[OVERVIEW]

Nidoking is one of the most potent offensive threats in RBY NU, wielding the best coverage in the tier as well as a powerful and nearly unique typing which grants it a meaty STAB Earthquake and immunities to both Toxic and Electric-type attacks. These attributes allow it to block Toxic and Thunder Wave for partial trappers such as Charizard, Moltres, and Pinsir. These partial trappers also grant it numerous entry points through pivoting, and Nidoking can maintain offensive momentum when status users threaten them. Its frequent super effective hits and completely unresisted coverage, with both the coveted BlizzBolt and QuakeSlide combinations, makes it extremely threatening as both a mid-game wallbreaker and a late-game sweeper, especially when provided with adequate paralysis support.

Despite this, Nidoking’s typing leaves it susceptible to numerous notable offensive threats such as Mr. Mime's Psychic, Clefable's Blizzard, Blastoise's Surf, and Charizard's Earthquake. All of these Pokemon are common Toxic and Thunder Wave users, making it risky to use Nidoking to defend partial-trapping teammates from status. These weaknesses make it hard for Nidoking to consistently switch in outside of the aforementioned scenarios. Its Speed contributes to this difficulty, leaving it outrun by many Pokemon that threaten it, such as Charizard, Mr. Mime, Venomoth, and Poliwhirl. Nidoking also relies on super effective hits to deal adequate damage, so it struggles with Normal-types such as Clefable and Porygon because it only has the poor Submission to target them.

move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Blizzard
move 4: Rock Slide / Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]

Thunderbolt provides Nidoking coverage against Flying- and Water-types such as Charizard, Blastoise, and Fearow. When paired with Thunderbolt, Blizzard grants Nidoking unresisted coverage with just two moves, hitting Pokemon such as Charizard, Golem, Moltres, Exeggcute, and Dragonair. Rock Slide hits Flying-types like Charizard and Moltres harder than Thunderbolt and can target Pinsir and Venomoth. Finally, since Nidoking often has overlapping coverage in its moves, Substitute can be used to ease prediction versus foes such as Golem. This also allows Nidoking to more reliably fish for paralysis with Thunderbolt.

Nidoking's wide movepool means it has multiple other options. Submission can be used to land an easier 2HKO on Raticate than with Earthquake and 3HKO Clefable. However, the accuracy and recoil damage, due to Nidoking's fragility, make it difficult to afford using. Toxic allows Nidoking to check wrappers such as Charizard, Moltres, Rapidash, Ninetales, and Pinsir, causing them to take more damage than they deal. Fire Blast can target Pinsir and Exeggcute while also having a chance to 2HKO Venomoth. However, Blizzard and Rock Slide are more accurate and give better general coverage. Body Slam gives Nidoking some self-sufficiency, letting it spread paralysis and become even more difficult to switch into. However, it is generally better to pair Nidoking with paralysis spreaders like Mr. Mime, Clefable, and Venomoth. Thunder does the most damage possible versus Water-types such as Blastoise and Seadra, having a chance to 2HKO both of them, but the poor accuracy poses a high risk due to its middling bulk. Counter allows Nidoking to punish moves like Hyper Beam and Body Slam from the likes of Kingler, Pinsir, and Clefable and threaten a KO in return. However, Kingler and Clefable are able to punish Counter attempts with Crabhammer and Blizzard, respectively, making it a risk. Surf can land an OHKO versus Golem while still hitting the abundance of Fire-types in the tier, but Blizzard and Rock Slide generally outclass it due to Surf failing to hit other targets.

Nidoking operates as a powerful offensive Pokemon mid- and late-game, breaking through common Pokemon such as Golem, Kabutops, Mr. Mime, Blastoise, and opposing Nidoking. Nidoking often struggles to reliably get in, meaning Pokemon that allows for more openings make for great teammates. Paralysis support from Mr. Mime and Clefable is beneficial, as it patches up Nidoking’s middling Speed tier, allows it to switch in with more ease, and helps Substitute variants set up and serve as wincons. Early-game paralysis interactions against opposing Mr. Mime and Clefable can be crucial in allowing Nidoking to wallbreak with more ease. Partial trappers such as Charizard, Moltres, Ninetales, Rapidash, and Pinsir allow Nidoking multiple opportunities to enter and break a hole into the opposing team, pivoting with partial-trapping moves while spurring Thunder Wave and Toxic uses, which Nidoking can switch into on its own. However, Nidoking is unable to stand up to Thunder Wave and Toxic users like Mr. Mime, Clefable, and Blastoise, making this role somewhat questionable. Nidoking's immunity to Electric makes it a great partner for Water-types such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Seadra. In return, they provide crucial switch-ins to Ice- and Water-type attacks. Exeggcute makes for a good partner due to checking Mr. Mime, which otherwise overwhelms Nidoking.

