Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
You have unusually good grammar for a 17-year-old guy with English not being your first language. Heck, you know it better than probably 90% of average 17-year-olds, because we don't focus a lot on grammar over here.
I'm naturally talented, I guess. My parents got me tons of books to read when I was little, so I guess I learned English as fast as my own mother tongue (Tamil). That habit's kinda stuck, because I'm a huge bookworm ^__^ That, and a ton of practice GPing stuff, starting from Feb '11 iirc.
Haha, nice! I read a lot too, and that's where I learned grammar from. Not class!! Apparently we need to focus on math and science more (I hate the American education system). And yeah, USA. Smack-dab in the middle: Illinois.
yeah it's the same here too ... science and math always go first over history, languages, and arts unless you're good at sports, and I'm crap at sports :P
Yeah, that's basicallically it. x.x I can't do sports because I had surgery in January, and before then I got in to wrestling. Can't do any of that now, though. ;_; The only thing I'm semi-decent at is English, so I might as well be an English teacher. Not sure what else I can do because I suck at math and science.
Hahaha, maybe! I had a cyst in January, and then another surgery to help it heal faster last week, so I've been out of school for this last semester. Not sure what I'm going to do about that, though. :(
ouch, that sounds painful. I haven't had any major surgeries, but I'm allergic to pretty much every other thing, be it dust, pollen, wood shavings, or even eggs, so I fall ill quite often with flu ._. As if that wasn't enough, I'm also lactose-intolerant, so I can't consume milk / cheese and have dreadful stamina as a result :P
Oh no ;_; I don't know what I would do without food tbh. MILK. Dang, that sucks :( Sorry to hear that! My friend's sister is that way, so i know how it goes.
nah, it's not at bad as it sounds. Indian food is incredible enough that I don't miss out on much. It's just western food like pizza / toasties and stuff I can't eat 100% without falling ill :)
Ohhh good! Tbh I'd like to try some Indian food :o We have a p bad Indian restaurant over here, but I know that it's not going to be the same as the real deal. The Mexican and Chinese restaurants here are the same way: good, but not the same as the real thing.
oh my god don't go to one of those 'indian' restaurants you have there. They will just put loads of spice in every damn thing lol :P afaik only NYC has good, authentic Indian - especially the dosa joints. I remember reading about a startup popularizing burrito-style dosas ^__^
