Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
the thing is that special effects are way easier to animate into night rather than the day, although the effects in this movie were good throughout
and imo the colors here are good 'cause black and blue go well together (no white and gold jokes PLEASE) and the darkness makes the POWER of the atomic blast more visually apparent as it basically lights the entire shot
I definitely see what they had going there with the movie, but it still would have been nice if they upped the brightness a bit. His breath attack is very nice looking though.
yeah they should've turned up the lighting a bit for the rest of the scenes in the city cuz most of it was like a really dark grey, hard to see on a smaller screen
the breath was a freaking boss moment I remember literally being like "ooooooh shiiiiiiiit" in the theater to my friend when his plates were lighting up damn dude that was the cooliest
I wish I saw it in the theaters. Unforunately my TV can have light shine on it from the windows so it can be even harder to see things. I guess it's funny knowing that it wasn't much different in the theater. Would've preferred Bryan Cranston as the MC instead of his son, but it's w/e. I enjoyed it still.
Yeah there were so many structural problems with the movie, especially that they never really get you to care about any of the human characters which I REALLY wanted to considering the cinematography was so genius as far as "this is what it would look like if you were actually there" without resorting to the terrible found footage types of movies that I absolutely hate. But despite that it's one of my favorite films of all time and I'm not entirely sure why. It wasn't really loyalty to the franchise because if anything this movie made me more interested in the franchise as a whole.
They got you to care about Bryan Cranston but then they killed him off which is kind of funny 'cause it shows they can do it.
A great way to get the audience to care about the characters is to give them some kind of lack of closure. Like in The Amazing Spider-Man, Uncle Ben goes out looking for Peter while Peter is angry at him, and then Uncle Ben is killed. You want them to resolve their issue but they never get to.
I think they could've done something similar with Bryan Cranston or even his son's family. Like his son is mad at him for basically going insane and neglecting him for all these years, and Bryan realizes that and then wants to fix their relationship, but they are separated and you want them to get through the whole monster thing and get together again safely so that they can finally fix their issues.
Also, I think seeing it in theaters is important 'cause you kinda need the big screen to feel out just the sheer scale and size of the creatures and the destruction