Overall, great job covering Nidoking’s strengths!

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoking is one of the best Pokemon in RBY NU. It is one of the hardest Pokemon to switch into in the tier, with its stupendous coverage options and well-rounded offensive stats letting it adequately threaten a major portion of the tier. Its typing not only allows it a to have both a Toxic immunity and an Electric immunity, but also a strong STAB Earthquake that decimates Pokemon such as Arcanine, Ninetales, and even neutral targets such as Mr. Mime. This Its great offensive power is further boosted by access to Rock Slide, meaning that it can hit Pokemon immune to Earthquake, such as Charizard, Moltres, and Fearow super effectively as well. Nidoking’s Speed, while not particularly amazing, isn’t bad, is serviceable enough outspeeding notable Pokemon such as Blastoise and Kabutops. This makes it extremely threatening as both a mid-game breaker and a late-game sweeper, being incredibly which makes it especially hard to switch into with paralysis support.

Despite this, Nidoking’s typing, while providing solid offensive prowess, considerably lacks in defensive utility. Poison and Ground are some of the worst defensive types in the tier, making it weak to common attacks such as Blastoise and Poliwhirl’s Surf and Mr. Mime’s Psychic. Because of this, Nidoking hardly finds openings to come in due to its weaknesses to the aforementioned moves. Its Speed, although not awful, still misses out on threats such as Mr. Mime and Poliwhirl. Add something about Nidoking’s merely okay bulk - it will take massive damage from Psychics and Surfs. Could also add on how Body Slam, Stun Spore, or Glare paralysis also cripples it from breaking/sweeping. Nonetheless, Nidoking still occupies a great niche and is one of the most threatening Pokemon in the tier.

[SET COMMENTS]

Nidoking’s remarkable coverage and good offensive stats let it act as a powerful breaker, capable of breaking through many common Pokemon such as Mr. Mime, Blastoise, and Charizard. Already covered in opening paragraphs and kinda redundant here IMO Thunderbolt provides Nidoking coverage against Flying- and Water-types such as Charizard, Fearow, and Blastoise. Blizzard, when paired with Thunderbolt, grants Nidoking unresisted coverage with just two moves, hitting Pokemon such as Dragonair and Exeggcute. Fire Blast can be used over Blizzard to hit Pinsir super effectively while still maintaining super effective damage on Exeggcute. Rock Slide hits Flying-types like Charizard and Moltres harder than Thunderbolt and can target Pinsir on non-Fire Blast variants. Body Slam gives Nidoking some self-sufficiency, letting it spread paralysis and become even more difficult to switch into. Finally, since Nidoking often has overlapping coverage in its moves, Substitute can be used, since Nidoking often has overlapping coverage in its moves, and eases to ease prediction versus opponents such as Mr. Mime.

Nidoking's customizable movepool means it has multiple other options. Submission can be used to land an easier 2HKO on Raticate and 3HKOs Wigglytuff, Clefable, and Porygon. Note the inaccuracy + recoil Toxic allows Nidoking to check Wrappers such as Charizard, Moltres, Rapidash, Ninetales, and Pinsir. Thunder does the most damage possible versus Water-types such as Blastoise and Seadra, but its poor accuracy leaves it very susceptible if it misses due to its middling bulk. Counter allows Nidoking to punish Hyper Beam maybe also add something on Body Slam users like Clefable? from the likes of Kingler and Pinsir and threaten a KO. Surf can land an OHKO versus Golem but is generally outclassed by Blizzard and Rock Slide due to its lack of utility compared to them the move failing to cover other targets.

