[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 3 onward

**Price range**: 12-14 points

**Overview**: Heatran is a solid glue Pokemon in Draft, boasting great defensive stats that allow it to check many opposing threats and respectable offensive stats that threaten opposing teams. It is a very difficult Pokemon to safely switch into, and its defensive profile helps it find many opportunities to come in and fire off attacks. These factors make Heatran a very difficult Pokemon to handle for many teams. Heatran also functions as a useful stallbreaker thanks to its ability to trap foes with Magma Storm. Unfortunately, a Pokemon with this many upsides also had some pretty notable downsides, the most notable of which is Heatran's weakness to Ground- and Fighting-type moves, which many Pokemon have access too.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Offensive**: Heatran's strong STAB moves and high Special Attack allow it to be a highly effective offensive threat. Because it's very hard to switch into as well as having enough coverage to at least weaken Pokemon that resist its STAB moves, Heatran finds ways to make an impact whenever it's on the field. The combination of Magma Storm and almost any super effective coverage move can KO many opposing Pokemon.

**Tank**: Heatran's great typing, Special Attack, and utility movepool make it a great tank. Its naturally high defenses and HP make it difficult to KO, and Magma Storm keeps Heatran from becoming too passive. It can also repeatedly find opportunities to set Stealth Rock throughout a game to help weaken foes even more.

**Stallbreaker**: When using Magma Storm in combination with Taunt, Heatran can trap and eliminate almost any opposing Pokemon without a pivoting move. After using Taunt to deny recovery, Heatran is free to throw off attacks while the foe is unable to escape. By eliminating specific Pokemon from the opponent's team, you allow your sweepers and cleaners to have a much easier time finishing games.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Magma Storm, Flash Cannon, Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Overheat, Fire Blast, Heavy Slam, Heat Crash

**Setup moves**: Flame Charge, Iron Defense

**Utility moves**: Stealth Rock, Taunt, Will-O-Wisp, Protect, Substitute

**Coverage**: Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, Scorching Sands, Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Earthquake, Body Press

Niche Moves
========
**Solar Beam**: The combination of Power Herb and Solar Beam can be used to pick off pesky Ground- and Water-types that often cause Heatran problems. Use with caution, however, as this strategy is popular enough that many players will scout for this, and once Heatran has used its Power Herb, it has a dead moveslot.

**Steel Beam**: Steel Beam can be used on Choice item sets to pick up KOs it cannot with its weaker Steel-type moves.

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Heatran will likely be on the field for many turns, making Leftovers slightly superior to Heavy-Duty Boots in many cases. Protect can also be utilized to maximize the recovery gained from Leftovers; however, if your opponent catches on, you could give them free turns, so repeatedly using Protect is not a sound strategy.

**Resistance Berry**: Resistance Berries can be a great surprise factor, allowing Heatran to live a hit and KO something it otherwise wouldn't be able to or scout important moveset information.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots should be used when you plan on dealing with many entry hazards or are going to be switching Heatran in and out frequently, not giving it time to recover with Leftovers.

**Air Balloon** Negating its biggest weakness, Ground-type moves, Air Balloon allows Heatran to wall other Heatran in a mirror match as well as switch in more safely to Pokemon likely to carry Earthquake.

**Choice Specs**: While holding Choice Specs, Heatran is very difficult to switch into. Choice Specs also allows Heatran to make better use of its coverage and pickup KOs where other sets would not.

Niche Items
========
**Damage-boosting items**: Items like Charcoal and Metal Coat can be useful when you need Heatran to hit certain damage thresholds but also value the ability to change moves. However, these items don't afford Heatran the longevity or immediate breaking power that other items do.

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet and Flame Body pair nicely together and can especially punish teams that are repeatedly using Knock Off, providing extra damage on foes while also making them risk being burned each time they make contact with Heatran.

**Choice Scarf**: Using Choice Scarf allows Heatran to escape some of the shortcomings of its awkward Speed tier and decently clean late-game. It can also be a solid revenge killer, catching opponents by surprise.

