Thomas Jefferson would be turning in his grave if he saw the Democrats throughout history were the party that doubled down on slavery, tried to claim the legacy of another party, and then became the party that responds to election losses with a combination of violent riots and grief counseling for butthurt college students and staff who didn't get their way for once.
Case in point: The Republicans continue to embrace Lincoln, the Democrats of late demonize Jefferson. Though I imagine after he's done spinning, he'll find their separation of him from what they've become comforting.