Nidoking operates as a powerful offensive Pokemon in the mid-to late-game, breaking through common Pokemon such as Golem, Kabutops, Mr. Mime, Blastoise, and opposing Nidoking. Nidoking often struggles to find reliable ways to get in, meaning Pokemon that allow for more openings for Nidoking make for great teammates. Partial trapping users such as Charizard, Moltres, Ninetales, Rapidash, and Pinsir allow Nidoking multiple opportunities to enter and break a hole into the opposing team. Paralysis support from Mr. Mime and Electrode is also beneficial, as it somewhat helps Nidoking's Speed issues patches up Nidoking’s middling speed tier.

Hey! I'm here with some feedback, it's not for the whole analysis yet but it's a start. The overview so far needs an overhaul anyways (most of it was conciseness and fluff, and after condensing it its pretty short), and after these changes are implemented some elaboration may be in order. Think about going into detail on its positives more, especially in regards to which mons its checking (Electrode!!), as well as in the negatives where you should elaborate on how its low speed and typing can leave it locked out in some endgames (you ever played a game of NU where Nidoking sat in the back and couldn't do jack shit against the Moltres and/or Charizard and Mr. Mime prancing about?) Some food for thought.

Talk to me if you have any issues implementing what I bring up. This analysis could use with quite a bit of fleshing out. You have its identity down but it's not quite nuanced. I do strongly recommend coming to me before marking it up, considering I'm asking for pretty significant changes.

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoking is one of the most potent offensive threats in RBY NU, wielding the best coverage in the tier as well as a powerful typing that grants it both a meaty STAB Earthquake as well as a Toxic immunity and immunities to Toxic and Electric-type attacks at once, a trait shared only with Nidoqueen. Its great offensive power is further boosted by access to completely unresisted coverage on both the physical and special ends of the spectrum, (It's a binary, not a spectrum, as there are two poles and no inbetween) having both the coveted "BlizzBolt" and "QuakeSlide" combinations. This makes it extremely threatening as both a mid-game breaker and a late-game sweeper, especially when provided with adequate paralysis support.

Note the support Nidoking brings to partial trapping users, it's immune to both of the most common status moves that cripple it: Toxic and Thunder Wave. This is incredibly important as it gives Nidoking a shockingly large amount of entry points, defending those wrappers while not losing any offensive momentum at all. It's far better than switching in a paralyzed Pokemon as that has to take two potential hits to attack 75% of the time, while Nidoking can switch in, maybe outspeed, and always get that attack unless something ridiculous happens. See what I mean? This is what Nidoking's typing is for.

Despite this, Nidoking’s typing, while providing solid offensive prowess and unique defensive utility, leaves it susceptible to numerous notable offensive threats such as Blastoise's Surf, Charizard's Earthquake, Poliwhirl's Hydro Pump, and Mr. Mime's Psychic. These weaknesses make it hard for Nidoking to consistently switch-in outside of the aforementioned scenarios. (RH) Its Speed contributes to this, leaving it outrun by many of the aforementioned (out of the 3 examples, 2 qualified, which makes this a bit odd; let's expand on it instead) Pokemon that threaten it, such as Charizard, Mr. Mime, and Venomoth.

Go over Nidoking's damage output, as it often hinges on those super effective hits to actually be adequate. It sounds strange, doesn't it? But it's true: 3HKOing Clefable with Earthquake is a roll and Porygon can Recover stall Earthquake. Thus, Normal-types, which have their lack of resistances frowned upon normally, have it become a strength against Nidoking. If you're beyond salvation you can run Submission but please for the love of all things holy don't actually run Submission.

Finally, since Nidoking often has overlapping coverage in its moves, Substitute can be used, (RC) to ease prediction versus opponents foes such as Mr. Mime. (Is Mr. Mime the best example? It's faster and will probably just use Psychic. In my opinion, it's better against slower Pokemon, like Golem. Plus, you can use it to fish for full paralysis against, well, paralysed Pokemon, which I'd wager is the biggest use the move has and is largely why we use it. Give this move some more love!)