Tera
========
Heatran is a solid Tera user that is capable of turning matchups around with a well-timed Tera to resist a super effective hit; however, as the main Tera user in your draft, Heatran can feel a bit lackluster. Many times, Heatran gets value out of Tera by flipping specific type matchups, such as using Tera Grass to beat Water- and Ground-types both offensively or defensively. It can also use Tera Flying to escape damage from Ground-type moves entirely. You can also use a number of offensive Tera types like Tera Fairy and Ghost to gain access to coverage that it does not normally have . Heatran likes to make use of Terastallization in many matchups, so when considering a Tera partner to pair with Heatran, look for something that can function well—even when not using Terastallization.

Draft Strategy
========
Heatran can do many things for a draft despite having an awkward Speed tier and annoying weaknesses. The best thing for Heatran in a draft is having solid role compression so it is not forced into specific roles but can fit into the role it performs best against an opponent's team. If you are planning on drafting Heatran, make sure you are thinking about how it will help the Pokemon you draft before it as well as whether the Pokemon you draft before it help Heatran.

**Flying- and Grass-types**: Heatran only has 3 weaknesses—Ground, Water, and Fighting. This makes Grass- and Flying-types like Ogerpon-W, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos great partners, as they both resist two of the three types Heatran is weak to. This helps Heatran come in and out more throughout a game, and they can also KO Pokemon that Heatran can have a hard time dealing with by itself.

**Strong cleaners**: Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate very bulky foes means it pairs well with strong late-game cleaners that may not have the raw stats to wallbreak but can excel when an opposing team has been weakened or the bulkier walls have been eliminated. Pokemon like Enamorus, Latios, and Greninja, which can have trouble breaking through bulkier Pokemon and Steel-types, are especially appreciative of Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate foes.

**Pokemon that threaten Water-types**: Water-types are some of the few Pokemon that can reliably switch into Heatran's attacks, so Pokemon like Raging Bolt and Rillaboom, which can effectively eliminate those threats, are effective partners for Heatran.

Checks and Counters
========
**Ground-type moves**: Having a 4x weakness is never fun for a Pokemon, but Heatran gets a particularly short end of the stick by being 4x weak to Ground. Because Earthquake is such a widely distributed move, almost any Pokemon can find coverage for Heatran—even Pokemon that usually are invested in Special Attack like Galarian Slowking can run Earthquake just to beat Heatran.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types can effectively pivot into Heatran, and they can be even more annoying if they have a way to escape Magma Storm. Having Pokemon that can both effectively switch into these Pokemon as well as threaten them out is vital for supporting Heatran.

**Fast wallbreakers**: While Heatran can effectively survive a lot of attacks from stronger Pokemon that outspeed it, it can be difficult to safely switch into their attacks over the course of the game because of its lack of reliable recovery.

**Draft order**: Late second to third round Late round 3 onwards

**Price range**: 12-14 points

**Overview**: Heatran is one of the best glue mons in the format boasting great defensive stats allowing it to wall many opposing threats and well as respectable offensive stats to threaten opposing teams. this feels a little too positive, its a good glue mon but best feels like ur overselling it. also this sentence doesnt read correctly, is the and meant to be something else?In addition to these already valuable characteristics Heatran is also one of the single best trappers in the meta game with its signature move Magma Storm. just delete this line, its becoming too much like ur reciting from the move dexUnfortunately a mon with this many upsides also had some pretty notable downsides, the most notable of which it Heatran's weakness to Fighting- and Ground-type moves which many Pokemon have access too. is "which it" meant to be "which is"? this sentence is full of grammatical errors, can you please fix this It also has a relatively low hp stat so is generally weak to moves of the defense stat it is not invested in. this isnt true, 91hp is more than fine for a bulky attacker/tank, delete the sentence entirely. heatrans incredibly hard to switch in to and youve not mentioned that at all

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wall**: Heatrans stats, typing, and abilities allow it to be one of the best defensive mons in draft. again, ur overselling what this does, its okay but its not one of the best Utilizing these characteristics Heatran can dispose of many opposing offensive threats, from being physically defensive with Flame Body and Wil-O-Wisp to cripple physical mons, or fully specially defensive taking on many common Psychic- and Fairy-types Heatran can to it all. delete the red stuff, this should be the bottom set

**Offensive**: Heatran can make great use of Choice Specs of Scarf to punch holes in opposing with its respectable base 130 Special Attack. When being used this way Heatran usually wants to be making use of its high base power Fire-type moves so teammates being able to deal with water and dragon types is a must. rename this to wallbreaker, please read through this and correct ur sentences, i genuinely cannot understand what ur tryna say here chief. make this set one

