After you pick a seed, what you have to do is land on it. There is one more step though. When you hit your seed, you also have to advance the frame to the target frame number. In HGSS, you do so by calling either Professor Elm (moves 1) or Joey when he's not asking for a battle (moves 2). Remember that when verifying your seed, you're also advancing the frame, so it's best to choose an egg that has a frame of 10+. If you view the game as starting on frame 1, pick up the egg when you're on the correct frame. If you view the game as starting on frame 0, pick it up 1 before your target frame. Then hatch it and check IVs.

The main thing to be worried about is moving NPCs. If they move, they will mess your frames up, so try to enter menus and pick up the egg as fast as possible. DPPt has six moving NPCs to worry about, HGSS has one. If an NPC is constantly giving you issues, try starting the game, resaving without doing anything, and trying again.
Awesome. Is that all I really need to know for eggs? That does seem simple enough. If so, what about catching Pokes? I don't need wondercard pokes or legendary stationary pokes. I won't need wondercard pokes unless the Enigma Stone is a transferable wondercard...
A flawless Ditto is usually enough to give the IVs you want, yeah. The other parent with good IVs will offer you more choices, but most of the time, Ditto is all you need.
Okay, since you know how to breed a shiny, going for IVs is just like a step two to the process. When going for IVs, you first breed your Pokémon, pick it up, and hatch it WITHOUT saving. When it hatches, make sure that it's shiny/not shiny, has the ability, nature, moves, and gender you want. Then turn off the game. In RNG Reporter, there's an egg IVs tab. If you're using HGSS, check the HGSS box. If you know your parent's IVs, you can put them in the parent IVs boxes. The first Pokémon you put in is parent A, the second B. Enter your desired IVs and click the generate button. That will generate available seeds you can use for the entered month. You can pick any of them. If results return, try extending the min/max frame and the delay range.
Hmm, okay. RNG is basically choosing a starting point and moving from that starting point to getting what you want. Since you mentioned Gible, are you doing this on DPPt?
Okay. Do you have a seed for the IVs you want? If so, tell me what the egg frame is. If not, I'll help you find one.
yep... just open up rng reporter... and you know how to get shiny eggs right? well do all that, save in front of your egg, then go to Time Finder in rng reporter, use egg ivs and choose the ivs you want your egg to have, click hgss inheritance if you are on hgss and make note of which order your parents went into the day care and fill in their ivs (parent a is the one that went in first) fill in your min/max frames (10 is easiest, ill explain later) and min/max delays... pick a date you want and put in your seconds.. any works, and now click generate... look for a spread that you like, and try to make sure it is frame 10, and then right click it and copy it to the clipboard... now, go click on seed to time, right click and paste in your seed, click hgss and hit generate, pick a date and everything you want, then click generate again, and you are off to the races... hope this helped :)
no? when would you have to start over? you save before you put the parents in... you hit your time and stuff... you put em in... the egg generates... you save and you do the process again until you hit your time and stuff, then hatch the egg... i screwed up a bazillion times.
you rng the egg, save in front of the correct one... make sure it has you ability, shininess, etc. then you rng again for its ivs... it really sucks but its worth it.