Nidoking's customizable movepool means it has multiple other options. (alright, what are we replacing? 4th slot? 3rd? give us a hand here!) Submission can be used to land an easier 2HKO on Raticate (compared to what?) and 3HKOes Wigglytuff, Clefable, and Porygon. However, its accuracy issues and recoil damage further make Nidoking’s middling defenses an issue. (consider rewording; I'd go with something like "however, the accuracy and recoil damage, due to Nidoking's defensive fragility, make it difficult to afford using", with maybe tweaks to the end of the sentence, you catch my drift?) Toxic allows Nidoking to check Wrappers such as Charizard, Moltres, Rapidash, Ninetales, and Pinsir, causing them to take more damage than they deal. Thunder does the most damage possible versus Water-types such as Blastoise and Seadra, but its poor accuracy leaves it very susceptible if it misses due to its middling bulk. Paralysis support from Mr. Mime and Electrode is also beneficial, as it patches up Nidoking’s middling Speed tier and helps Substitute variants set up as a win condition. (surely this can be expanded on further? water-types love the electric immunity, for one, and teams threatened by electrode adore nidoking's presence. hell, pokemon that patch up nidoking's defensive typing are near-mandatory for it to work and they're not really noted here)

(cite the calcs that let people justify it. if there aren't any, specify such and take the angle of discouraging it.) Counter allows Nidoking to punish moves like Hyper Beam and Body Slam from the likes of Kingler, Pinsir, and Clefable and threaten a KO in return. Surf can land an OHKO versus Golem while still hitting the abundance of Fire-types in the tier, but is generally outclassed by Blizzard and Rock Slide due to the move failing to hit other targets.

Nidoking operates as a powerful offensive Pokemon in the mid- to late-game, breaking through (roll credits) common Pokemon such as Golem, Kabutops, Mr. Mime, Blastoise, and opposing Nidoking. Nidoking often struggles to find reliable ways to get in, meaning Pokemon that allow for more openings for Nidoking make for great teammates. Partial trapping users such as Charizard, Moltres, Ninetales, Rapidash, and Pinsir allow Nidoking multiple opportunities to enter and break a hole into the opposing team, as they can pivot into it through their respective moves while drawing Thunder Wave and Toxic uses that Nidoking can switch into on its own.

I am super stronk >:)

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoking is one of the most potent offensive threats in RBY NU, wielding the best coverage in the tier as well as a powerful typing that grants it a meaty STAB Earthquake and immunities to both Toxic and Electric-type attacks at once, a trait shared only with Nidoqueen. These attributes allow it to block Toxic and Thunder Wave for partial trapping users such as Charizard, Moltres, and Pinsir See Comment 1. This grants it numerous entry points and allows the aforementioned partial trapping users to maintain offensive momentum while defending them from the aforementioned moves. Its great offensive power is further boosted by access to completely unresisted coverage (both physically and especially specially See Comment 2), with both the coveted BlizzBolt and QuakeSlide combinations. This makes it extremely threatening as both a mid-game breaker and a late-game sweeper, especially when provided with adequate paralysis support that lets it attack at least twice.

1. It should be noted that this entry point is a risk due to the fact that both Mime/Clef the two main Twavers in the tier both beat King 1v1 and Nidoking hates switching into Fire Blast from Fires and Surf from Blastoise, the main toxic users. Its defensive utility can be used as a read or entry when unrevealed.

2. Honestly you can probably remove everything in the parentheses

Despite this, Nidoking’s typing, while providing solid offensive prowess and unique defensive utility, leaves it susceptible to numerous notable offensive threats such as Blastoise's Surf, Charizard's Earthquake, Poliwhirl's Hydro Pump Clefable's Blizzard Comment 3, and Mr. Mime's Psychic. These weaknesses make it hard for Nidoking to consistently switch in outside of the aforementioned scenarios. Its Speed contributes to this, leaving it to outrun by many Pokemon that threaten it, such as Charizard, Mr. Mime, and Venomoth Comment 4. Nidoking also relies on super effective hits to deal adequate damage, meaning that it also struggles with Normal-types such as Clefable and Porygon due to their lack of weaknesses.

3. Clefable Blizzard is a more common 1v1 tool vs Nidoking, probably goes Mimes Psychic, Clef Blizzard, Charizard EQ, Whirl doesnt always have pump more common is surf since youd rather not miss on your brief amne turns.

4. Poliwhirl should be mentioned here, specifically that Nidoking can be used as an entry for getting off sleep in mid/late by Poliwhirl/Venomoth.

