the past decade. With a single Swords Dance boost , its damage output becomes ridiculous especially its Flare Blitz under sun and its Close Combat with tera fighting. Unfortunately adamant
at +1 speed fails to outspeed
and
however, that's where Protect utility comes into play, buying
an extra turn or two to outspeed everything. Theres practically no switch-ins to a
at +2 attack and the most viable way to KO it is through priority moves. It also threatens a lot of KOs without Swords Dance boost as well.
also helps out against the normal issues like vs
where it can switch in and immediately KO it or force a tera ( its not optimal to switch either Slither Wing or Walking Wake into a salt cure because of the 25% chip every turn compared to 12% chip of blaziken).

THE THREATS
1.
= Raging Bolt is a huge threat to this sun team due to the lack of
. Apart from sacking
thers like no feasible switch into this thing.
at the maximum can force
to tera and then KO it with Hydro Steam but it all depends on whether or not the tera occurs.
2.For the second threat its actually a team archetype - SAND = A sand archetype MU for sun teams is always a threat.
is super annoying because it can overwrite sun with sandstorm, set up stealth rocks and threaten the team with both Stone Edge and Knock Off. The sand staples like AV
,
,
also make playing vs sand infuriating.
3.Hazard Stacking = Yet again another threat to this sun team is another archetype - Hazard Stacking.Hazard stack teams can abuse the fact that
is the only hazard controller and force hatt switch ins to potentially KO it leaving the team even more vulnerable to hazards. The only way to prevent this is by immediately pressuring the hazards stacks Pokemons like
and
.
And in my games these are the only issues I faced. If any of you viewers do face an issue or have any questions please tell it in this thread and I will definitely address your problems and questions.
PROOF OF PEAK
The Original Team : https://pokepast.es/dafe2d8526d2a90c
This team features a

and is very weak to
and toxic spikes. I decided that it was better to be weak to
when
handled 3 of the other issues.
And lastly I want to thank my friend Disscratch who helped me out with the creation of this rmt.
Hope you guys have fun playing with this team!!Until then signing off.