**Trapper/Stallbreaker**: Heatran's signature move Magma Storm is the best trapping move in the game. With 100 base power and 12.5% damage per turn it can easily wear down even the fattest walls. Combined with Taunt and proper coverage moves Heatran is a very effective sniper able to pick off specific Pokemon on the opposing team and still be useful later in the game. you dont need to explain what magma storm does, delete the first two sentences and explain how magma storm + taunt allows tran to both remove defensive centrepieces from the game, and that this can help its teammates

**Bulky Pivot**: Heatran can also fall somewhere in between all of these sets which is one of its biggest strengths. Many sets are neither fully comitted to offense or defens but a mix of the two allwing heatran to dish out damage while living hits a being a nusance to opposing teams turn after turn.

no set here mentions rocks tran, which is one of its most commonly used moves - id delete the bulky pivot set and make the wall set a more generalist support one, heatrans just not cut out to be a long term wall, possibly call it a tank

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**:Magma Storm, Flash Cannon, Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Overheat, Fire Blast add heavy slam and heat crash

**Setup moves**: add flame charge and iron defense

**Utility moves**:Stealth Rock, Taunt, Wil-O-Wisp, Protect, add substitute

**Coverage**: Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, Schorching Sands its Scorching, also add rock slide, stone edge, earthquake, body press

Niche Moves
========
**Solar Beam**: The combination of Power Herb and Solar Beam can be used to pick off pesky Ground- and Water-types than often cause Heatran problems. Use with caution however as this strategy is popular enough that many players will scout for this and once you have used your Power Herb you have a dead move slot. once again, make sure these sentences are coherent, should be that over than after Water-types

add steel beam, can be used on specs/scarf as way to net kills it otherwise cannot achieve/revenge kill pokemon it cannot otherwise beat

**Burning Jealousy**: Burning Jealousy is usually nor preferd over the other more powerful stab options Heatran has access too, but in select cases can save a moveslot by being able to reliably burn setup threats while also doing damage. remove this, ur never using it

**Physical Coverage**: While never really advised in select cases on trapping sets when aiming to trap special walls Heatran's physical moves may do more damage that special moves even with the large base stat difference. again remove this point, list the coverage/stabs in common moves

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Heatran will likely be on the field many turns making leftovers slightly superior to Heavy Duty Boots in many cases. Protect can also be utalized to maximize recovery gained from Leftovers, but beware becoming to predictable and giving opponents free turns to setup. this last part doesn't make sense, should be too not to

**Choice Specs/Scarf**: These are used to maximize the offensive potential of Heatran and allow it to deal as much damage as possible as fast as possible. this isnt simultaneously true, specs is a wallbreaker, its aim is to allow ur cleaners to come in late game and win. scarf should be its own point, realistically under niche, saying that it can be used to revenge kill other threats, and in rare circumstances, sweep

**Heavy Duty Boots**: Heavy Duty Boots should be used when you plan on dealing with many MANY hazards or are going to be switching Heatan around a lot not giving it time to recover with leftovers. move this above choice items, its Heatran

add air balloon, allows it to comfortably switch in on ground types, while also being able to wall a majority of opposing heatran in mirror matchups

Niche Items
========
**Resistance Berries**: Resistance berries can be a great suprise factor allwoing heatran to live a hit and KO something it otherwise wouldn't be able to, or scout important moveset information. move these to common, shuca tran is one of its most common sets

**Charcoal/Metal Coat**: Usually these type boosting itmes are not as useful as recovery from leftovers or more immediate damage from Choice Specs but they can be useful when you need to hit certain damage thresholds but also value the abilkity to change moves. change this to attack boosting items, and then list out examples in the explanation eg LO, charcoal, metal coat

add helmet, works well with flame body, especially into pokemon that spam knock off

