Role: Special wallbreakers basically don't exist right now outside of a handful of Ghosts and Combysa, so Woolefant provides a new option for offensive/balance teams to consider running. Offensive Calm Mind sets are entirely unwallable in the current meta outside of Cradily, making Woolefant extremely strong into bulkier teams, but its bad speed tier and litany of weaknesses leave it easily revenged by faster offensive mons or outpaced by pivot-heavy teams. Tangling Hair, however, does give it an out into certain offensive mons, making Woolefant a solid check to Alticombat and Archeops.
Flavor: We already have one mammoth with Eleffigy, so I wanted to lean hard into the "woolly" aspect of this mon's design in order to differentiate it.

Chi Shift: 60 BP Special Fighting, 15 PP, 100% Acc. Swaps all changes to the target's Attack and Special Attack stats.
Role: I wanted to make another fast Ice without outclassing Salazzle, and this is what I landed on. Felice provides a fast, special attacking Ice type that can threaten the Ice resists Salazzle loses to (Drednaw, Lapras), while losing to the ones it beats (Kabutops, Arctobyss, Cradily, etc.). Felice has much more immediate power than Salazzle, with Technician Frost Breath hitting like a truck, forcing teams to run actual Ice resists to beat it. However, those Ice resists check Felice much better than they answer Salazzle, as Salazzle's combination of Nasty Plot and Freeze-Dry beat pretty much every Felice answer in the meta. This will allow Salazzle and Felice to actually be run on the same team, as they beat each other's counterplay pretty effectively, and Felice's worse matchups into actual Ice resists will stop it from outclassing Salazzle completely despite its better overall damage output.
Flavor: Ice cat go prrrr

SLATE 16 - The Beginning of the End (Walking Wake, Gouging Fire, Raging Bolt)
:sv/walking-wake::sv/gouging-fire::sv/raging-bolt:

It's time for the final round of Past Paradoxes! For this slate, we'll be covering the last three Paradox Pokemon, returning them to the state they could have appeared in before being forcibly transported to the present. This will be similar to a fossil rework slate, with everything on the table to be changed, from stats to abilities to moves to typing. There is only one guideline: these Paradox reworks cannot have the ability Protosynthesis. This ability represents the corrupted state they appeared in during the events of Scarlet & Violet and wouldn't exist on an ancient reimagining of the mons. The rules for submission are as follows:
  • You can sub 1 to 3 of the Pokémon chosen in this slate.
  • Make sure to compare your submission to what already exists to help gauge its power and ensure you're not outclassing anything. There has been plenty of playtesting of the current meta, so I highly recommend reading through the assorted metagame discussion posts and getting feedback on your submission in the Discord.
  • Custom Elements are allowed, as long as they have something different from already existing abilities/moves and are relatively simple to code (no custom field effects - we're learning from last gen lol. Also, if you think it's codable but our coder disagrees, then you'd better be prepared to code it yourself if it wins.)
  • Any Pokemon not currently in Generation 9 will instead use its Generation 8 movepool minus dexited moves (aka moves that are unusable in SV).

:sv/gouging-fire:
Name: Combuscobble (Combust + Cobble)

Original Pokemon: Gouging Fire

Typing: Fire/Rock

Abilities: Strong Jaw/Stone Crown
This pokemon's rock type moves use its defense stat instead of attack when calculating damage - like body press

Stats: 74/100/115/76/54/81 (500)

New Moves: Mountain Maw (from chatbats), Rock Slide, Will-O-Wisp, Ice Fang, Jaw Lock, Iron Defense, Bulk Up, Clear Smog
Removed Moves: (all dragon moves except scale shot), Burning Bulwark

Role: Set-Up sweeper with Bulk Up or Iron Defense + Stone Crown. Fire Rock is an alright typing, ground and water are decently common typings, although it does resist more typings than it's weak to - though the typings it resists aren't as common as the one's it's weak to. It has alright stats, with high defense but kinda low special defense and hp. It's also a kinda middle speed tier, maybe could work pretty good with scarf. Strong jaw lets it deal pretty high damage with STAB mountain maw and fire fang, as well as with coverage like thunder fang, ice fang and psychic fangs. Stone Crown I'm not fully sure is balanced, I think iron defense/bulk up with the ability is fine.

Flavor: The large shield on its head is an extremely durable extension of its rock hard skeleton, and it uses it to ram into its foes - dealing high damage. Its teeth, too, are made of hard rock - which helps it rip and rend prey.

:sv/raging bolt:
Name: Nimbusaur (Nimbus + Dinosaur)

Original Pokemon: Raging Bolt

Typing: Electric/Flying

Abilities: Cloud Nine/Lightning Rod (I am considering replacing cloud nine with delta stream)

Stats: 42/49/95/120/79/115 (500)

New Moves: Furious Thunderhead, Tailwind, Hurricane, Air Slash, Surf
Removed Moves: (all dragon moves), Thunderclap, Earthquake, Heavy Slam, Sunny Day
80Bp, Flying, Sp, 90Acc, 8PP, 30% chance to cause paralysis, upon being used for the second time or more on the same pokemon, becomes electric and deals 1.5x damage.

Role: Glass cannon who can also do a tiny bit of speed control utility with tailwind and t-wave, plus can set up with calm mind I guess.

Flavor: In ancient times it floated around atop grey clouds, and was known to bicker with aerodactyl.

:sv/walking wake:
Name: Pristineuro (Pristine + Neuro)

Original Pokemon: Walking Wake

Typing: Water/Psychic

Abilities: Drizzle/Neuroforce

Stats: 94/100/81/40/90/93 (500)

New Moves: Ice Spinner, Psychic, Psyshock, Calm Mind, Psychic Fangs, Scale Shot, Lunge, Pounce, Wave Crash
Removed Moves: Breaking Swipe, Dragon Breath, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Cheer, Hydro-Steam, Scald, (all fire moves)

Role: This pet mod doesn't have many good rain setters (I don't think there's a single mon with drizzle, actually), despite there being some good swift swim mons and a lot of good mons who could work as good rain abusers. After a dragon dance this mon can start firing off powerful psychic fangs and wave crashes.

Flavor: Its mind is extremely large, and it can infuse its psychic strength into its attacks. It can use its psychic strength to harness the weather from the skies themselves, bringing down rain around it.
