SM Ubers first uber team 1500's

Hi, this is my first uber team for USUM. I'm mainly an OU player and don't know much about uber and the spreads. this is my team so far, would really appreciate tips for spreads and in general! im at 1500 so far with 36 games played. the team is pretty brain dead, but has some really rough matchups as well (mainly psychic terrain mewtwo-y and deoxys a).

:sm/zygarde-complete:
Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Power Construct
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Thousand Arrows
- Dragon Tail

Seemed like the best tank in the whole tier. Also counters the best pokemon in the tier, so pretty brain dead choice. After power construct he counters pretty much every physical attacker in the tier. Full phys def cuz i dont know what spreads i need to outspeed stuff or live a hit from certain mons.

:sm/blissey:
Blissey @ Shed Shell
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Heal Bell
- Confide
- Toxic

Best specially defensive wall, great against xerneas and others. Shed shell for mega gengar and gothitelle, not sure if leftovers might be better? Curious about that. Full spdef cuz even with full phys def i still cant switch into mega mewtwo y or deoxys attack (2HKO'd by both).

:sm/groudon-primal:
Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Precipice Blades
- Overheat
- Toxic

Best mon in the tier and without groudon i can get 6-0'd by specs kyogre, and have a really hard MU against kyogre primal. Set from smogon, makes me live +2 eq from necroz DM so its a safe switch in to that. I mostly just let this mon die after i get up rocks and a toxic/some dmg on some threat.

:sm/sableye-mega:
Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Fake Out
- Foul Play
- Toxic
- Recover

good against deoxys speed, shuckle and some other leads. But sableye feels pretty lackluster in uber if you ask me, was wondering if there's a better mon for this spot? Its a good ekiller arceus counter tho.

:sm/ho-oh:
Ho-Oh @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 SpD
Impish Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Recover
- Roar
- Defog

Great wall, super strong against xerneas if bliss is weakened (just roar it away after it uses geomancy). Also good against necroz and to get burns on mons. Too bad i need defog support for it.

:sm/arceus-fairy:
Arceus-Fairy @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Judgment
- Recover
- Toxic

Needed an yveltal switch in and defog support for ho-oh. Doesnt seem a better mon for those roles than arceus fairy. Maybe i should give it a Z crystal? because now no mon has a z crystal, but i dont feel like theres room for one.

Threats:

deoxys attack can be pretty scary, cuz nothing can really switch in safely depending on its set.
mewtwo mega y is also a pretty big threat, cuz chansey doesnt wall it if it has psyshock.
Necrozma ultra is really scary too, again cuz it can run a lot of sets and i mostly have to let it kill 1 or 2 pokemon.

Hi, welcome to Smogon! I'm locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide at least 3 lines of descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at Team Showcase to see the level of detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions and I'll be happy to unlock this.

Hey there, mr small pp . I see that you're new to the format, and I wanted to say welcome to Ubers! It's a very monstrous tier, as it gives access to a lot of legendaries which weren't previously accessible on other tiers like OU and UU. While I do think it's a decently synced team, there's definitely some Pokemon and sets that you could change. Ho-Oh isn't as viable in my eyes, and there are amazing options out there like Xerneas, Yveltal, Primal Kyogre, Mega Kangaskhan, Mewtwo, etc. However, this rate will be optimizing your team to not only be strong but also to be equally balanced and more like an Ubers team.

MAJOR CHANGES

:ho-oh: Ho-Oh -> :lugia: Lugia

This switch from Ho-Oh to Lugia I feel is definitely necessary. Considering your main reasons to use it, it just fits better with this team. For starters, Lugia will only take 25% HP damage from Stealth Rocks, compared to Ho-Oh's 50%. It also has a faster base speed if we assume max speed investment on both as a comparison, so you can most likely get rid of hazards on your side with Lugia compared to Ho-Oh. It also has Flying STAB which is just as useful as Fire STAB. Again, this rate is for optimization, so I'll suggest the following set:

Lugia @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aeroblast
- Roost
- Defog
- Whirlwind

Aeroblast is for damaging STAB + revenge killing if the situation arises. Roost functions like Recover as you put in your Ho-Oh set. Defog is still the same, removing hazards from the field, preventing your opponents from chipping damage off of your team. Whirlwind is to prevent setup sweepers like Zygarde, Xerneas, Primal Groudon, and sometimes Necrozma-Dusk-Mane from sweeping the game.

