as for your question itself, i'd suggest reading this post by infernal: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/ou-weekly-research-v2-hosted-by-terrakion-coming-soon.3562076/page-9#post-6706184 it's a little outdated at this point, but it still covers key points like nearly total decline in tankchomp usage, rise in jirachi and amoonguss, and how magnezone is sorta necessary to fully beat steels. mag really limits teambuilding, and even with it, mega alt is one of those pokemon that's good at a bunch of stuff, but it's not AMAZING at any of them.
