I'm not sure how relevant the flavor is but I'd like to think she treats her egg like a child. If that isn't convincing enough (given that she feeds her egg to people, soft boils it, and hurls it at people). She is the Happiness pokemon! Almost all the dex entries talk about how compassionate and caring Blissey is. She loves everyone just like a Mother loves a Child!
