Bronzong [QC 2/3] writing

tumblr_ncbffeaoKf1ttdkobo2_400.gif
[OVERVIEW]
  • Pretty good defensive typing w Levitate allows it to switch in to major threats like Landorus-T, Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie
  • Solid defensive stats allow it to reliably set TR at least once
  • Not a slouch offensively due to high BP moves like Gyro Ball and Explosion
  • Faces big competition from Jirachi which has better bulk, access to TR as well as additional support moves like Follow Me and Helping Hand
  • zong has the levitate + bigger offensive presence through high BP moves to compete with it thooo
  • Has no options to hit common Steel-types like Heatran and Aegislash which often carry Substitute to take advantage of that
  • Weaknesses to attacking types like Fire and Dark which are really hard to switch into bc of the power of their users

[SET]
name: Trick Room
move 1: Gyro Ball
move 2: Zen Headbutt / Explosion
move 3: Trick Room
move 4: Protect
item: Safety Goggles / Colbur Berry
ability: Levitate
nature: Brave
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Gyro Ball is strong STAB, works well bc its slow obv
  • ZHB is sort of strong STAB that hits Keldeo and Amoonguss
  • Explosion does decent damage to every mon and allows a free switchin to another mon which allows the full use of Trick Room turns
  • TR sets TR gives u the speed advantage etc etc
  • Protect is a staple stable move in doubles

Set Details
========
  • Max HP Max Atk Brave is used for more damage as it's usually bulky enough to set TR once without additional defensive investment. Recommended spread w/ Explosion
  • Brave > Adamant lowers Speed for max Gyro Ball power + slower for TR
  • 0speed ivs for tr and gyro memes
  • Goggles allows you to set TR on Amoonguss and reliably beat it if using Zen Headbutt
  • Colbur allows you to stomach a single strong Dark-type attack from Pokemon like Hydreigon, Bisharp, and Hoopa-U
  • Alternative spread of 252 HP / 116 Def / 140 SpD Relaxed allows it to tank Hydrei Dark Pulse w/o Colbur and set TR more reliably with the bulk but comes at the cost of hitting like a wet noodle
Usage Tips
========
  • Good lead to set tr!!!!
  • Avoid letting it take too much damage before setting TR as it could be too vulnerable to set it up
  • like use fake out users/redirection to make sure its safe if it is damaged / has stuff out that threatens it
  • Use Explosion to take advantage of TR turns, switch in a ghost-type if you have one to avoid giving up too much momentum/not waste tr turns
  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh set tr?

Team Options
========
  • Fake Out support from Scrafty, Mega Kangaskhan
  • Strong TR attackers like Volcanion and Sylveon
  • Checks to strong Dark-types like Hydreigon and Hoopa-u such as Conkeldurr and Scrafty again -_-
  • Amoonguss is hot bc it redirects attacks for a safe TR
  • Checks to Fire-types like CharY and Heatran such as Gyarados and Rotom-w
  • Ghost-type TR setter like Jellicent to switch into zong's own booms if it using that. not necessary if using zen

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Rock Slide OHKOs Talonflame and does heavy damage to ZardY
  • Skill Swap is fun and steals abilities, works w heatran and levitate (throwback to vgc2013)
  • Sunny Day checks rain teams and provides more firepower to your Fire-types
  • this is literally the extent of its movepool .___.
  • Normal Gem strengthens Explosion
  • Occa Berry allows it to take a strong Fire-type move but its generally worse than Colbur bc you cant do jack back
  • Life Orb gives more damage to your attacks, notably giving it a chance to OHKO Keldeo
  • Safeguard sucks but tree told me to put it on here

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-type Pokemon**: ZardY, Talonflame, Heatran all give it the dick with their STAB and resist Gyro

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Aegislash and Bisharp wall it and dunk it

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Without a Colbur Berry, Bronzong is OHKOd by common Dark-types like Hoopa-U and Hydreigon

**Ghost-type Pokemon**: immune to Explosion, hit it with a strong STAB move. Jellicent resists Gyro and Gengar has Taunt as well as a rlly powerful Shadow Ball

**Taunt**: Stops it from setting TR, Gengar has a super effective STAB to hit it and Thundurus resists Steel :<

  • hi qsns :3
  • [Set Details] Mention that Brave > Adamant powers up Gyro Ball and helps you move first in TR
  • [Usage Tips] "Avoid letting it take too much damage as" great bullet point
    • Watch out for Taunt, and Sleep if no goggles, and use redirection or fake out to set or just attack through it.
  • [Team Options] "Checks to strong Dark-types like Hydreigon and Hoopa-u" such as?
    • Explain why Amoonguss is a good partner
    • Add mentions of what can check Fire-types
  • [Team Options] Ghost-types so that you can click boom
  • [OO] Screens are awful don't mention them
    • Life Orb lets you OHKO Keldeo with ZHB most of the time
    • Safeguard? idk it sounds pretty bad but I've seen it
  • [C&C] Mention Taunt users that are especially threatening (Gengar, Thundurus come to mind)
  • [C&C] Add a **Ghost-type Pokemon** tag, since they're immune to boom and hit Bronzong super effectively (Jelli also resists Gyro, Gengar also has Taunt, etc)
QC 1/3, nice n tidy skeleton

Overview
  • jotaro sucks
  • the way ur overview is structured makes it sound like jirachi is plainly a better bronzong when it comes to trick room setters. even though it kinda is, emphasize the reasoning behind why anyone would want to use bronzong over jirachi as a setter, that reasoning being its relatively strong offensive presence (and levitate, but u already said that.)
  • access to explosion also makes it a nice pick for a trick room setter over jirachi, as explosion provides good momentum (something that every trick room team wants!!!)
Set Details
  • mention that bronzong should always be running 0 speed ivs
Usage Tips
  • bronzong should only bother setting up trick room in situations that favor it. for example, when setting up, it should either be given support by a fake out user, redirection in the form of follow me or rage powder, or set up against two opponents that can't break bronzong.
  • explosion should be used as a momentum grabber so that the most is made of the few trick room turns that you have. that being said, if using explosion, use by switching in a ghost type so that u arent forcing ur teammates to use protect and waste a trick room turn.
Team Options
  • since the only offensive ghost type in trick room in aegislash, and since it stacks every weakness with bronzong, remove the ghost bullet and replace it with the notion that, as bronzong is probably being used only on fullroom, secondary ghost-type trick room setters are mons that can switch into bronzong's explosion.
  • if bronzong isn't using explosion, a ghost type secondary setter can still be used effectively but so can others like porygon 2 and hoopa-u if they fit the team better.
