But seriously, I appreciate the reply at my Smeargle thread! I don't work on MS Paint as much as I used to, but I occasionally plan to use it for humor.

What kind of humor? If it's the "my art is so bad that it's funny" kind of humor, you have nothing to worry about! Your style is simple and unique, and I love the way it is. n_n

So, uh....if not MS paint anymore what are you using now? (if you don't mind me asking)

I have used Paint.NET for some recent stuff, such as that Luffy, the Trubbish, and Litwick.

It's a Pokémon-like concept that is also like Shin Megami Tensei, but aimed to an E10 audience. It's a monster project I'm working on for fun.

Do you happen to know anything about game programming, though? I'm reading up on Unity right now, hoping one day to be able to make a CAP pokemon amie.

Anyway, I've decided that my first House Pet starter core will revolve around Grass, Fire, and Water like Pokémon, but the Water starter line gets a lot of Ice coverage by leveling up.

That, or should I just completely ignore type advantages and disadvantages?

If you're using the same chart as Pokemon, how about make the water type really bulky, the fire type a sweeper, and have the grass type a lot of utility moves? Grass by itself is like, the worst type out of the 3.

That actually makes sense. A lot of the monsters get coverage that fit them flavor and gameplay-wise. For instance, some late-stage Grass-types get Fire and Electric moves.

I'm thinking of either no evolution like most RPGs, or evolution branches in the style of Digimon and Tamagotchi.

Joke species are the exception, though. They don't get crap.

I was thinking of a Fire starter tank because Pokémon hasn't done that yet. Emboar doesn't count because it is a wallbreaker.