:sableye-mega: Mega Sableye -> :yveltal: Yveltal

Like you said in your RMT, you seemed a little unconfident on Mega Sableye on your team, and I'm here to tell you that, yes, Mega Sableye isn't all that useful. It lacks a lot of offensive reliability, and can only really be used to bounce hazards back, which would then proceed to likely be removed with a hazard removing move. Yveltal on the other hand is, because it can give that offense that Mega Sableye can't. Yveltal is a very high usage mon in Ubers, and it gives opportunity for multiple ways of using it. Now, this team lacks a sweeper Pokemon / Hyper-Offensive way of winning, so this will be fully offensive Yveltal, since I still don't get why you have 4 Pokemon with Toxic. Here's the set:

Yveltal @ Metronome
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Roost
- Sucker Punch

This Yveltal set is a fully offensive, though not a sweeper mon. It features Dark Pulse for STAB against many Psychic types + Primal Groudon. Oblivion Wing is to use against the many Fighting types of Ubers, + it helps gain more health back since you run Metronome. Roost is to heal up in dire situations where Yveltal is more useful. Sucker Punch is for priority if it becomes necessary, which can be useful against things like Deoxys-Speed which you mentioned was one of the threats to your team. Be weary that Deoxys-Speed has Ice Beam, so never risk a move outside of Sucker Punch against one. It also helps out vs. a Mega Mewtwo Y, because of your ability to Sucker Punch it in the face!

MINOR CHANGES
So, now onto the minor changes. This may include moveset changes, item changes, etc.

:zygarde-complete: Rest -> Substitute
This change can prove to be very necessary, because Zygarde being the HP king that it is, can use a substitute to set up on other Pokemon. This will be your primary sweeper that I mentioned earlier that you would need.

:zygarde-complete: Sleep Talk -> Dragon Dance
Dragon Dance and Substitute go hand and hand pretty much. It's common amongst most Zygardes in Ubers, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be. After setting up a Substitute, a Dragon Dance would easily disrupt the game. The only threat I see to this is Xerneas / Arceus-Fairy, which you can just switch Lugia in with.

:zygarde-complete: :leftovers: Leftovers -> Sitrus Berry
Sitrus Berry is key for you to regain health after Power Construct activates. It gives you a huge HP advantage after a possible sweep opportunity against your foes.

:groudon-primal: Toxic -> Rock Polish
Rock Polish could prove to be deadly against your opponent. For starters, a speed buffed Groudon typically also has Swords Dance in the Ubers "meta", so opponents would assume that they have a free switch in to prepare for a +2 Atk +2 speed Primal Groudon. However, with just Rock Polish, you could run the option of the surprise element and just use Precipice Blades / Overheat (whichever one is better in the given scenario). Again, 4 Toxic users is NOT needed. Because of your necessity to send rocks out early in game due to how good they are in Ubers, I put max speed on the optimal set for this Groudon. It also would be really useful vs a Necrozma-Dusk-Mane or an Ultra Necrozma, which you've said has shown to be a threat to your team.

Considering you're new to Ubers but were able to get to 1500+, it's cool to see your viewpoints on the format and stuff. However, your team did lack a decent amount of "power", and the amount of Toxic users you had was pretty alarming to me not gonna lie. Hopefully my suggested changes resolve any problems you previously had. Feel free to ignore this or feel free to not incorporate all the changes I made to your team. It's your team and your way of playing after all. Hope you enjoy Ubers, and good luck in your future games!
