Pokemon that don't mind the residual damage are good choices. SubSplit Gengar, for instance, actually gets more out of Pain Split during a Sandstorm.
Sandstorm is a pretty vague term. Some think of it as a team where every member takes advantage of the Sandstorm weather effect in some way, usually by being resistant to it. I personally would define Sandstorm as any team that capitalizes on the weather effect, while not being entirely dependent on it. For example, a team utilizing Tyranitar to set up sandstorm and LO Aerodactyl to gain the SDef boost, but including enough support members to fix up weaknesses would work.
You could say that, it's not really a matter of improving for me, it's getting back in shape on 4th gen battling.

Reply to your post: Earth Power is fine also, I just added in HP Grass so that you could take down Swampert without having to switch to Shaymin. It's less of an issue if you decide not to use Scarf Shaymin, so in that case Earth Power is probably the better option.

I'm trying to be as helpful as I can here, just to make up for what I did on the gts :/
I'm generally on the Pokemon Online server here a lot, and I spend the rest of my time on TeamUber's shoddy server.
I know he can be harsh, but I owe a lot of my ability to Zenrot's helping me out with battling, and he was a good friend on the server.
I'm planning on challenging all of the gyms just to show that I haven't lost any of my skill at all and to hopefully prove my superiority.
I'm likely going to just leave if I accomplish that, I feel like I screwed up too many oppurtunities on the gts.
It was the first team I ever made back when I started.
I actually started playing competitivly on smogon, then moved to the gts when they put up a server.
Now I'm not even going near the server because I feel pretty bad about all I put Fish-E/Zenrot through when I left.

The only leads I've ever used were Infernape, Ambipom and Dusknoir (trick room lead)

Well I'm no longer banned, I wrote out my lengthy apology that I put a ton of thought into, and it worked.
Honestly, I'm going to be spending a lot less time on the gts, I screwed my self out of being able to join staff (avia had originally wanted me on) after abandoning the staff position I already had.
I'm planning on spending a lot more time on smogon now -
