The characters haven’t really had much time to develop considering how the show hasn’t had many episodes out quite yet but generally Star & Marco are the only really likeable ones. Star is a dork, a slight attention whore, although she is friendly, energetic, always trying to cheer others up, and a reckless princess who learned to snap a neck as a toddler and beat up monsters for fun all her life. Originally, Daron Nefcy planned for her to be a delusional schoolgirl who basically thought she was Sailor Moon, but yeah Disney didn’t take that. King Butterfly also happens to secretly sneak off into places like the Forest of Certain Death and kill seven-headed dragons to keep himself sane. Marco is responsible, organized, and supportive green belt who wore a helmet to the gym shower. Although he tends to avoid danger and was voted the ‘safe kid’, he’s not scared of throwing a punch and taking one, partially due to his insecurity. Also in more recent episodes there’s been a lot of emphasizing that Star ain’t invincible, not by a long shot.

It’s not flawless at all though, the writing isn’t winning any awards, the Ludo’s Army is completely incompetent, the new animation studio is mediocre compared to the old one, etc. It’s also not really what you’ll be looking for if you’re looking for an epic tale that’ll keep you at the edge of your seat.

PSS: MLP is overrated. Most people stick around for the community. The show isn't half bad but it doesn't deserve all the praise it gets.

lol there is some very one-sided romance, and Star is like completely flat. Starco is just people who ship Star and Marco and take every slightest implication as a blatant sign of their 'romance'.

Yeah there's really very little interaction with the two's love interests, except for when Star experienced Mewberty and morphed into an insectoid six armed purple web sticky web shooting flying boy hunter.

Where she then promptly grabbed Oscar's car, and carried him into the clouds although she transformed back shortly after and came down like a meteorite.

She was pretty disoriented but didn't really break anything or die because she's a flipping magical princess from another dimension. She then received a tiny pair of 'Mewberty wings' which she used to attempt to fly afterwards with Marco and then they both ended up with their faces in the cement.
