Thick black fog sounds more like a ghost... maybe there is limited light? (since it is the dark type). And yeah, it should. So far I have only 4 gym types selected though. Bug and Rock for the first and second, Dark for the eighth, and steel for the sixth/seventh (cant remember what me and DP decided on lol)