Tera
========
Heatran is a solid user of tera being able to flip matchups on their head with a well timed tera to resist a supereffective hit, however as the main Tera abuser in your draft heatran can feel a bit lackluster. Many games Heatran gets value out of only a single turn when using tera. Additionally later in the game its new type could even create problems because its primary typing has many resistances that are lost after Terastalizing. Heatran should be something you aim to pair with another threatening user of Terastalization forcing you opponent to account for not only a defensive user like Heatran but also an offensive partner it is paired with. few key issues here, mention how heatran can benefit from tera both offensively and defensively, whether that be gaining new coverage or being able to gain new resistances. give example types for both. furthermore, we write all out analyses assuming that the reader is following the seasonal format. you can thus mention that heatran most likely ends up being paired with another mid tier tera captain which can lead to it feeling even more underwhelming

Draft Strategy
========
Heatran can do it all in your draft and that is what makes it so valuable. no it cant, again, stop overselling heatran, its held back by the crippling ground weakness and the mediocre speed tier The best thing for a Heatran draft is to have redundancy so it can do the role that suits it best in a given matchup and not have to fill the same role every week because it is the only mon on your draft that can do it. this has a very different meaning to what you intended it to mean. you dont want redundancies in ur draft, nor should you encourage it, what you want is solid role compression that can alleviate some of the pressure off each of heatrans roles, that isnt redundant, it just means you have options Heatran can almost always make progress when it is on the field so maximizing the time it can be in play chipping opponents and taking hits for teammates is important. this section doesnt highlight heatrans strengths, nor the weaknesses it needs patched, id possibly start form scratch, using the uploaded analyses as references, iron treads is a good example, you can take that and be more reflective of the fact that heatran isnt an r2 pick and is thus more flawed. you also want to mention that heatran will be paired with other picks prior to it, it should be able to support them, so ur following lines should reflect which mons heatran is best able to be paired with

**Wish Passers**: One of Heatran's biggest drawbacks is its lack of reliable recovery. Havign a wish passer can allow heatran to switch in and out many many times through out a game and continue to make progress. wish passing is not reliable in any generation, let alone a fast paced gen like SV, while its nice to have, it isnt worth putting into the dex

**Flying- and Grass-types**: Heatran only has 3 weaknesses Ground-, Water, and Fighting-type moves. This makes Grass- and Flying-types great partners as they both resist 2/3 of the types heatran is weak to. This helps Heatran come in and out mroe throughout a game and they can also KO Pokemon that heatran can have a hard time dealing with by itself. logical but write some examples into this pls. the last sentence feels like its saying nothing, it doesnt lead on from the two sentences prior. just use this to suggest good defensive partners for heatran

**Strong Cleaners**: Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate even very bulky opponents mean it pairs great with strong late game cleaners that may not have the raw stats to wallbreak but can excell when an oppoeing team has been weakened or the big walls have been eliminated. give some examples, which cleaners is heatran able to support well?

add a section on strong water killers, give a few examples

Checks and Counters
========
**Ground-type moves**: Having a 4x weakness is never fun for a mon but Heatran gets a particulary short end of the stick being 4x weak to ground types. Because Earthquake is such a widely distributed move almost any mon can find coverage for Heatran even Pokemon who usually are invested in Special Attack like Galarian Slowking can run Earthquake just to beat Heatran.

**Predictions/Getting Outplayed**: While every mon is weak in some way to this Heatran can feel particularly threatened by preditions. Because Heatran has so many resistances and switches into so many moves safely many times that saftey can lead to it getting KO'ed by a suprise coverage move. It is important to keep in mind how useful Heatran is and how many times you have switched Heatran in to a mon that may have coverage for it. At the very least make sure to have a plan for if an opponent predicts a Heatran switch to avoid losing to much in one turn. this isnt useful, you can make this argument for a lot of pokemon. give some examples specific to heatran. some roles that come to mind are bulky water types that can pivot in safely on the magma storm, faster wallbreakers due to no reliable recovery

(repeat as necessary) remove this

Not giving a QC yet, this needs to see a lot of changes. Its littered with structural errors which make it hard to understand your points. I'd also recommend turning on spellcheck. Please also read through some of the uploaded analyses here to understand what I mean by not needing to reference what moves do, it'll also help you with structuring your analysis.

