  • thoughts on dtb - I can't really remember what I've told you so sorry if you've heard some of this before

firstly A+ on characterization, Hei is made of awesome, such a badass etc etc. haha, he's one of those characters that's so engaging and interesting in the present that he doesn't need a woobie tragic backstory for me to find sympathetic and "root for" (although given their choice of setting time-wise I'm sure we'll be given one) - good thing too, considering the mysterious nature of the story and all :p.

hm originally I was kind of confused / put off by the sister obsession, what with contractors not supposed to have emotion and blah blah etc, but the more I think about it the more sure I am that, lol, he isn't even a contractor at all, is he? the total lack of mention of any contract payment, powers that /could/ possibly be generated through nonsupernatural means, why he uses a mask while no other contractor does, etc, something's fishy

Misaki is a standout too; true that it's rather stock, but I've always loved the "lone normal human person in a world of the supernatural" archetype, and the fact that she's a competent respected career woman on top of that is just ahhhhh lots of all-around awesome <33.

not really sure what I should think of Hei's entourage; I can't even decide if I want to see more or less of them. I think they either need more backstory or less screentime, because they feel very superfluous/ deadweight right now <_<
anyway I thought the plot had great direction going into the first couple arcs, uncovering the mystery of the gate and origins of contractor powers, but it kinda seems to be.. deviating from that? atm they're developing a pretty awesome universe, so no complaints for the time being, but I hope they explain everything in the end

oh, I actually hugely liked the two-part arc format as well, probably simply because being so used to 40-minute tv shows I felt much more comfortable with the pace, and I'm not one to mind monster-of-the-week formats as long as there's some sort of underlying direction I guessssss. I do wish characters like Mai and Wei got more screentime though! the former because imo there's a lot more potential to her character arc, and the latter just because he's an awesome badass~

at least uh i guess on the bright side annoying arcs get dropped quickly? :p I didn't get the missing black cat arc, I don't see what it had to do with anything really ._. actually for that matter I don't get Gai and Kiko at all - they're too over-the-top slapstick and caricatured for such a serious realistic anime imo. meh, I hope they turn out to have some sort of plot significance other than comic relief (or they're murdered in their sleep and are never heard from again), because this anime really has far better things to be doing!!

also this is probably like the only time I'm gonna comment on something non writing related: ok it's probably just an unfortunate combination of "not my taste" and being forced to hear it twenty times b/c my streaming site won't let me skip ahead, but - the OP is fucking vile ahhhhhhh my ears
haha actually I really am :\
I've always wanted to do it, but not enough people remember me anymore. Oh well
SO thoughts on higashi no eden/ eden of the east (read from top down <3)

idk I liked it overall, but I liked it for - probably rather weird reasons? I guess probably because of that I found the pacing very weird! it got off to a really slow start, and tbh if not for you I would probably have dropped it looong before the fifth ep or so :p the end also felt rather rushed and cliffhangery, but there were definitely parts in the middle I liked.

hmmm ok fuck organization I'll get into that. the more I think about it the more I don't get the ending at all!!! why on earth would they need the NEETs for anything?? Juiz is a supercomputer with superhuman intelligence etc etc; it's p ludicrous to suggest that they would be able to come up with something she couldn't -- let alone something as obvious as shoot the goddamn missiles down ._. it just felt like an extremely contrived attempt to give the NEETs /some/ use

idk, I did enjoy the insight into jap society and the NEET mindset/ phenomenon, so the resolution (if you can even call it that) is really a letdown lol. especially considering that this wasn't something like madoka, where the only way out was basically to pull a deus ex machina out your ass - he /had/ ten billion and an omnipotent servant and, :/ well.

there's a lot more that's bothering me about the plot tbh - such as, idk, how exactly are you going to become a prince/ king, how exactly is that going to help society, and in the first place why does no one want to do it?? why even wipe your memory in the first place? because you were, uh, sad? you have ten billion and people to save and shit, and you go splurge god knows how much on random brain gimmicky things on nothing more than a lark? <_<

ok so um I give up entirely on organizing my thoughts I'm just gonna ramble randomly
in terms of characterization I didn't think much of the protagonists: Takizawa was - well, effective, I guess, as just someone from whose point of view we're introduced to the rules of the universe, but other than that he's nothing outstanding, typical bland-flat-cheery protagonist imo; Saki was complete filler at best and plain distracting at worst (see: hints of her ~unrequited forbidden love~ for Kyousuke - um, what?!) so I uh shan't waste ramble on that

the characters I liked best / found most intriguing all started appearing in like the last few eps: Micchon gives me "hidden badass" and overall "would like to see more of" vibes, the pantsu guy has a p cool character idea (being a cynical disillusioned recluse from society just because you've developed software that can tell you how they'll all react anyways), and finally Mononobe! I actually like the idea behind him, it's almost comic-book-villain-y lol in that he's not exactly "bad", he's just seeking to save society by wiping out the uselessness etc

anyway, yeah what was keeping me interested wasn't the mystery or the romance or w/e, it was actually seeing the different facets of humanity~, in finding out what the various Selecao chose to do with their money. I found each and every one (the doctor, the prostitute CEO, the disillusioned one who bombed the place, the apathetic one - did I miss any?) of them very believable. I also really liked that there was some degree of them thinking about and ~self-reflecting~ on their course of action, that was some nice depth there :).

tldr I probably appreciated this anime for like all the wrong reasons dont kill me, but yeah with all that in mind do you think I'll find the two movies worth watching
boss finally getting what he deserves -- good well ;)

a lot of the questions in it will be stupid though lol. you better make the responses humorous xD
Of course mr. Stone, why not in Naples though? We have the best coffee here :)
hey stone sorry to bother you but i realized that I won't be able to participate in the tag team tourney thanks to being in China starting next week... if you could get my partner, soviet, a new partner, that'd be great. Thanks and again, sorry for the hassle :(
Whatever you muppet, gonna get banned again and just continue the cycle. Also, should I come onto PS or whatever you all are playing on, or save my time and jerk it instead?
You were a dick when I first met you. Guess nothing has changed

    (I love you deep down)
