Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl - Release 19th Nov 2021

This is from the guy who posted the first Reddit cover leaks yesterday. Seems like their friend finally gave 'em the goods and the game is now in their possession.

Assuming they won't wimp out... Get ready.
I mean i've been "getting ready" since last night so...

You know for a game that's in people's hands it's taking quite a while to get some of the more anticipated info out

I mean if I had a copy of a game that wasn't out yet I'd be binging that shit overnight and posting pictures of every bush I find.
Flash backs to people getting INCREDIBLY mad at the early HGSS leaker who was just going through the game at their own pace with a beedrill.

I'm ready.

Disappoint me. DISAPPOINT ME! :D

Heh, imagine if I was leaking this game. Status Moves Only on a game where Turtwig doesn't learn Leech Seed until almost Level 30 and Kricketot can't be found during the day. I'd be so good at trolling just by playing how I want to... :)

You know, with as many people as eager to dunk on this game that was advertised as being a faithful remake....did you guys even like the games?

Like, it feels so weird that Pokemon fans are like this, considering when other games like say, Tales of Vesperia or a ffvi game gets remade, people arent bashing it for nothing nee being added. I saw something similar when oras was released and thry only had the battle tower. It just feels super bizzare

People like the games but the problem is when the series is basically the same as its been for the past 10 years it should at least have *additional* content. Gen 8 did the complete opposite and actually started the stripping content route and not even in the 'replacing old with the new' kinda way either, they removed way more old and added very little new, its why pokefans want to bash new projects cause they expect better. Plus the newest entry paints the path to what the future holds... so basically everything flawed is likey to stick especially if it sells anyways.

Gen 4 remake for example, if it truely is 493 pokemon only that alone sets it behind oras's standards, and ORAS actually had updated maps, megas, added gens 4-6 pokemon, soaring, but BDSP atm looks like a reskin with some modernization tweaks to the mechanics. Those who played the originals pretty much just view it as a $60 patch, but that has yet to be fully confirmed we might get surprised if there's some unova stuff in.

I wouldn't say those games didn't get bashed either, I know Resident Evil 2 is cirtically acclaimed but people genuinely spited it for removing some of the more obselote enemies like spiders, plant monsters, moths, the whole little girl segment the original had etc. FFVI remake did get A LOT of rigging into for some bugs and cut music iirc, I didn't really follow it but I def saw complaints despite being uninvested. I'd say in pokemon's case, what is lost is significantly bigger by comparison to other entries especially since those games can do their own thing while pokemon games are more linked to a formula it has to follow for tranfer sake.

No, I don't like Pokémon games.

But I used to. I started with Red and played every release up until SwSh. My enjoyment of the series peaked in XY and has been plummeting since.

However Pokémon nostalgia is strong and I have a lot of great memories with the series. I like Pokémon and hope the series is able to pull out of this downward kid-friendly spiral.

I'll probably not buy Legends since it's just a C- open world game with Pokémon skins. If Legends Arceus was a Tem Tem game with identical gameplay would anyone here care about it?

Meanwhile I'll get BDSP solely for the nostalgia. But as much as I love Pokémon there's only so many sub par overpriced games The Pokémon Company can feed me until I get sick of it.

Meanwhile I can download Renegade Platinum on my phone for free...

See, this is precisely the point I was trying to make when I posted this:

OMGOD WE GOT A TEASER THAT BARELY SHOWS ANYTHING U KNOW WUT THAT MEANS TIME TO ASSUME THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!!!1!!!!ONE!!!!ELEVEN!!!!11!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!ELEVENTYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! #BBND #CANCELMASUDA #WEWONTUNDERSTAND

People. Chill. Stop freaking out over the slightest shit. Learn to not be hardcore pessimists for goddamn once; I for one am sick of it. It’s just gonna be a bog-standard Pokémon game, and I for one actually feel like I’d have fun with it.

And don’t you dare go “LoL cOpIuM” at me, cuz you all need to take off your jade-colored glasses.
I understand that you guys expect better - I for one would be dissapointed if the Meme Team was back - but it really seems like everyone’s chomping at the bit to dogpile these games for things that... really don’t seem like they’d affect too much of anything.