Thanks I’ll take a good look at it tomorrow. I knew sections didn’t feel right so seeing what someone else thinks has helped me figure some stuff out

[overview]
**Draft order**: Third round onwards Round 3 onwards - the phrasing is to be standard with other analyses

**Price range**: 12-14 Points points, lowercase

**Overview**: Heatran is a solid glue mons in the format boasting great defensive stats allowing it to check many opposing threats and as well as respectable offensive stats to threaten opposing teams. These factors together make Heatran a very difficult mon to switch into. did mention this at the end of the paragraph last time, heatran's incredibly hard to switch into and youve still not addressed this. also, these two sentences dont logically connect to each other, having great defensive stats + respectable offenses doesnt equate being hard to switch into, id prolly reword the first to emphasise its 130 spa stat and that it has good to bulk to go with that Heatran also functions as a useful stallbreaker thanks to its ability to trap opponents with Magma Storm. Unfortunately a mon with this many upsides also had some pretty notable downsides, the most notable of which is Heatran's weakness to Fighting- and Ground-type moves which many Pokemon have access too. put ground moves first, they're the thing that hold heatran back the most, fighting is just another unfortunate weakness but not enough to cripple it

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Offensive**: Heatran's bulk and offensive stats allow it to a highly effective offensive threat. would reword this to say "Heatran's strong STAB moves, and high Special Attack stat allow it to be a highly effective offensive threat". Being very hard to switch into as well as having enough coverage to at least chip Pokemon that resist its stab moves Heatran finds ways to make impact the game whenever its on the field. id reword this to emphasise that Magma Storm into any SE coverage move tends to be able pressure most switchins Because it forces so many switches Heatran can also use these opportunities to set Stealth Rock and help wear down opposing Pokemon remove this line, it makes to bring it up on tank, while offensive heatran does force switches, its like saying breaker ogerpon-w is a good spike setter because it forces switches, it isnt the point of the set

**Tank**: Heatran's great typing, Special Attack, and utility movepool make it a great tank. It can repeatedly find opportunities to set Stealth Rock throughout a game as well as threatening opponents with its great 130 Special Attack. this is the set that needs to mention its bulk, a tanks job is to take a hit and hit back hard, this is where u emphasises its great resistances

**Stallbreaker**: Using Magma Storm in combination with Taunt Heatran can trap and eliminate almost any Pokemon without a pivoting move. make it clear that ur talking about the foe not having momentum, this reads as if Heatran is able to trap the opposing mons, even tho it doesnt have momentum Using taunt to deny recovery, Heatran is free to throw off attacks while the opponent is unable to escape. These sets require proper planning to make sure you actually win the race to kill an opposing mon before they kill you or are feed from Magma Storm but when they are executed well there is little opponents can do to stop them. By eliminating specific mons from the opponents team you allow your sweepers/cleaners to have a much easier time finishing games.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**:Magma Storm, Flash Cannon, Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Overheat, Fire Blast add heavy slam, heat crash

**Setup moves**: Flame Charge, Iron Defense

**Utility moves**:Stealth Rock, Taunt, Wil-O-Wisp, Protect, add substitute

**Coverage**: Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, Scorching Sands also add rock slide, stone edge, earthquake, body press

Niche Moves
========
**Solar Beam**: The combination of Power Herb and Solar Beam can be used to pick off pesky Ground- and Water-types than often cause Heatran problems. Use with caution however as this strategy is popular enough that many players will scout for this and once you have used your Power Herb you have a dead move slot.

add steel beam, can be used on specs/scarf as way to net kills it otherwise cannot achieve/revenge kill pokemon it cannot otherwise beat

**Physical Coverage**: While never really advised in select cases on trapping sets when aiming to trap special walls Heatran's physical moves may do more damage that special moves even with the large base stat difference. like i said before, remove this and list the coverage under the coverage section

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Heatran will likely be on the field many turns making leftovers slightly superior to Heavy Duty Boots in many cases. Protect can also be utilized to maximize the recovery gained from Leftovers, however if your opponent catches on you could give them free turns so spamming protect is not a sound strategy.

**Heavy Duty Boots**: Heavy Duty Boots should be used when you plan on dealing with many MANY hazards or are going to be switching Heatran around a lot not giving it time to recover with leftovers.

