    I don’t rly have an issue with whatever conclusion you want, but I do want to note that I think the statistics in your post are really shortsighted. After every single gen, it dies in favor of the new Gen. Look at SM during the first year of SS or ORAS during the first year of SM, they fell off even harder.

    SM ladder has always been goated, and even had similar level of activity to SS after the dynamax ban (iirc, but i'm p. sure my memory is accurate, i play A LOT of ladder). and i haven't seen people complain about smogon tour participation until SS was the CG

    I’d argue SM was bailed out a bit by COVID as everyone was at home, but if you look at it’s numbers relative to early SS (which were gigantic also due to COVID), it’s a similar trend

    this isn’t me saying SS is well-liked though. Many people find it lame and you’re more than entitled. I just think citing your personal experience goes further than numbers in this instance
