I really don't know for sure. I don't use these things, hardly ever, yet I'm still rather amazing. I don't enjoy wasting move slots with protect.

Fake out and Follow Me are very good moves to use on trick room teams in double battles. One person fake outs the main threat while the bulky trick roomer tanks the attack to set up trick room so your slow, bulky sweepers can sweep entire teams. A good combinations that I use consists of Hariyama and Jellicent. They fulfill this role very well. Solrock and Amoongus can also do the trick room rage powder combination. However, for faster teams, tailwind is a good option, especially on somebody who has prankster and the move tailwind, such as Whimsicott and Tornadus.