[SET]
name: Mixed Attacker
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Blizzard / Fire Blast
move 4: Rock Slide / Body Slam / Substitute

5. These options are just bad and should be placed in other options, Blizzard is mandatory on King since it allows you to get the guaranteed 2HKO on Golem with EQ/Blizzard where double low roll EQ doesnt 2HKO. Fire Blast doesn't hit Egg any harder than Blizzard and is less accurate. It also has like a 20% chance to 2HKO Venomoth due to fire blast accuracy being trash. Hitting Pinsir doesn't matter too much since you'll always do enough damage with Rock Slide. Slam is a waste of a slot since you just run double para with king with Clef/Mime to spread, you'd far rather have rock slide for Zard/Moltres so in a pinch you can trade with them. All what I said here applies below. Id probably mention these in other options.

[SET COMMENTS]

Thunderbolt provides Nidoking coverage against Flying- and Water-types such as Charizard, Fearow, and Blastoise Comment 6. When paired with Thunderbolt, Blizzard grants Nidoking unresisted coverage with just two moves, hitting Pokemon such as Dragonair and Exeggcute Comment 6. Fire Blast can be used over Blizzard to hit Pinsir and Venomoth super effectively while still maintaining super effective damage on Exeggcute. Rock Slide hits Flying-types like Charizard and Moltres harder than Thunderbolt and can target Pinsir and Venomoth on non-Fire Blast variants. Body Slam gives Nidoking some self-sufficiency, letting it spread paralysis and become even more difficult to switch into. Finally, since Nidoking often has overlapping coverage in its moves, Substitute can be used to ease prediction versus foes such as Golem. This also allows Nidoking to more reliably fish for paralysis with Thunderbolt.

6. Pop these in order of Viability, ie. Charizard, Blastoise, Fearow. For Blizzard Golem, Egg and then Dragonair. It is also good vs. Charizard and Moltres if no Rock Slide since it does more damage than Tbolt. You should just talk about what EQ is good for in the tier, mainly that it hits really hard as a neutral move which is part the reason its better than slam.

Nidoking's customizable movepool means it has multiple other options. Submission can be used to land an easier 2HKO on Raticate compared to Earthquake and 3HKOes Wigglytuff, Clefable, and Porygon Comment 7. However, the accuracy and recoil damage, due to Nidoking's defensive fragility, make it difficult to afford using. Toxic allows Nidoking to check Wrappers such as Charizard, Moltres, Rapidash, Ninetales, and Pinsir, causing them to take more damage than they deal. Thunder does the most damage possible versus Water-types such as Blastoise and Seadra, having a chance to land a 2HKO on both of them, but its poor accuracy leaves it very susceptible if it misses due to its middling bulk. Counter allows Nidoking to punish moves like Hyper Beam and Body Slam from the likes of Kingler, Pinsir, and Clefable and threaten a KO in return Comment 8. Surf can land an OHKO versus Golem while still hitting the abundance of Fire-types in the tier, but Blizzard and Rock Slide generally outclassed it due to the move failing to hit other targets.

7. EQ already 3HKOs Wiggly and Porygon

8. Clefable in most cases will use Blizzard, Kingler will use Crabhammer so using counter is bad since you wont get it off vs. Body Slam.

Nidoking operates as a powerful offensive Pokemon in the mid-to late-game, breaking through common Pokemon such as Golem, Kabutops, Mr. Mime, Blastoise, and opposing Nidoking Comment 9. Nidoking often struggles to find reliable ways to get in, meaning Pokemon that allow for more openings make for great teammates. Partial trapping users such as Charizard, Moltres, Ninetales, Rapidash, and Pinsir allow Nidoking multiple opportunities to enter and break a hole into the opposing team, as they can pivot into it through their respective moves while drawing Thunder Wave and Toxic uses that Nidoking can switch into on its own Comment 10. Paralysis support from Mr. Mime and Electrode is also beneficial Comment 11, as it patches up Nidoking’s middling Speed tier and helps Substitute variants set up as a win condition. Nidoking's immunity to Electric-types makes it a great partner for Water-type such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Seadra. In return, they provide crucial switch ins to Ice- and Water-type attacks Comment 12.

9. Generally it requires paralysis to go to its full potential, stuff like trading clef early, mime twave trade allows Nidoking to become very threatening.

10. Nidoking cant really support these things well because it loses to all the twave users except porygon so they just attack on Nidoking, especially it cant switch into twave mime since psychic forces it out and theres no resist except mime. It is better when the opponent is already paralysed.

11. Electrode is unfortunately just bad, the best support for king is mime/clef.

12. Id mention Egg here since its one of the few good switchins to Mime who can otherwise wreck havoc when its allowed to click vs king.