**Choice Specs**: While holding Choice Specs Heatran can range from difficult to almost impossible switch into change to can be very difficult to switch in to. Making use of its strong moves and ability to get multiple attacks off because of its defensive profile specs Heatran is a highly threatening offensive presence on any team. just mention that specs allows it to utilise its coverage well, defensive profile isnt really relevant to a primarily offensive set

**Resistance Berries**: Resistance berries can be a great surprise factor allowing Heatran to live a hit and KO something it otherwise wouldn't be able to, or scout important moveset information.

**Air Balloon** Negating its biggest weakness, Ground-type moves, Air Balloon allows Heatran to wall other Heatrans in a mirror match as well as switch in more safely to Pokemon likely to carry Earthquake.

spoke w/ the others, order this to be leftovers, then resistance berries, then boots, then balloon, then specs

Niche Items
========
**Attack Boosting Items**: Usually things like Charcoal, Metal Coat, or Life Orb are not as useful as recovery from leftovers, damage prevention from Heave Duty Boots, or more immediate damage from Choice Specs but they can be useful when you need to hit certain damage thresholds but also value the ability to change moves. u dont need to talk about leftovers or boots here, ur comparison point is specs, wouldnt even call it a dow grade, just explain what the pros and cons are

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet and Flame Body pair nicely together and can especially punish teams that are spamming Knock Off allowing you to get some chip and as well as you opponent risking a burn every time they hit you.

**Choice Scarf**: Since Heatran lost Eruption choice scarf sees less usage, but using Choice Scarf allows Heatran to escape some of the shortcomings of its awkward speed tier and be a decent cleaner in later stages of games. dont mention old movesets, mentioning eruption will only confuse new players, just bring up that scarf is also good for revenge killing
Tera
========
Heatran is a solid user of tera being able to flip matchups on their head with a well timed tera to resist a supereffective hit, however as the main Tera abuser in your draft Heatran can feel a bit lackluster. Many games Heatran gets value out of tera by flipping specific matchups like becoming a Grass-type to beat Water- and Ground-types both offensively or defensively. It can also use tera flying to escape damage from ground types entirely. You can also use a number of offensive types like Fairy or Ghost to gain access to coverage that it does not normally have access to. Heatran should be something you aim to pair with another threatening user of Terastalization forcing you opponent to account for not only a more defensive user like Heatran but also an offensive partner it is paired with, however because of its price point the other tera user can often also feel underwhelming and generally limit the potential you gain from tera on your team. spoke with the others, its best to mention that you can pair Heatran with another Pokemon that can use Tera well, but that mon shouldnt be overly reliant on Tera as if you make Heatran your tera cap, its something you do want to tera freqeuntly

Draft Strategy
========
Heatran can do many things for a draft despite an awkward speed tier and annoying weaknesses. The best thing for Heatran in a draft is having solid role compression so it is not forced into specific roles each week but can fit into the role it performs best in each game. If you are planning on taking Heatran make sure you are thinking about how it will help the mons you take before it as well as whether the mons you take before it help Heatran.

**Flying- and Grass-types**: Heatran only has 3 weaknesses Ground-, Water, and Fighting-type moves. This makes Grass- and Flying-types great partners as they both resist 2/3 of the types Heatran is weak to. This helps Heatran come in and out more throughout a game and they can also KO Pokemon that Heatran can have a hard time dealing with by itself. just list a few examples, torn t, wellspring and zapdos come to mind

**Strong Cleaners**: Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate even very bulky opponents mean it pairs great with strong late game cleaners that may not have the raw stats to wallbreak but can excel when an opposing team has been weakened or the big walls have been eliminated. Pokemon like Enamorus, Latios, and Greninja which can have trouble breaking through fatter mons and steel types are especially appreciative of Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate opponents.

**Water Killers**: Water types are some of the few mons that can reliably switch into Heatran's attacks so mons like Raging Bolt or Rillaboom which can effectively eliminate those threats are effective partners for Heatran.
Checks and Counters
========
**Ground-type moves**: Having a 4x weakness is never fun for a mon but Heatran gets a particularly short end of the stick being 4x weak to ground types. Because Earthquake is such a widely distributed move almost any mon can find coverage for Heatran even Pokemon who usually are invested in Special Attack like Galarian Slowking can run Earthquake just to beat Heatran.

**Fat Water-types**: Fat waters can effectively pivot into Heatran and they can be even more annoying if they have a way to escape Magma Storm. Having Pokemon that can both effectively switch into these mons as well as threaten them out is vital for supporting Heatran.