One of the things with remakes is that the value ends up going down if you already have the original game because you could just be playing that instead. So while a remake with very little additional content is fine for any newcomers to the series, it ends up being less attractive to the group of people already heavily invested (for example, enough to be posting on a forum specifically about said series). In that situation, a remake isn't just making sure a game is available to new people (you don't even need remakes for that, just a good process for keeping the original usable on current hardware), it's also about seeing stories/characters/locations people have nostalgia for with modern improvements. Which, from my perspective with BDSP, the modern improvements seem less prevalent than the modern hindrances.

In my case I loved Diamond and I know I'd at the very least like this game, but now that I'm aware of the problems of DP after having them pointed out, I just want the most infamous one fixed. Knowing about a glaring problem instead of being an oblivious kid like I was back then is really going to bother me.

I'm expecting it not not be above my probably low bar, so I'm just going to enjoy seeing how far under the bar it goes... or be sad that I lost my Platinum and not I'm not getting Brilliant Diamond because because of one small reason... :/ I might cave in anyway if they bring the Toxic TM back.

Edit: Nah, Toxic isn't enough to cave in for... Confide too would be tempting so I wouldn't need to ask for help transferring Pokemon from Gen 7 just for that move... That isn't happening, and even if it does, probably not then either.

I love Platinum, strongly dislike DP. So yes, I think my irritation is justified considering they took the far inferior DP as their template for this remake.

Literally if they just took Platinum, improved the speed, threw back in Murkrow and Misdreavus into the regional dex, and added a battle against Charon at the top of Stark Mountain, this could've been the GOAT Pokémon game. So I'm not out for blood I'm just disappointed that they choked what this game could've been.

Yup definitively confirmed fake, just an edit of this. rip
I mean, the obvious folder full of literal porn was kind of a dead giveaway... :psysly:

Besides the obviously bad and unjustifiable design decisions? (The same crew in charge of DP refined it for Plat, with Masuda at the helm. Why didn't they adapt things from the version they improved themselves?)

I guess that people are sick of getting served half-baked, ambitionless games?

Hmm, let me put it a different way: With the other pokemon remakes they tended to add the Gimmick of the Gen, like battle frontier, Megas, etc. This one they advertised and been promoting it to be extremely faithful to the original games, with obvious updated tweaks like type changes, new music, and more. They didnt false advertise anything, they were up front with everything thus far, so I fail to understand the letdown for things they never even hinted to add.

They promoted D/P but a bit better,I expected D/P but a bit better, and thats probably whats gonna happen. But it seems some people expected Platnium but a bit better, which they never have done before. HGSS wasnt based on Crystal, and ORAS wasnt based on Emerald. So i am so confused why people somehow expected Platnium changes all over the place. If anything Platnium stuff will be post game or dlc. Where did the idea even come from?

Battle Frontier and Megas were good because they were popular mechanics added to the game. HGSS, LGFR, and ORAS merged the original games with modernized gameplay and modern graphics. They were literally the original games but with massive upgrades in every area. Even Lets Go Pika / Eevee were arguably better games than Red / Blue.

Meanwhile D/P remakes don't even have Platinum upgrades. People are annoyed because a remake should add something to the game. These games are barely even graphical upgrades. All this could still be forgiven except they cost 60 dollars, which is MORE than D/P originally went for.

Calming if you look at it right.

For me personally, the big issue is that they're being bizarrely inconsistent with what they do and don't carry over from D/P. The original encounter tables and trainer rosters appear to be coming back and they're bringing back single-use TMs, which is being faithful to the original D/P, but they're also keeping the EXP Share and not having an option to turn it off, which isn't faithful to D/P. When they do and don't stick to the "faithful remake" thing appears to be completely arbitrary, and sometimes it looks like they're actively trying to have the worst of both worlds.

Lemme put it this way then. Platinum is D/P but a bit better.

A lot of improvements like a Dex expansion, which did happen, had a lot of mons featured in Platinum, because it makes sense that the improvements would come from the game that is already a refinement of DP.

No one is bashing BDSP for the new things it's doing, people are bashing them because of things like the increasing concern that Flint will pull up with a freaking Drifblim.

awesome gaming

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there were some serious vision conflicts going on amongst the BDSP staff. What we are potentially looking at is a game where we now have a souped-up Underground with nearly the entirety of Gens 1-4 just chucked in there for freely available player use while NPCs are saddled with one-to-one copies of the OG DP rosters aside from movepool updates. These two decisions alone represent such diametrically opposed design philosophies that it's inconceivable to think they were made by the same person