**Fast Wallbreakers**: While Heatran can effectively take a lot of attacks, vs stronger mons that outspeed it it can be difficult to safely switch into their attacks over the course of the game because of its lack of reliable recovery.

QC 2/2 Would move Boots from Common Items to Niche Items & move Scarf from Niche Items to Common Items tho
Noted however I have not run scarf heatran once in gen 9. It feels kinda meh as a scarfer rn imo. And I don’t think it’s possible for boots to be a niche item in gen 9 cause hazards go brrrrrrrrr

Unfortunately, (ac) a mon Pokemon with this many upsides also had some pretty notable downsides, the most notable of which is Heatran's weakness to Ground- and Fighting-type moves, (ac) which many Pokemon have access too.

Common Roles
========
**Offensive**: Heatran's strong STAB moves (rc) and high Special Attack stat allow it to be a highly effective offensive threat. Being Because it's very hard to switch into as well as having enough coverage to at least chip weaken Pokemon that resist its stab STAB moves, (ac) Heatran finds ways to make an impact the game whenever it's (aa) on the field. The combination of Magma Storm and almost any super (as) effective coverage move can take out KO many opposing Pokemon.

**Tank**: Heatran's great typing, Special Attack, and utility movepool make it a great tank. Its naturally high defenses and HP make it difficult to take out KO, (ac) and Magma Storm keeps Heatran from becoming too passive. It can also repeatedly find opportunities to set Stealth Rock throughout a game to help weaken foes down opponents even more.

**Stallbreaker**: Using When using Magma Storm in combination with Taunt, (ac) Heatran can trap and eliminate almost any opposing Pokemon without a pivoting move. Using After using Taunt to deny recovery, Heatran is free to throw off attacks while the opponent foe is unable to escape. By eliminating specific Pokemon from the opponent's (aa) team, (ac) you allow your sweepers/cleaners sweepers and cleaners to have a much easier time finishing games.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: (aa) Magma Storm, Flash Cannon, Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Overheat, Fire Blast, Heavy Slam, Heat Crash

**Setup moves**: Flame Charge, Iron Defense

**Utility moves**: (aa) Stealth Rock, Taunt, Wil-O-Wisp Will-O-Wisp, Protect, Substitute

**Coverage**: Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, Scorching Sands, Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Earthquake, Body Press

Niche Moves
========
**Solar Beam**: The combination of Power Herb and Solar Beam can be used to pick off pesky Ground- and Water-types than that often cause Heatran problems. Use with caution, (ac) however, (ac) as this strategy is popular enough that many players will scout for this, (ac) and once you have used your Heatran has used its Power Herb, (ac) you have it has a dead moveslot (rs).

**Steel Beam**: Steel Beam can be used on choice Choice item I believe this is what you mean? sets to pick up kill sit can not KOs it cannot with its weaker Steel-type moves. (ap)

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Heatran will likely be on the field for many turns, (ac) making Leftovers slightly superior to Heavy-Duty (ah) Boots in many cases. Protect can also be utilized to maximize the recovery gained from Leftovers; (rc, asc) however, (ac) if your opponent catches on, (ac) you could give them free turns, (ac) so spamming protect repeatedly using Protect is not a sound strategy.

**Resistance Berries Berry**: Resistance Berries can be a great surprise factor, (ac) allowing Heatran to live a hit and KO something it otherwise wouldn't be able to (rc) or scout important moveset information.

**Heavy-Duty (ah) Boots**: Heavy-Duty (ah) Boots should be used when you plan on dealing with many entry hazards or are going to be switching Heatran around a lot in and out frequently, (ac) not giving it time to recover with Leftovers.

**Air Balloon** Negating its biggest weakness, Ground-type moves, Air Balloon allows Heatran to wall other Heatrans Heatran in a mirror match as well as switch in more safely to Pokemon likely to carry Earthquake.

**Choice Specs**: While holding Choice Specs, (ac) Heatran can range from is difficult to switch into. Choice Specs also allows Heatran to make better use of its coverage and pickup KOs where other sets would not.

Niche Items
========
**Attack Boosting Items Damage-boosting items**: Usually things like Charcoal, Metal Coat, Items like Charcoal and Metal Coat can be useful when you need Heatran to hit certain damage thresholds but also value the ability to change moves. However, (ac) these items don't afford Heatran the longevity or immediate breaking power that other items do.

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet and Flame Body pair nicely together and can especially punish teams that are spamming repeatedly using Knock Off, (ac) allowing you to get some chip as well as you opponent risking a burn every time they hit you providing extra damage on foes while also making them risk being burned each time they make contact with Heatran.

**Choice Scarf**: Using Choice Scarf allows Heatran to escape some of the shortcomings of its awkward Speed tier and be a decent cleaner in later stages of games decently clean late-game. It can also be a solid revenge killer, (ac) catching opponents by surprise.

Tera
========
Heatran is a solid Tera user of tera being able to flip matchups on their head that is capable of turning matchups around with a well-timed (ah) Tera to resist a super (as) effective hit; (rc, asc) however, (ac) as the a main Tera abuser user in your draft, (ac) Heatran can feel a bit lackluster. Many games times, (ac) Heatran gets value out of Tera by flipping specific type matchups, (ac) like becoming a Grass-type such as using Tera Grass to beat Water- and Ground-types both offensively or defensively. It can also use Tera Flying to escape damage from ground types Ground-type moves entirely. You can also use a number of offensive Tera types like Tera Fairy or and Ghost to gain access to coverage that it does not normally have access to. Heatran likes to make use of Terastilization Terastallization in many matchups, (ac) so when considering a Tera partner to pair with Heatran, (ac) look for something that can function well—even when not using Terastilization Terastallization.

Draft Strategy
========
Heatran can do many things for a draft despite having an awkward Speed tier and annoying weaknesses. The best thing for Heatran in a draft is having solid role compression so it is not forced into specific roles each week but can fit into the role it performs best in each game against an opponent's team assuming you mean this here? if not let me know. If you are planning on taking drafting Heatran, (ac) make sure you are thinking about how it will help the mons Pokemon you take draft before it as well as whether the mons Pokemon you take draft before it help Heatran.

**Flying- and Grass-types**: Heatran only has 3 weaknesses—Ground, Water, and Fighting Ground-, Water-, and Fighting-type moves. This makes Grass- and Flying-types (rc) like Tornadus-T, Ogerpon-Wellspring, and Zapdos Ogerpon-W, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos great partners, (ac) as they both resist 2/3 of the two of the three types Heatran is weak to. This helps Heatran come in and out more throughout a game, (ac) and they can also KO Pokemon that Heatran can have a hard time dealing with by itself.

**Strong cleaners**: Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate very bulky opponents foes means it pairs great well with strong late-game (ah) cleaners that may not have the raw stats to wallbreak but can excel when an opposing team has been weakened or the big bulkier walls have been eliminated. Pokemon like Enamorus, Latios, and Greninja, (ac) which can have trouble breaking through fatter mons bulkier Pokemon and steel types Steel-types, (ac) are especially appreciative of Heatran's ability to trap and eliminate opponents foes.

**Water Killers Pokemon that threaten Water-types**: Water-types (ah) are some of the few mons Pokemon that can reliably switch into Heatran's attacks, (ac) so mons Pokemon like Raging Bolt or and Rillaboom, (ac) which can effectively eliminate those threats, (ac) are effective partners for Heatran.

Checks and Counters
========
**Ground-type moves**: Having a 4x weakness is never fun for a mon Pokemon, (ac) but Heatran gets a particularly short end of the stick by being 4x weak to ground types Ground. Because Earthquake is such a widely distributed move, (ac) almost any mon Pokemon can find coverage for Heatran—even Pokemon who that usually are invested in Special Attack like Galarian Slowking can run Earthquake just to beat Heatran.

**Fat Bulky Water-types**: Fat waters Bulky Water-types can effectively pivot into Heatran, (ac) and they can be even more annoying if they have a way to escape Magma Storm. Having Pokemon that can both effectively switch into these mons Pokemon as well as threaten them out is vital for supporting Heatran.

**Fast wallbreakers**: While Heatran can effectively take survive a lot of attacks (rc) vs stronger mons from stronger Pokemon that outspeed it, (ac) it can be difficult to safely switch into their attacks over the course of the game because of its lack of reliable recovery.
